Gênesis 44

1 E mandou José ao mordomo de sua casa, dizendo: Enche os sacos destes homens de alimentos, quanto puderem levar, e põe o dinheiro de cada um na boca de seu saco:

Afterward he commanded his steward, saying, Fill the mens sackes with foode, as much as they can carry, and put euery mans money in his sackes mouth.

2 E porás meu copo, o copo de prata, na boca do saco do mais novo, com o dinheiro de seu trigo. E ele fez como disse José.

And put my cup, I meane the siluer cup, in the sackes mouth of the yongest, and his corne money. And he did according to the commandement that Ioseph gaue him.

3 Vinda a manhã, os homens foram despedidos com seus asnos.

And in the morning the men were sent away, they, and their asses.

4 Havendo eles saído da cidade, da qual ainda não haviam se afastado, disse José a seu mordomo: Levanta-te, e segue a esses homens; e quando os alcançares, dize-lhes: Por que retribuístes com o mal pelo bem?

And when they went out of the citie not farre off, Ioseph sayd to his stewarde, Vp, follow after the men: and when thou doest ouertake them, say vnto them, Wherefore haue ye rewarded euill for good?

5 Não é isto no que bebe meu senhor, e pelo que costuma adivinhar? Fizestes mal no que fizestes.

Is that not the cuppe, wherein my Lord drinketh? and in the which he doeth deuine and prophecie? ye haue done euill in so doing.

6 E quando ele os alcançou, disse-lhes estas palavras.

And when he ouertooke them, he sayde those wordes vnto them.

7 E eles lhe responderam: Por que diz meu senhor tais coisas? Nunca tal façam teus servos.

And they answered him, Wherefore sayeth my lorde such wordes? God forbid that thy seruants should do such a thing.

8 Eis que, o dinheiro que achamos na boca de nossos sacos, o voltamos a trazer a ti desde a terra de Canaã; como, pois, havíamos de furtar da casa de teu senhor prata nem ouro?

Behold, the money which we found in our sackes mouthes, wee brought againe to thee out of the land of Canaan: how then should we steale out of thy lordes house siluer or golde?

9 Aquele de teus servos em quem for achado o copo, que morra, e ainda nós seremos servos de meu senhor.

With whomesoeuer of thy seruants it bee found, let him dye, and we also will be my lordes bondmen.

10 E ele disse: Também agora seja conforme vossas palavras; aquele em quem se achar, será meu servo, e vós sereis sem culpa.

And he said, Now then let it be according vnto your wordes: he with whome it is found, shall be my seruant, and ye shalbe blamelesse.

11 Eles então se deram pressa, e derrubando cada um seu saco em terra, abriu cada qual o seu saco.

Then at once euery man tooke downe his sacke to the grounde, and euery one opened his sacke.

12 E buscou; desde o mais velho começou, e acabou no mais novo; e o copo foi achado no saco de Benjamim.

And he searched, and began at the eldest and left at the yongest: and the cuppe was found in Beniamins sacke.

13 Então eles rasgaram suas roupas, e carregou cada um seu asno, e voltaram à cidade.

Then they rent their clothes, and laded euery man his asse, and went againe into the citie.

14 E chegou Judá com seus irmãos à casa de José, que ainda estava ali, e prostraram-se diante dele em terra.

So Iudah and his brethren came to Iosephs house (for he was yet there) and they fel before him on the ground.

15 E disse-lhes José: Que obra é esta que fizestes? Não sabeis que um homem como eu sabe adivinhar?

Then Ioseph sayd vnto them, What acte is this, which ye haue done? know ye not that such a man as I, can deuine and prophecie?

16 Então disse Judá: Que diremos a meu senhor? Que falaremos? Ou com que nos justificaremos? Deus achou a maldade de teus servos: eis que, nós somos servos de meu senhor, nós, e também aquele em cujo poder foi achado o copo.

Then sayd Iudah, What shall we say vnto my lord? what shall we speake? and howe can we iustifie our selues? God hath found out the wickednesse of thy seruants: beholde, we are seruants to my Lord, both wee, and he, with whome the cuppe is founde.

17 E ele respondeu: Nunca eu tal faça: o homem em cujo poder foi achado o copo, ele será meu servo; vós ide em paz a vosso pai.

But he answered, God forbid, that I should doe so, but the man, with whome the cuppe is founde, he shalbe my seruant, and go ye in peace vnto your father.

18 Então Judá se chegou a ele, e disse: Ai senhor meu, rogo-te que fale teu servo uma palavra aos ouvidos de meu senhor, e não se acenda tua ira contra teu servo, pois que tu és como Faraó.

Then Iudah drewe neere vnto him, and sayde, O my Lord, let thy seruant nowe speake a worde in my lordes eares, and let not thy wrath be kindled against thy seruant: for thou art euen as Pharaoh.

19 Meu senhor perguntou a seus servos, dizendo: Tendes pai ou irmão?

My Lord asked his seruants, saying, Haue ye a father, or a brother?

20 E nós respondemos a meu senhor: Temos um pai ancião, e um jovem que lhe nasceu em sua velhice, pequeno ainda; e um irmão seu morreu, e ele restou sozinho de sua mãe, e seu pai o ama.

And we answered my Lord, We haue a father that is olde, and a young childe, which he begate in his age: and his brother is dead, and he alone is left of his mother, and his father loueth him.

21 E tu disseste a teus servos: Trazei-o a mim, e porei meus olhos sobre ele.

Now thou saidest vnto thy seruants, Bring him vnto me, that I may set mine eye vpon him.

22 E nós dissemos a meu senhor: O jovem não pode deixar a seu pai, porque se o deixar, seu pai morrerá.

And we answered my lord, The childe can not depart from his father: for if he leaue his father, his father would die.

23 E disseste a teus servos: Se vosso irmão mais novo não descer convosco, não vejais mais meu rosto.

Then saydest thou vnto thy seruants, Except your yonger brother come downe with you, looke in my face no more.

24 Aconteceu, pois, que quando chegamos a meu pai teu servo, nós lhe contamos as palavras de meu senhor.

So when we came vnto thy seruant our father, and shewed him what my lord had sayd,

25 E disse nosso pai: Voltai a comprar-nos um pouco de alimento.

And our father sayde vnto vs, Goe againe, bye vs a litle foode,

26 E nós respondemos: Não podemos ir: se nosso irmão for conosco, iremos; porque não podemos ver o rosto do homem, não estando conosco nosso irmão o mais novo.

Then we answered, We can not go downe: but if our yongest brother go with vs, then will we go downe: for we may not see the mans face, except our yongest brother be with vs.

27 Então teu servo meu pai nos disse: Vós sabeis que dois me deu minha mulher;

Then thy seruant my father sayde vnto vs, Ye knowe that my wife bare me two sonnes,

28 E um saiu de minha presença, e penso certamente que foi despedaçado, e até agora não o vi;

And the one went out from me, and I said, Of a suretie he is torne in pieces, and I sawe him not since.

29 E se tomardes também este de diante de mim, e lhe acontecer algum desastre, fareis descer meus cabelos grisalhos com tristeza ao Xeol. (Sheol h7585)

Nowe yee take this also away from me: if death take him, then yee shall bring my graye head in sorowe to the graue. (Sheol h7585)

30 Agora, pois, quando chegar eu a teu servo meu pai, e o jovem não for comigo, como sua alma está ligada à alma dele,

Nowe therefore, when I come to thy seruant my father, and the childe be not with vs (seeing that his life dependeth on the childes life)

31 Sucederá que quando perceber a ausência do jovem, morrerá; e teus servos farão descer os cabelos grisalhos de teu servo, nosso pai, com tristeza ao Xeol. (Sheol h7585)

Then when hee shall see that the childe is not come, he will die: so shall thy seruants bring the graye head of thy seruant our father with sorowe to the graue. (Sheol h7585)

32 Como teu servo saiu por fiador do jovem com meu pai, dizendo: Se eu não o devolver a ti, então eu serei culpável para meu pai todos os dias;

Doubtlesse thy seruant became suertie for the childe to my father, and said, If I bring him not vnto thee againe, then I will beare the blame vnto my father for euer.

33 Rogo-te, portanto, que fique agora teu servo pelo jovem por servo de meu senhor, e que o jovem vá com seus irmãos.

Nowe therefore, I pray thee, let me thy seruant bide for the childe, as a seruant to my Lord, and let the childe go vp with his brethren.

34 Porque como irei eu a meu pai sem o jovem? Não poderei, por não ver o mal que sobrevirá a meu pai.

For how can I go vp to my father, if the childe be not with me, vnlesse I woulde see the euil that shall come on my father?
