Oséias 12

1 Efraim se alimenta de vento, e persegue o vento oriental o dia todo; multiplica a mentira e a destruição; e fazem aliança com a Assíria, e azeite se leva ao Egito.

Ephraim feedeth on the wind, and followeth the burning heat: all the day long he multiplied lies and desolation: and he hath made a covenant with the Assyrians, and carried oil into Egypt.

2 O SENHOR também tem uma briga judicial com Judá, e punirá Jacó conforme seus caminhos; ele lhe retribuirá conforme seus atos.

Therefore there is a judgment of the Lord with Juda, and a visitation for Jacob: he will render to him according to his ways, and according to his devices.

3 No ventre [da mãe] pegou pelo calcanhar de seu irmão, e em sua força lutou com Deus.

In the womb he supplanted his brother: and by his strength he had success with an angel.

4 Lutou com o anjo, e prevaleceu; chorou, e lhe suplicou; [em] Betel o achou, e ali falou conosco.

And he prevailed over the angel, and was strengthened: he wept, and made supplication to him: he found him in Bethel, and there he spoke with us.

5 O próprio SENHOR, Deus dos exércitos; o SENHOR é seu memorial.

Even the Lord the God of hosts, the Lord is his memorial.

6 Tu pois, converte-te a teu Deus; guarda tu a misericórdia e a justiça, e espera em teu Deus continuamente.

Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment, and hope in thy God always.

7 O mercador tem balança enganosa em sua mão, pois ama oprimir.

He is like Chanaan, there is a deceitful balance in his hand, he hath loved oppression.

8 E Efraim diz: Certamente eu sou rico; tenho obtido para mim muitos bens; [em] todo o meu trabalho ninguém pode achar em mim perversidade que seja pecado.

And Ephraim said: But yet I am become rich, I have found me an idol: all my labours shall not find me the iniquity that I have committed.

9 Porém eu sou o SENHOR teu Deus, desde a terra do Egito; eu ainda te farei morar em tendas, como nos dias solenes.

And I that am the Lord thy God from the land of Egypt, will yet cause thee to dwell in tabernacles, as in the days of the feast.

10 E falei aos profetas, e eu multipliquei a visão profética; e por meio dos profetas propus parábolas.

And I have spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, and I have used similitudes by the ministry of the prophets.

11 Visto que Gileade é injusta, certamente [seus moradores] são inúteis. Em Gilgal sacrificam bois, e até seus altares são como amontoados [de pedras] nos sulcos dos campos.

If Galaad be an idol, then in vain were they in Galgal offering sacrifices with bullocks: for their altars also are as heaps in the furrows of the field.

12 Mas Jacó fugiu à terra de Arã, e Israel serviu em troca de uma mulher, e por uma mulher apascentou [ovelhas].

Jacob fled into the country of Syria, and Israel served for a wife, and was a keeper for a wife.

13 Mas o SENHOR por um profeta fez subir a Israel do Egito, e por um profeta foi preservado.

But the Lord by a prophet brought Israel out of Egypt: and he was preserved by a prophet.

14 [Porém] Efraim o ofendeu amargamente; por isso deixará [a culpa de] seus sangues sobre ele, e seu Senhor lhe retribuirá sua desonra.

Ephraim hath provoked me to wrath with his bitterness, and his blood shall come upon him, and his Lord will render his reproach unto him.
