Ageu 2
1 No sétimo mês, no vigésimo primeiro [dia] mês, veio a palavra do SENHOR por meio do profeta Ageu, dizendo:
On October 17 [of that year], Yahweh gave [me], the prophet Haggai, [another] message.
2 Fala agora a Zorobabel filho de Sealtiel, governador de Judá, e a Josué filho de Jeozadaque, sumo sacerdote, e ao resto do povo, dizendo:
[The message was that I should] say this to Zerubbabel, Jeshua, and to the other people who were still alive [in Jerusalem]:
3 Quem restou dentre vós que tenha visto esta casa em sua primeira glória? E como a vedes agora? Não é esta como nada diante de vossos olhos?
“Do any of you remember how glorious our former temple was? [If you do, ] what does it look like to you now? It must seem like nothing at all.
4 Agora, pois, esforça-te, Zorobabel, diz o SENHOR; esforça-te também Josué, filho de Jeozadaque, sumo sacerdote; e esforça-te, todo o povo da terra, diz o SENHOR, e trabalhai; porque eu estou convosco, diz o SENHOR dos exércitos.
But now the Commander of the armies of angels says to [all of you], to Zerubbabel and Jeshua and the rest of you people who live in this nation, ‘[Do not be discouraged; ] be strong [DOU], and work [to build this new temple], because I will (be with/help) you.
5 Conforme o pacto que estabeleci convosco quando saístes do Egito, assim meu Espírito está em meio de vós; não temais.
My Spirit remains among you, like I promised your [ancestors] when they left Egypt. [So] do not be afraid!’”
6 Porque assim diz o SENHOR dos exércitos: Ainda uma vez, daqui a pouco, eu farei tremer os céus e a terra, o mar e a terra seca;
This is what the Commander of the armies of angels says: “Soon I will shake the sky and the earth, the oceans and the land again.
7 E farei tremer a todas as nações, e virá as coisas preciosas de todas as nações; e encherei esta casa de glória, diz o SENHOR dos exércitos.
I will shake [again the people of] all the nations, and as a result they will bring their treasures [to this temple]. I will fill this temple with [my] glory.
8 Minha é a prata, e meu é o ouro, diz o SENHOR dos exércitos.
The silver and the gold [that they own] are [really] mine, [so they will bring them to me].
9 A glória desta última casa será maior que a da primeira, diz o SENHOR dos exércitos; e neste lugar darei paz, diz o SENHOR dos exércitos.
[Then] this temple will be more glorious than the former/previous [temple was]. And I will cause things to go well for you all. [That will surely happen because I, ] the Commander of the armies of angels, have said it.”
10 Ao vigésimo quarto [dia] do nono mês, no segundo ano de Dario, veio a palavra do SENHOR por mão do profeta Ageu, dizendo:
On December 18 of that year, Yahweh gave [another] message to [me], the prophet Haggai.
11 Assim diz o SENHOR dos exércitos: Pergunta agora aos sacerdotes acerca da lei, dizendo:
This is what the Commander of the armies of angels said to me: “Ask the priests [this question] about what is written in the laws [of Moses about sacrifices]:
12 Se alguém levar carnes santas na borda de sua veste, e com sua borda tocar o pão, a comida, o vinho, o azeite, ou qualquer [outra] comida, por acaso isso será santificado? E os sacerdotes responderam: Não.
‘If one [of you priests takes from the altar some] meat that was sacrificed and is carrying it in his robes, if his robe touches [some] bread or stew or wine or [olive] oil or some other food, does that food also become (holy/acceptable for a sacrifice)?’” [When he said that to] the priests, they replied, “No.”
13 E Ageu disse: Se um impuro por causa de um corpo morto tocar alguma destas coisas, ela será impura? E os sacerdotes responderam: Impura será.
Then Haggai asked them, “If someone becomes unacceptable to God by touching a corpse, and [then he] touches any of those foods, will the food [also] become unacceptable to God?” The priests replied, “Yes.”
14 Então Ageu respondeu: Assim é este povo, esta nação, diante de mim, diz o SENHOR; e assim é toda obra de suas mãos; e todo o que ali oferecem é impuro.
Then Haggai replied, “Yahweh says [this]: ‘It is the same with you people and with this nation. Everything that you do and [all the sacrifices] that you all offer are unacceptable to me [because of the sins that you have committed].
15 Agora pois, considerai desde este dia em diante, antes que se ponha pedra sobre pedra no templo do SENHOR,
Think about what has been happening to you before you began to lay the foundation of my temple.
16 Antes que fossem estas coisas, vinham ao amontoado de grãos [buscar] vinte [medidas], conseguiam[apenas] dez; vinham à prensa de uvas para tirar dali cinquenta [vasos] mas ali havia[somente] vinte.
When you expected [to harvest] 20 bushels [of grain, you harvested] only ten bushels. When someone went to a [big] wine vat to get 50 gallons [of wine], there were only 20 [gallons in the vat].
17 Eu vos feri com ferrugem, mofo, e granizo em toda obra de vossas mãos; mas não vos [convertestes] a mim, diz o SENHOR.
I sent (blight/hot winds) and mildew and hail to destroy all your crops. But still you did not return to me.
18 Considerai, pois, isto, desde este dia em diante, desde o dia vigésimo quatro [dia] do nono mês, desde o dia em o fundamento do templo do SENHOR foi posto; considerai.
Starting from this day, December 18, the day when [you] have laid the foundation of my [new] temple, continue to think carefully [about your situation].
19 Ainda há semente no celeiro? A videira, a figueira, a romeira, e oliveira ainda não têm dado frutos; mas a partir de hoje eu [vos] abençoarei.
Is there now [RHQ] [any grain] seed left in your barns? [No, because you have eaten the small amount that you harvested]. And there is no fruit on your grapevines and fig trees and pomegranate [trees] and olive trees. But, from now on, I will bless you!’”
20 E a palavra do SENHOR veio pela segunda vez a Ageu, ao vigésimo quarto [dia] do mês, dizendo:
On that same day, Yahweh gave another message to me.
21 Fala a Zorobabel, governador de Judá, dizendo: Eu farei tremer os céus e a terra;
[He said, ] “Tell Zerubbabel the governor of Judah that I am going to shake the sky and the earth.
22 E transtornarei o trono dos reinos, e destruirei a força dos reinos das nações; e transtornarei as carruagens, e os que nelas se sentam; e os cavalos e os que neles montam cairão, cada um pela espada de seu irmão.
I will end the power of the kings of [many] nations [DOU]. I will cause their chariots and their drivers, their horses and [the soldiers] who are riding on them to be destroyed. [What will happen is that I will cause the soldiers] to kill each other with their swords.
23 Naquele dia, diz o SENHOR dos exércitos, eu te tomarei, Zorobabel, filho de Sealtiel, servo meu, diz o SENHOR, e te porei como anel de selar; porque eu te escolhi, diz o SENHOR dos exércitos.
Zerubbabel, you serve [me well]. So [I], the Commander of the armies of angels, declare that [like kings wear] signet rings [to show that they have authority to rule people], I will appoint you and cause you [to have authority to rule]. I will do that because I have chosen you. [That will surely happen because I, ] the Commander of the armies of angels, have said it.”
