Êxodo 20

1 E falou Deus todas estas palavras, dizendo:

And God spoke all these words, saying:

2 Eu sou o SENHOR teu Deus, que te tirei da terra do Egito, de casa de servos.

I am the LORD thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

3 Não terás deuses alheios diante de mim.

Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.

4 Não te farás imagem, nem nenhuma semelhança de coisa que esteja acima no céu, nem abaixo na terra, nem nas águas debaixo da terra:

Thou shalt not make unto thee a graven image, nor any manner of likeness, of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth;

5 Não te inclinarás a elas, nem as honrarás; porque eu sou o SENHOR teu Deus, forte, zeloso, que visito a maldade dos pais sobre os filhos, sobre os terceiros e sobre os quartos, aos que me aborrecem,

thou shalt not bow down unto them, nor serve them; for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me;

6 E que faço misericórdia em milhares aos que me amam, e guardam meus mandamentos.

and showing mercy unto the thousandth generation of them that love Me and keep My commandments.

7 Não tomarás o nome do SENHOR teu Deus em vão; porque não dará por inocente o SENHOR ao que tomar seu nome em vão.

Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh His name in vain.

8 Tu te lembrarás do dia do repouso, para santificá-lo:

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

9 Seis dias trabalharás, e farás toda tua obra;

Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work;

10 Mas o sétimo dia será repouso para o SENHOR teu Deus: não faças nele obra alguma, tu, nem teu filho, nem tua filha, nem teu servo, nem tua criada, nem teu animal, nem teu estrangeiro que está dentro de tuas portas:

but the seventh day is a sabbath unto the LORD thy God, in it thou shalt not do any manner of work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy man-servant, nor thy maid-servant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates;

11 Porque em seis dias fez o SENHOR os céus e a terra, o mar e todas as coisas que neles há, e repousou no sétimo dia: portanto o SENHOR abençoou o dia do repouso e o santificou.

for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested on the seventh day; wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

12 Honra a teu pai e a tua mãe, para que teus dias se alarguem na terra que o SENHOR teu Deus te dá.

Honour thy father and thy mother, that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

13 Não cometerás homicídio.

Thou shalt not murder.

14 Não cometerás adultério.

Thou shalt not commit adultery.

15 Não furtarás.

Thou shalt not steal.

16 Não falarás contra teu próximo falso testemunho.

Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

17 Não cobiçarás a casa de teu próximo, não cobiçarás a mulher de teu próximo, nem seu servo, nem sua criada, nem seu boi, nem seu asno, nem coisa alguma de teu próximo.

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house; thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his man-servant, nor his maid-servant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

18 Todo o povo considerava as vozes, e as chamas, e o som da trombeta, e o monte que fumegava: e vendo-o o povo, tremeram, e puseram-se de longe.

And all the people perceived the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the voice of the horn, and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled, and stood afar off.

19 E disseram a Moisés: Fala tu conosco, que nós ouviremos; mas não fale Deus conosco, para que não morramos.

And they said unto Moses: 'Speak thou with us, and we will hear; but let not God speak with us, lest we die.'

20 E Moisés respondeu ao povo: Não temais; que para provar-vos veio Deus, e para que seu temor esteja em vossa presença para que não pequeis.

And Moses said unto the people: 'Fear not; for God is come to prove you, and that His fear may be before you, that ye sin not.'

21 Então o povo se pôs de longe, e Moisés se chegou à escuridão na qual estava Deus.

And the people stood afar off; but Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was.

22 E o SENHOR disse a Moisés: Assim dirás aos filhos de Israel: Vós vistes que falei desde o céu convosco.

And the LORD said unto Moses: Thus thou shalt say unto the children of Israel: Ye yourselves have seen that I have talked with you from heaven.

23 Não façais comigo deuses de prata, nem deuses de ouro vos fareis.

Ye shall not make with Me — gods of silver, or gods of gold, ye shall not make unto you.

24 Da terra farás altar para mim, e sacrificarás sobre ele teus holocaustos e tuas ofertas pacíficas, tuas ovelhas e tuas vacas: em qualquer lugar onde eu fizer que esteja a memória de meu nome, virei a ti, e te abençoarei.

An altar of earth thou shalt make unto Me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt-offerings, and thy peace-offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen; in every place where I cause My name to be mentioned I will come unto thee and bless thee.

25 E se me fizeres altar de pedras, não as faças lavradas; porque se levantares teu buril sobre ele, tu o profanarás.

And if thou make Me an altar of stone, thou shalt not build it of hewn stones; for if thou lift up thy tool upon it, thou hast profaned it.

26 E não subirás por degraus a meu altar, para que tua nudez não seja junto a ele descoberta.

Neither shalt thou go up by steps unto Mine altar, that thy nakedness be not uncovered thereon.
