Efésios 2
1 E vós estáveis mortos em vossas ofensas e pecados,
And so God has given life to you Gentiles also, who were once dead in your trespasses and sins,
2 nos quais antes andastes conforme o proceder deste mundo, conforme o príncipe do poder do ar, do espírito que agora opera nos filhos da desobediência. (aiōn g165)
in which you passed your lives after the way of this world, under the sway of the Prince of the Powers of the Air, the spirit who is now working among the sons of disobedience. (aiōn g165)
3 Entre esses também todos nós antes andávamos nos desejos da nossa carne, fazendo a vontade da carne e dos pensamentos; e éramos por natureza filhos da ira, como também os outros.
And among them we all once passed our lives, indulging the passions of our flesh, carrying out the dictates of our senses and temperament, and were by nature the children of wrath like all the rest.
4 Mas Deus, que é rico em misericórdia, pelo seu muito amor com que nos amou,
But God, who is rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us,
5 estando nós ainda mortos em [nossas] ofensas, nos deu vida juntamente com Cristo (pela graça sois salvos),
even while we were dead in our trespasses, made us live together with Christ (it is by grace you have been saved).
6 [nos] ressuscitou, juntamente [com ele], e [nos] fez sentar nos lugares celestiais, em Cristo Jesus;
together with him He raised us from the dead, and together with Christ Jesus seated us in the heavenly realm,
7 para mostrar nos tempos futuros as abundantes riquezas da sua graça, pela [sua] bondade conosco em Cristo Jesus. (aiōn g165)
in order that he might show to the ages to come the amazing riches of his grace by his goodness to us in Christ Jesus. (aiōn g165)
8 Porque pela graça sois salvos, por meio da fé; e isto não [vem] de vós; [é] dom de Deus;
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is God’s gift.
9 não por obras, para que ninguém tenha orgulho de si mesmo.
It is not of works, so that any one can boast of it;
10 Pois nós fomos feitos por ele, criados em Cristo Jesus para as boas obras, que Deus preparou para que nelas andássemos.
for we are his handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for good deeds, which God predestined us to make our daily way of life.
11 Portanto, lembrai-vos de que vós, antes, éreis gentios na carne, e chamados de não-circuncidados pelos que se chamam participantes da circuncisão na carne, feita por mãos humanas;
Do not forget then, that you Gentiles in the flesh, who are called "uncircumcision" by the "circumcision" made in flesh by man’s hand,
12 que naquele tempo estáveis sem Cristo, excluídos da comunidade de Israel, e estranhos aos pactos da promessa, não tendo esperança, e sem Deus no mundo.
were once upon a time without Christ, aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, strangers to the covenants of the Promise, without hope and without God in the world.
13 Mas agora em Cristo Jesus, vós que antes estáveis longe, chegastes para perto pelo sangue de Cristo,
But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near in the blood of Christ.
14 pois ele é a nossa paz. Dos dois [povos] ele fez um, e derrubou do meio o muro da separação.
For he is our Peace, who has made the two of us Jew and Gentile one, and has broken down the party-wall of partition between us.
15 Na sua carne ele desfez a inimizade da Lei dos mandamentos [que consistia] em ordenanças, para criar em si mesmo os dois em um novo homem, fazendo a paz;
In his own body he abolished the cause of our enmity, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, in order to make the two into one new man in himself, so making peace.
16 e pela cruz reconciliar com Deus a ambos num só corpo, matando nela a inimizade.
Thus he reconciled us both in one body to God by his cross, on which he slew our enmity.
17 Ele veio, e proclamou o evangelho da paz a vós que [estáveis] longe, e paz aos que estavam perto.
So he came preaching "Peace" to you Gentiles who were afar off, and "Peace" to us Jews who were near;
18 Pois por meio dele ambos temos acesso ao Pai por um [mesmo] Espírito.
because it is through him that we both have access in one spirit to the Father.
19 Portanto, já não sois estrangeiros, nem forasteiros, mas sim, concidadãos dos santos, e membros da família de Deus,
Take notice then that no longer are you strangers and foreigners, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of God’s household.
20 edificados sobre o fundamento dos apóstolos e dos profetas, do qual Cristo Jesus é a pedra principal da esquina.
You are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner-stone.
21 Nele o edifício todo, bem ajustado, cresce para [ser] um templo santo no Senhor.
In him the whole building, fitly framed together, rises into a holy temple in the Lord;
22 Nele também vós sois juntamente edificados para [serdes] morada de Deus em Espírito.
and in him you, too, are continuously built together for a dwelling- place of God through his Spirit.
