Êxodo 5
1 Depois entraram Moisés e Arão a Faraó, e lhe disseram: O SENHOR, o Deus de Israel, disse assim: Deixa ir meu povo a celebrar-me festa no deserto.
Then afterwarde Moses and Aaron went and said to Pharaoh, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may celebrate a feast vnto me in the wildernesse.
2 E Faraó respondeu: Quem é o SENHOR, para que eu ouça sua voz e deixe ir a Israel? Não conheço o SENHOR, nem tampouco deixarei Israel ir.
And Pharaoh saide, Who is the Lord, that I should heare his voyce, and let Israel go? I knowe not the Lord, neither will I let Israel goe.
3 E eles disseram: O Deus dos hebreus nos encontrou: iremos, pois, agora caminho de três dias pelo deserto, e sacrificaremos ao SENHOR nosso Deus; para que não venha sobre nós com pestilência ou com espada.
And they saide, We worship the God of the Ebrewes: we pray thee, let vs goe three daies iourney in the desert, and sacrifice vnto the Lord our God, least he bring vpon vs the pestilence or sword.
4 Então o rei do Egito lhes disse: Moisés e Arão, por que fazeis cessar ao povo de sua obra? Ide a vossas cargas.
Then saide the King of Egypt vnto them, Moses and Aaron, why cause ye the people to cease from their workes? get you to your burdens.
5 Disse também Faraó: Eis que o povo da terra é agora muito, e vós lhes fazeis cessar de suas cargas.
Pharaoh saide furthermore, Behold, much people is nowe in the lande, and ye make them leaue their burdens.
6 E mandou Faraó aquele mesmo dia aos capatazes do povo que o tinham à sua responsabilidade, e a seus governadores, dizendo:
Therefore Pharaoh gaue commandement the same day vnto the taskemasters of the people, and to their officers, saying,
7 De aqui adiante não dareis palha ao povo para fazer tijolos, como ontem e antes de ontem; vão eles e recolham por si mesmos a palha;
Ye shall giue the people no more strawe, to make bricke (as in time past) but let them goe and gather them strawe them selues:
8 E haveis de pôr-lhes a tarefa dos tijolos que faziam antes, e não lhes diminuireis nada; porque estão ociosos, e por isso levantam a voz dizendo: Vamos e sacrificaremos a nosso Deus.
Notwithstanding lay vpon them the nober of bricke, which they made in time past, diminish nothing thereof: for they be idle, therefore they crie, saying, Let vs go to offer sacrifice vnto our God.
9 Agrave-se a servidão sobre eles, para que se ocupem nela, e não atendam a palavras de mentira.
Lay more worke vpon the men, and cause them to do it, and let the not regard vaine words.
10 E saindo os capatazes do povo e seus governadores, falaram ao povo, dizendo: Assim disse Faraó: Eu não vos dou palha.
Then went the taskemasters of the people and their officers out, and tolde the people, saying, Thus saith Pharaoh, I will giue you no more strawe.
11 Ide vós, e recolhei palha de onde a achardes; que nada se diminuirá de vossa tarefa.
Goe your selues, get you strawe where yee can finde it, yet shall nothing of your labour bee diminished.
12 Então o povo se espalhou por toda a terra do Egito a colher restolho em lugar de palha.
Then were the people scattered abroade throughout all the land of Egypt, for to gather stubble in steade of strawe.
13 E os capatazes os apressavam, dizendo: Acabai vossa obra, a tarefa do dia em seu dia, como quando se vos dava palha.
And the taskemasters hasted them, saying, Finish your dayes worke euery dayes taske, as ye did when ye had strawe.
14 E açoitavam aos supervisores dos filhos de Israel, que os capatazes de Faraó haviam posto sobre eles, dizendo: Por que não cumpristes vossa tarefa de tijolos nem ontem nem hoje, como antes?
And the officers of the children of Israel, which Pharaohs taskemasters had set ouer them, were beaten, and demanded, Wherefore haue ye not fulfilled your taske in making bricke yesterday and to daye, as in times past?
15 E os supervisores dos filhos de Israel vieram a Faraó, e se queixaram a ele, dizendo: Por que o fazes assim com teus servos?
Then the officers of the children of Israel came, and cryed vnto Pharaoh, saying, Wherfore dealest thou thus with thy seruants?
16 Não se dá palha a teus servos, e, contudo, nos dizem: Fazei os tijolos. E eis que teus servos são açoitados, e teu povo cai em falta.
There is no strawe giuen to thy seruantes, and they say vnto vs, Make bricke: and loe, thy seruants are beaten, and thy people is blamed.
17 E ele respondeu: Estais ociosos, sim, ociosos, e por isso dizeis: Vamos e sacrifiquemos ao SENHOR.
But he said, Ye are to much idle: therfore ye say, Let vs goe to offer sacrifice to the Lord.
18 Ide, pois, agora, e trabalhai. Não se vos dará palha, e haveis de dar a tarefa dos tijolos.
Goe therefore nowe and worke: for there shall no strawe be giuen you, yet shall yee deliuer the whole tale of bricke.
19 Então os supervisores dos filhos de Israel se viram em aflição, tendo lhes dito: Não se diminuirá nada de vossos tijolos, da tarefa de cada dia.
Then the officers of the children of Israel sawe them selues in an euill case, because it was saide, Ye shall diminish nothing of your bricke, nor of euery dayes taske.
20 E encontrando a Moisés e a Arão, que estavam à vista deles quando saíam de Faraó,
And they met Moses and Aaron, which stood in their way as they came out from Pharaoh,
21 Disseram-lhes: Olhe o SENHOR sobre vós, e julgue; pois nos fizestes repulsivos diante de Faraó e de seus servos, dando-lhes a espada nas mãos para que nos matem.
To whom they said, The Lord looke vpon you and iudge: for yee haue made our sauour to stinke before Pharaoh and before his seruants, in that ye haue put a sword in their hand to slay vs.
22 Então Moisés se voltou ao SENHOR, e disse: Senhor, por que afliges a este povo? para que me enviaste?
Wherefore Moses returned to the Lord, and saide, Lord, why hast thou afflicted this people? wherefore hast thou thus sent me?
23 Porque desde que vim a Faraó para falar-lhe em teu nome, afligiu a este povo; e tu tampouco livraste a teu povo.
For since I came to Pharaoh to speake in thy Name, he hath vexed this people, and yet thou hast not deliuered thy people.
