Êxodo 16
1 Depois que partiram de Elim, toda a congregação dos filhos de Israel veio ao deserto de Sim, que está entre Elim e Sinai, aos quinze dias do segundo mês depois que saíram da terra do Egito.
They took their journey from Elim, and all the congregation of the children of Israel came to the wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departing out of the land of Egypt.
2 E toda a congregação dos filhos de Israel murmurou contra Moisés e Arão no deserto;
The whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron in the wilderness;
3 E diziam-lhes os filhos de Israel: Bom seria se tivéssemos morrido por meio do SENHOR na terra do Egito, quando nos sentávamos junto às panelas das carnes, quando comíamos pão em fartura; pois nos tirastes a este deserto, para matar de fome a toda esta multidão.
and the children of Israel said to them, “We wish that we had died by the LORD’s hand in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the meat pots, when we ate our fill of bread, for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger.”
4 E o SENHOR disse a Moisés: Eis que eu vos farei chover pão do céu; e o povo sairá, e colherá para cada um dia, para que eu lhe prove se anda em minha lei, ou não.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Behold, I will rain bread from the sky for you, and the people shall go out and gather a day’s portion every day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in my law or not.
5 Mas ao sexto dia prepararão o que coletarem, que será o dobro do que costumam colher cada dia.
It shall come to pass on the sixth day, that they shall prepare that which they bring in, and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily.”
6 Então disse Moisés e Arão a todos os filhos de Israel: À tarde sabereis que o SENHOR vos tirou da terra do Egito:
Moses and Aaron said to all the children of Israel, “At evening, you shall know that the LORD has brought you out from the land of Egypt.
7 E à próxima manhã vereis a glória do SENHOR; porque ele ouviu as vossas murmurações contra o SENHOR; pois quem somos nós, para que vós murmureis contra nós?
In the morning, you shall see the LORD’s glory; because he hears your murmurings against the LORD. Who are we, that you murmur against us?”
8 E disse Moisés: o SENHOR vos dará à tarde carne para comer, e à manhã pão em fartura; pois o SENHOR ouviu as vossas murmurações com que murmurais contra ele; pois quem somos nós? As vossas murmurações não são contra nós, mas sim contra o SENHOR.
Moses said, “Now the LORD will give you meat to eat in the evening, and in the morning bread to satisfy you, because the LORD hears your murmurings which you murmur against him. And who are we? Your murmurings are not against us, but against the LORD.”
9 E disse Moisés a Arão: Dize a toda a congregação dos filhos de Israel: Aproximai-vos à presença do SENHOR; que ele ouviu vossas murmurações.
Moses said to Aaron, “Tell all the congregation of the children of Israel, ‘Come close to the LORD, for he has heard your murmurings.’”
10 E falando Arão a toda a congregação dos filhos de Israel, olharam até o deserto, e eis a glória do SENHOR, que apareceu na nuvem.
As Aaron spoke to the whole congregation of the children of Israel, they looked towards the wilderness, and behold, the LORD’s glory appeared in the cloud.
11 E o SENHOR falou a Moisés, dizendo:
The LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
12 Eu ouvi as murmurações dos filhos de Israel; fala-lhes, dizendo: Ao entardecer comereis carne, e pela manhã vos fartareis de pão, e sabereis que eu sou o SENHOR vosso Deus.
“I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel. Speak to them, saying, ‘At evening you shall eat meat, and in the morning you shall be filled with bread. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God.’”
13 E vinda a tarde subiram codornizes que cobriram o acampamento; e à manhã desceu orvalho em derredor do acampamento.
In the evening, quail came up and covered the camp; and in the morning the dew lay around the camp.
14 E quando o orvalho cessou de descer, eis sobre a face do deserto uma coisa miúda, redonda, miúda como uma geada sobre a terra.
When the dew that lay had gone, behold, on the surface of the wilderness was a small round thing, small as the frost on the ground.
15 E vendo-o os filhos de Israel, se disseram uns aos outros: Que é isto? porque não sabiam que era. Então Moisés lhes disse: É o pão que o SENHOR vos dá para comer.
When the children of Israel saw it, they said to one another, “What is it?” For they didn’t know what it was. Moses said to them, “It is the bread which the LORD has given you to eat.
16 Isto é o que o SENHOR mandou: Colhereis dele cada um segundo puder comer; um gômer por cabeça, conforme o número de vossas pessoas, tomareis cada um para os que estão em sua tenda.
This is the thing which the LORD has commanded: ‘Gather of it everyone according to his eating; an omer a head, according to the number of your persons, you shall take it, every man for those who are in his tent.’”
17 E os filhos de Israel o fizeram assim: e recolheram uns mais, outros menos:
The children of Israel did so, and some gathered more, some less.
18 E mediam-no por gômer, e não sobrava ao que havia recolhido muito, nem faltava ao que havia recolhido pouco: cada um recolheu conforme o que havia de comer.
When they measured it with an omer, he who gathered much had nothing over, and he who gathered little had no lack. They each gathered according to his eating.
19 E disse-lhes Moisés: Nenhum deixe nada disso para amanhã.
Moses said to them, “Let no one leave of it until the morning.”
20 Mas eles não obedeceram a Moisés, mas sim que alguns deixaram dele para outro dia, e criou bichos, e apodreceu-se; e irou-se contra eles Moisés.
Notwithstanding they didn’t listen to Moses, but some of them left of it until the morning, so it bred worms and became foul; and Moses was angry with them.
21 E recolhiam-no cada manhã, cada um segundo o que havia de comer: e logo que o sol aquecia, derretia-se.
They gathered it morning by morning, everyone according to his eating. When the sun grew hot, it melted.
22 No sexto dia recolheram comida em dobro, dois gômeres para cada um; e todos os príncipes da congregação vieram a Moisés, e contaram-lhe isso.
On the sixth day, they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for each one; and all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses.
23 E ele lhes disse: Isto é o que o SENHOR disse: Amanhã é o repouso, o santo sábado do SENHOR; o que houverdes de assar, assai-o hoje, e o que houverdes de cozinhar, cozinhai-o; e tudo o que vos sobrar, guardai-o para amanhã.
He said to them, “This is that which the LORD has spoken, ‘Tomorrow is a solemn rest, a holy Sabbath to the LORD. Bake that which you want to bake, and boil that which you want to boil; and all that remains over lay up for yourselves to be kept until the morning.’”
24 E eles o guardaram até a manhã, segundo que Moisés havia mandado, e não se apodreceu, nem houve nele bicho.
They laid it up until the morning, as Moses ordered, and it didn’t become foul, and there were no worms in it.
25 E disse Moisés: Comei-o hoje, porque hoje é sábado do SENHOR: hoje não achareis no campo.
Moses said, “Eat that today, for today is a Sabbath to the LORD. Today you shall not find it in the field.
26 Nos seis dias o recolhereis; mas o sétimo dia é sábado, no qual não se achará.
Six days you shall gather it, but on the seventh day is the Sabbath. In it there shall be none.”
27 E aconteceu que alguns do povo saíram no sétimo dia a recolher, e não acharam.
On the seventh day, some of the people went out to gather, and they found none.
28 E o SENHOR disse a Moisés: Até quando não querereis guardar meus mandamentos e minhas leis?
The LORD said to Moses, “How long do you refuse to keep my commandments and my laws?
29 Olhai que o SENHOR vos deu o sábado, e por isso vos dá no sexto dia pão para dois dias. Fique, pois, cada um em sua morada, e ninguém saia de seu lugar no sétimo dia.
Behold, because the LORD has given you the Sabbath, therefore he gives you on the sixth day the bread of two days. Everyone stay in his place. Let no one go out of his place on the seventh day.”
30 Assim o povo repousou o sétimo dia.
So the people rested on the seventh day.
31 E a casa de Israel o chamou maná; e era como semente de coentro, branco, e seu sabor como de bolos com mel.
The house of Israel called its name “Manna”, and it was like coriander seed, white; and its taste was like wafers with honey.
32 E disse Moisés: Isto é o que o SENHOR mandou: Encherás um gômer dele para que se guarde para vossos descendentes, a fim de que vejam o pão que eu vos dei a comer no deserto, quando eu vos tirei da terra do Egito.
Moses said, “This is the thing which the LORD has commanded, ‘Let an omer-full of it be kept throughout your generations, that they may see the bread with which I fed you in the wilderness, when I brought you out of the land of Egypt.’”
33 E disse Moisés a Arão: Toma um vaso e põe nele um gômer cheio de maná, e põe-o diante do SENHOR, para que seja guardado para vossos descendentes.
Moses said to Aaron, “Take a pot, and put an omer-full of manna in it, and lay it up before the LORD, to be kept throughout your generations.”
34 E Arão o pôs diante do testemunho para guardá-lo, como o SENHOR o mandou a Moisés.
As the LORD commanded Moses, so Aaron laid it up before the Testimony, to be kept.
35 Assim os filhos de Israel comeram maná por quarenta anos, até que entraram em terra habitada; comeram maná até que chegaram ao limite da terra de Canaã.
The children of Israel ate the manna forty years, until they came to an inhabited land. They ate the manna until they came to the borders of the land of Canaan.
36 E um gômer é a décima parte do efa.
Now an omer is one tenth of an ephah.
