Deuteronômio 2
1 E voltamos, e partimo-nos ao deserto caminho do mar Vermelho, como o SENHOR me havia dito; e rodeamos o monte de Seir por muitos dias.
Then we turned, and tooke our iourney into the wildernes, by the way of the red Sea, as the Lord spake vnto me: and we compassed mount Seir a long time.
2 E o SENHOR me falou, dizendo:
And the Lord spake vnto me, saying,
3 Demais rodeastes este monte; voltai-vos ao norte.
Ye haue compassed this mountaine long ynough: turne you Northward.
4 E manda ao povo, dizendo: Passando vós pelo termo de vossos irmãos os filhos de Esaú, que habitam em Seir, eles terão medo de vós; mas vós guardai-vos muito:
And warne thou the people, saying, Ye shall go through the coast of your brethren the children of Esau, which dwell in Seir, and they shall be afraide of you: take ye good heede therefore.
5 Não vos metais com eles; que não vos darei de sua terra nem ainda a pisadura da planta de um pé; porque eu dei por herança a Esaú o monte de Seir.
Ye shall not prouoke them: for I wil not giue you of their land so much as a foot breadth, because I haue giuen mount Seir vnto Esau for a possession.
6 Comprareis deles por dinheiro os alimentos, e comereis; e também comprareis deles a água, e bebereis:
Ye shall buy meate of them for money to eate, and ye shall also procure water of them for money to drinke.
7 Pois o SENHOR teu Deus te abençoou em toda obra de tuas mãos: ele sabe que andas por este grande deserto: estes quarenta anos o SENHOR teu Deus foi contigo; e nenhuma coisa te faltou.
For the Lord thy God hath blessed thee in all the workes of thine hand: he knoweth thy walking through this great wildernes, and the Lord thy God hath bene with thee this fourtie yeere, and thou hast lacked nothing.
8 E passamos por nossos irmãos os filhos de Esaú, que habitavam em Seir, pelo caminho da planície de Elate e de Eziom-Geber. E voltamos, e passamos caminho do deserto de Moabe.
And when we were departed from our brethren the children of Esau which dwelt in Seir, through the way of the plaine, from Elath, and from Ezion-gaber, we turned and went by the way of the wildernes of Moab.
9 E o SENHOR me disse: Não perturbeis a Moabe, nem te empenhes com eles em guerra, que não te darei possessão de sua terra; porque eu dei a Ar por herança aos filhos de Ló.
Then the Lord sayd vnto me, Thou shalt not vexe Moab, neither prouoke them to battel: for I wil not giue thee of their land for a possession, because I haue giuen Ar vnto the children of Lot for a possession.
10 (Os emins habitaram nela antes, povo grande, e numeroso, e alto como gigantes:
The Emims dwelt therein in times past, a people great and many, and tall, as the Anakims.
11 Por gigantes eram eles também contados, como os anaquins; e os moabitas os chamam emins.
They also were taken for gyants as the Anakims: whom the Moabites call Emims.
12 E em Seir habitaram antes os horeus, aos quais os filhos de Esaú expulsaram; e os destruíram de diante de si, e moraram em lugar deles; como fez Israel na terra de sua possessão que lhes deu o SENHOR.)
The Horims also dwelt in Seir before time, whome the children of Esau chased out and destroyed them before them, and dwelt in their steade: as Israel shall doe vnto the land of his possession, which the Lord hath giuen them.
13 Levantai-vos agora, e passai o ribeiro de Zerede. E passamos o ribeiro de Zerede.
Now rise vp, sayd I, and get you ouer the riuer Zered: and we went ouer the riuer Zered.
14 E os dias que andamos de Cades-Barneia até que passamos o ribeiro de Zerede, foram trinta e oito anos; até que se acabou toda a geração dos homens de guerra do meio do acampamento, como o SENHOR lhes havia jurado.
The space also wherein we came from Kadesh-barnea, vntill we were come ouer the riuer Zered, was eight and thirtie yeeres, vntill all the generation of the men of warre were wasted out from among the hoste, as the Lord sware vnto them.
15 E também a mão do SENHOR foi sobre eles para destruí-los do meio do campo, até acabá-los.
For in deede the hand of the Lord was against them, to destroy them from among the hoste, till they were consumed.
16 E aconteceu que quando se acabaram de morrer todos os homens de guerra dentre o povo,
So when all the men of warre were consumed and dead from among the people:
17 O SENHOR me falou, dizendo:
Then the Lord spake vnto me, saying,
18 Tu passarás hoje o termo de Moabe, a Ar,
Thou shalt goe through Ar the coast of Moab this day:
19 E te aproximarás diante dos filhos de Amom: não os perturbeis, nem te metas com eles; porque não te tenho de dar possessão da terra dos filhos de Amom; que aos filhos de Ló a dei por herança.
And thou shalt come neere ouer against the children of Ammon: but shalt not lay siege vnto them, nor moue warre against them: for I will not giue thee of the land of the children of Ammon any possession: for I haue giuen it vnto the children of Lot for a possession.
20 (Por terra de gigantes foi também ela tida: habitaram nela gigantes em outro tempo, aos quais os amonitas chamavam zanzumins;
That also was taken for a land of gyants: for gyants dwelt therein afore time, whome the Ammonites called Zamzummims:
21 Povo grande, e numeroso, e alto, como os anaquins; aos quais o SENHOR destruiu de diante dos amonitas, os quais lhes sucederam, e habitaram em seu lugar:
A people that was great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims: but the Lord destroyed them before them, and they succeeded them in their inheritance, and dwelt in their stead:
22 Como fez com os filhos de Esaú, que habitavam em Seir, de diante dos quais destruiu aos horeus; e eles lhes sucederam, e habitaram em seu lugar até hoje.
As he did to the children of Esau which dwell in Seir, when he destroyed the Horims before them, and they possessed them, and dwelt in their stead vnto this day.
23 E aos aveus que habitavam em vilas até Gaza, os caftoreus que saíram de Caftor os destruíram, e habitaram em seu lugar.)
And the Auims which dwelt in Hazarim euen vnto Azzah, the Caphtorims which came out of Caphtor destroyed them, and dwelt in their steade.
24 Levantai-vos, parti, e passai o ribeiro de Arnom: eis que dei em tua mão a Seom rei de Hesbom, amorreu, e a sua terra: começa a tomar possessão, e empenha-te com ele em guerra.
Rise vp therefore, sayd the Lord: take your iourney, and passe ouer the riuer Arnon: beholde, I haue giuen into thy hand Sihon, the Amorite, King of Heshbon, and his land: begin to possesse it and prouoke him to battell.
25 Hoje começarei a pôr teu medo e teu espanto sobre os povos debaixo de todo o céu, os quais ouvirão tua fama, e tremerão, e se angustiarão diante de ti.
This day wil I begin to send thy feare and thy dread, vpon all people vnder the whole heauen, which shall heare thy fame, and shall tremble and quake before thee.
26 E enviei mensageiros desde o deserto de Quedemote a Seom rei de Hesbom, com palavras de paz, dizendo:
Then I sent messengers out of the wildernes of Kedemoth vnto Sihon King of Heshbon, with wordes of peace, saying,
27 Passarei por tua terra pelo caminho: pelo caminho irei, sem apartar-me à direita nem à esquerda:
Let me passe through thy land: I will go by the hie way: I will neither turne vnto the right hand nor to the left.
28 A comida me venderás por dinheiro e comerei: a água também me darás por dinheiro, e beberei: somente passarei a pé;
Thou shalt sell me meate for money, for to eate, and shalt giue me water for money for to drinke: onely I will go through on my foote,
29 Como o fizeram comigo os filhos de Esaú que habitavam em Seir, e os moabitas que habitavam em Ar; até que passe o Jordão à terra que nos dá o SENHOR nosso Deus.
(As the children of Esau which dwell in Seir, and the Moabites which dwell in Ar, did vnto me) vntill I be come ouer Iorden, into the land which the Lord our God giueth vs.
30 Mas Seom rei de Hesbom não quis que passássemos pelo território seu; porque o SENHOR teu Deus havia endurecido seu espírito, e obstinado seu coração para entregá-lo em tua mão, como hoje.
But Sihon the King of Heshbon would not let vs passe by him: for the Lord thy God had hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, because hee would deliuer him into thine hand, as appeareth this day.
31 E disse-me o SENHOR: Eis que eu comecei a dar diante de ti a Seom e a sua terra; começa a tomar possessão, para que herdes sua terra.
And the Lord sayd vnto me, Beholde, I haue begun to giue Sihon and his land before thee: begin to possesse and inherite his land.
32 E saiu-nos Seom ao encontro, ele e todo seu povo, para lutar em Jaza.
Then came out Sihon to meete vs, him selfe with all his people to fight at Iahaz.
33 Mas o SENHOR nosso Deus o entregou diante de nós; e ferimos a ele e a seus filhos, e a todo seu povo.
But the Lord our God deliuered him into our power, and we smote him, and his sonnes, and all his people.
34 E tomamos então todas suas cidades, e destruímos todas as cidades, homens, e mulheres, e crianças; não deixamos ninguém:
And we tooke all his cities the same time, and destroyed euery citie, men, and women, and children: we let nothing remaine.
35 Somente tomamos para nós os animais, e os despojos das cidades que havíamos tomado.
Onely the cattell we tooke to our selues, and the spoyle of the cities which we tooke,
36 Desde Aroer, que está junto à beira do ribeiro de Arnom, e a cidade que está no ribeiro, até Gileade, não houve cidade que escapasse de nós: todas as entregou o SENHOR nosso Deus em nosso poder.
From Aroer, which is by the banke of the riuer of Arnon, and from the citie that is vpon the riuer, euen vnto Gilead: there was not one citie that escaped vs: for the Lord our God deliuered vp all before vs.
37 Somente à terra dos filhos de Amom não chegaste, nem a tudo o que está à beira do ribeiro de Jaboque nem às cidades do monte, nem a lugar algum que o SENHOR nosso Deus havia proibido.
Onely vnto the land of the children of Ammon thou camest not, nor vnto any place of the riuer Iabbok, nor vnto the cities in the mountaines, nor vnto whatsoeuer the Lord our God forbade vs.
