1 Estas são as gerações dos filhos de Noé: Sem, Cam e Jafé, aos quais nasceram filhos depois do dilúvio.
(This is/I will now give) a list of the descendants of Noah’s sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. They had many children after the flood.
2 Os filhos de Jafé: Gômer, e Magogue, e Madai, e Javã, e Tubal, e Meseque, e Tiras.
The sons of Japheth were Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.
3 E os filhos de Gômer: Asquenaz, e Rifate, e Togarma.
The sons of Gomer were Askenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah.
4 E os filhos de Javã: Elisá, e Társis, Quitim, e Dodanim.
The sons of Javan were Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.
5 Por estes foram repartidas as ilhas das nações em suas terras, cada qual segundo sua língua, conforme suas famílias em suas nações.
Those sons and their families who were descended from Javan lived on the islands and on the land close to the [Mediterranean] Sea. Their descendants became tribes, each with its own language and clans and territory.
6 Os filhos de Cam: Cuxe, e Mizraim, e Pute, e Canaã.
The descendants of Ham were Cush, Egypt, Put, and Canaan.
7 E os filhos de Cuxe: Sebá, Havilá, e Sabtá, e Raamá, e Sabtecá. E os filhos de Raamá: Sabá e Dedã.
The descendants of Cush were Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. The descendants of Raamah were Sheba and Dedan.
8 E Cuxe gerou a Ninrode, este começou a ser poderoso na terra.
Another one of Cush’s descendants was Nimrod. Nimrod was the first person on earth who became a mighty warrior.
9 Este foi vigoroso caçador diante do SENHOR; pelo qual se diz: Assim como Ninrode, vigoroso caçador diante do SENHOR.
Yahweh saw that he had become (OR, caused him to become) a great hunter. That is why people say to a great hunter, “Yahweh (sees that you are/has caused you to be) a great hunter like Nimrod.”
10 E foi a cabeceira de seu reino Babel, e Ereque, e Acade, e Calné, na terra de Sinear.
Nimrod became a king who ruled in Babylonia. The first cities over which he ruled were Babel, Erech, Accad, and Calneh.
11 De esta terra saiu Assur, e edificou a Nínive, e a Reobote-Ir, e a Calá,
From there he went [with others] to Assyria and built the cities of Nineveh, Rehoboth-Ir, Calah,
12 E a Resém entre Nínive e Calá; a qual é cidade grande.
and Resen. Resen was a large city between Nineveh and Calah.
13 E Mizraim gerou a Ludim, e a Anamim, e a Leabim, e a Naftuim,
Ham’s son, Egypt, became the ancestor of the Lud, Anam, Lehab and Naphtuh,
14 E a Patrusim, e a Casluim de onde saíram os filisteus, e a Caftorim.
Pathrus, Casluh and Caphtor people-groups. The Philistine people were descended from Casluh.
15 E Canaã gerou a Sidom, seu primogênito e a Hete,
Ham’s youngest son, Canaan, became the father of Sidon, who was his eldest son, and Heth, his younger son.
16 E aos jebuseus, e aos amorreus, e aos gergeseus,
Canaan was also the ancestor of the Jebus, Amor, Girgash,
17 E aos heveus, e aos arqueus, e aos sineus,
Hiv, Ark, Sin,
18 E aos arvadeus e aos zemareus, e aos hamateus: e depois se derramaram as famílias dos cananeus.
Arved, Zemar and Hamath people-groups. Later the descendants of Canaan dispersed over a large area.
19 E foi o termo dos cananeus desde Sidom, vindo a Gerar até Gaza, até entrar em Sodoma e Gomorra, Admá, e Zeboim até Lasa.
Their land extended from Sidon [city] in the north as far south as Gaza [town], and then to the east as far as Gerar [town], and then farther east to Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim [towns], and even as far as Lasha [town].
20 Estes são os filhos de Cam por suas famílias, por suas línguas, em suas terras, em suas nações.
Those are the descendants of Ham. They became groups that had their own clans, their own languages, and their own land.
21 Também lhe nasceram filhos a Sem, pai de todos os filhos de Héber, e irmão mais velho de Jafé.
Shem, the older brother of Japheth, became the father of Eber, and the ancestor of all the descendants of Eber.
22 E os filhos de Sem: Elão, e Assur, e Arfaxade, e Lude, e Arã.
The sons of Shem were Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud, and Aram.
23 E os filhos de Arã: Uz, e Hul, e Géter, e Mas.
The sons of Aram were Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash.
24 E Arfaxade gerou a Salá, e Salá gerou a Héber.
Arphaxad became the father of Shelah. Shelah became the father of Eber.
25 E a Héber nasceram dois filhos: o nome de um foi Pelegue, porque em seus dias foi repartida a terra; e o nome de seu irmão, Joctã.
Eber became the father of two sons. One of them was named Peleg, [which means ‘division’], because during the time he lived, people on [MTY] the earth became divided and scattered everywhere. Peleg’s younger brother was Joktan.
26 E Joctã gerou a Almodá, e a Salefe, e Hazarmavé, e a Jerá,
Joktan became the ancestor of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah,
27 E a Hadorão, e a Uzal, e a Dicla,
Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah,
28 E a Obal, e a Abimael, e a Sabá,
Obal, Abimael, Sheba,
29 E a Ofir, e a Havilá, e a Jobabe: todos estes foram filhos de Joctã.
Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab. All those people were descended from Joktan.
30 E foi sua habitação desde Messa vindo de Sefar, monte à parte do oriente.
The areas in which they lived extended from Mesha westward to Sephar, which is in the (hill country/area that has a lot of hills).
31 Estes foram os filhos de Sem por suas famílias, por suas línguas, em suas terras, em suas nações.
They are descendants of Shem. They became groups that had their own clans, their own languages, and their own land.
32 Estas são as famílias de Noé por suas descendências, em suas nações; e destes foram divididas os povos na terra depois do dilúvio.
All those groups descended from the sons of Noah. Each group had its own (genealogy/record of people’s ancestors) and each became a separate ethnic group. Those ethnic groups formed after the flood and spread all around the earth.
