Isaías 40
1 Consolai, consolai a meu povo, diz vosso Deus.
“Comfort, comfort My people,” says your God.
2 Falai ao coração de Jerusalém, e proclamai a ela, que seu esforço de guerra está terminado, que sua perversidade está perdoada; porque já recebeu [punição] em dobro da mão do SENHOR por todo os seus pecados.
“Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her forced labor has been completed; her iniquity has been pardoned. For she has received from the hand of the LORD double for all her sins.”
3 Voz do que clama no deserto: Preparai o caminho do SENHOR; endireitai na terra estéril vereda ao nosso Deus.
A voice of one calling: “Prepare the way for the LORD in the wilderness; make a straight highway for our God in the desert.
4 Todo vale será levantado, e todo monte e morro serão abaixados; e o torto se endireitará, e o [terreno] acidentado se tornará plano.
Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill made low; the uneven ground will become smooth, and the rugged land a plain.
5 E a glória do SENHOR se manifestará; e toda carne juntamente verá; pois [assim] falou a boca do SENHOR.
And the glory of the LORD will be revealed, and all humanity together will see it.
6 Uma voz: Clama! E ele disse: O que clamarei? Que toda carne é erva, e toda a sua bondade como as flores do campo.
A voice says, “Cry out!” And I asked, “What should I cry out?” “All flesh is like grass, and all its glory like the flowers of the field.
7 A erva se seca, as flores caem, porque o Espírito do SENHOR nelas sopra; verdadeiramente o povo é erva.
The grass withers and the flowers fall when the breath of the LORD blows on them; indeed, the people are grass.
8 A erva se seca, as flores caem; porém a palavra do nosso Deus continua firme para sempre.
The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever.”
9 Ó Sião, que anuncias boas novas, sobe até um monte alto! Ó Jerusalém, que anuncias boas novas, levanta tua voz com força; levanta-a, não temas; dize as cidades de Judá: Eis [aqui] o vosso Deus!
Go up on a high mountain, O Zion, herald of good news. Raise your voice loudly, O Jerusalem, herald of good news. Lift it up, do not be afraid! Say to the cities of Judah, “Here is your God!”
10 Eis que o Senhor DEUS virá com poder; e seu braço governará por ele; eis que sua retribuição [virá] com ele, e seu pagamento diante de si.
Behold, the Lord GOD comes with might, and His arm establishes His rule. His reward is with Him, and His recompense accompanies Him.
11 Como pastor ele apascentará seu rebanho; em seus braços recolherá aos cordeirinhos, e os levará em seu colo; ele guiará mansamente as que tiveram filhotes.
He tends His flock like a shepherd; He gathers the lambs in His arms and carries them close to His heart. He gently leads the nursing ewes.
12 Quem mediu com seu punho as águas, e tomou a medida dos céus aos palmos? E [quem] recolheu numa caixa de medida o pó da terra, e pesou os montes com pesos, e os morros com balanças?
Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or marked off the heavens with the span of his hand? Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket, or weighed the mountains on a scale and the hills with a balance?
13 Quem guiou o Espírito do SENHOR? E que conselheiro o ensinou?
Who has directed the Spirit of the LORD, or informed Him as His counselor?
14 Com quem ele tomou conselho? [Quem] lhe deu entendimento, e lhe ensinou o caminho do juízo, e lhe ensinou conhecimento, e lhe mostrou o caminho do entendimento?
Whom did He consult to enlighten Him, and who taught Him the paths of justice? Who imparted knowledge to Him and showed Him the way of understanding?
15 Eis que as nações [lhe] são consideradas como uma gota de balde, e como o pó miúdo das balanças; eis que ele levanta as ilhas como poeira.
Surely the nations are like a drop in a bucket; they are considered a speck of dust on the scales; He lifts up the islands like fine dust.
16 Nem [todo] o Líbano seria suficiente para o fogo, nem seus animais bastam para um holocausto.
Lebanon is not sufficient for fuel, nor its animals enough for a burnt offering.
17 Todas as nações são como nada perante ele; menos que nada e vazio ele as considera.
All the nations are as nothing before Him; He regards them as nothingness and emptiness.
18 A quem, pois, comparareis a Deus? Ou que semelhança atribuireis a ele?
To whom will you liken God? To what image will you compare Him?
19 O artífice funde a imagem, e o ourives a cobre de ouro, e cadeias de prata [lhe] funde.
To an idol that a craftsman casts and a metalworker overlays with gold and fits with silver chains?
20 O empobrecido, que não tem o que oferecer, escolhe madeira que não se estraga, [e] busca um artífice habilidoso, para preparar uma imagem que não se mova.
To one bereft of an offering who chooses wood that will not rot, who seeks a skilled craftsman to set up an idol that will not topple?
21 Por acaso não sabeis? Por acaso não ouvis? Ou desde o princípio não vos disseram? Por acaso não tendes entendido desde os fundamentos da terra?
Do you not know? Have you not heard? Has it not been declared to you from the beginning? Have you not understood since the foundation of the earth?
22 Ele é o que está sentado sobre o globo da terra, cujos moradores são [para ele] como gafanhotos; ele é o que estende os céus como uma cortina, e os estica como uma tenda, para [neles] habitar.
He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth; its dwellers are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.
23 Ele é o que torna os príncipes em nada, [e] faz juízes da terra serem como o vazio.
He brings the princes to nothing and makes the rulers of the earth meaningless.
24 Mal foram plantados, mal foram semeados, mal seu caule forma raízes na terra; e [logo] ele sopra neles, e se secam, e um vento forte os leva como palha fina.
No sooner are they planted, no sooner are they sown, no sooner have their stems taken root in the ground, than He blows on them and they wither, and a whirlwind sweeps them away like stubble.
25 A quem, pois, me comparareis, que eu lhe seja semelhante?, diz o Santo.
“To whom will you liken Me, or who is My equal?” asks the Holy One.
26 Levantai vossos olhos ao alto, e vede quem criou estas coisas, que faz sair numerado seu exército; e chama a todos eles pelos nomes, pela grandeza de [suas] forças, e por ser forte em poder, nenhuma [delas] faltará.
Lift up your eyes on high: Who created all these? He leads forth the starry host by number; He calls each one by name. Because of His great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.
27 Por que dizes, ó Jacó, e falas, ó Israel: Meu caminho está escondido do SENHOR, e meu juízo passa longe de meu Deus?
Why do you say, O Jacob, and why do you assert, O Israel, “My way is hidden from the LORD, and my claim is ignored by my God”?
28 Por acaso não sabes, nem ouviste, que o eterno Deus, o SENHOR, o criador dos confins da terra, não se cansa, nem se fatiga, e que seu entendimento é incompreensível?
Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary; His understanding is beyond searching out.
29 Ele dá força ao cansado, e multiplica as forças daquele que não tem vigor.
He gives power to the faint and increases the strength of the weak.
30 Até os jovens se cansam e se fatigam; e os rapazes caem;
Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall.
31 Mas os que confiam no SENHOR renovarão as forças, subirão com asas como águias; correrão, e não se cansarão; caminharão, e não se fatigarão.
But those who wait upon the LORD will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.
