Amós 5

1 Ouvi esta palavra que eu levanto sobre vós, uma lamentação, ó casa de Israel.

Hear ye this word, which I take up concerning you for a lamentation. The house of Israel is fallen, and it shall rise no more.

2 A virgem Israel caiu, não poderá mais se levantar; abandonada está sobre sua terra, ninguém há que a levante.

The virgin of Israel is cast down upon her land, there is none to raise her up.

3 Porque assim diz o Senhor DEUS: A cidade que enviou mil [soldados] sobrará com cem; e a que enviou cem sobrará com dez, na casa de Israel.

For thus saith the Lord God: The city, out of which came forth a thousand, there shall be left in it a hundred: and out of which there came a hundred, there shall be left in it ten, in the house of Israel.

4 Porque assim diz o SENHOR à casa de Israel: Buscai-me, e vivereis;

For thus saith the Lord to the house of Israel: Seek ye me, and you shall live.

5 Porém não busqueis a Betel nem venhais a Gilgal, nem passeis a Berseba; porque Gilgal será levada em cativeiro, e Betel será reduzida a nada.

But seek not Bethel, and go not into Galgal, neither shall you pass over to Bersabee: for Galgal shall go into captivity, and Bethel shall be unprofitable.

6 Buscai ao SENHOR, e vivereis; para que não aconteça que surja como fogo à casa de José, e a consuma, sem haver em Betel quem o apague.

Seek ye the Lord, and live: lest the house of Joseph be burnt with fire, and it shall devour, and there shall be none to quench Bethel.

7 Vós perverteis o juízo em absinto, e abandonam a justiça no chão.

You that turn judgment into wormwood, and forsake justice in the land,

8 Ele é o que fez as Plêiades e o Órion, e torna as trevas em manhã, e faz escurecer o dia em noite; ele chama as águas do mar, e as derrama sobre a face da terra; EU-SOU é o seu nome.

Seek him that maketh Arcturus, and Orion, and that turneth darkness into morning, and that changeth day into night: that calleth the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The Lord is his name.

9 Ele causa súbita destruição sobre o forte, e torna em ruínas a fortaleza.

He that with a smile bringeth destruction upon the strong, and waste upon the mighty.

10 Na porta da cidade eles odeiam ao que repreende, e abominam ao que fala com justiça.

They have hated him that rebuketh in the gate: and have abhorred him that speaketh perfectly.

11 Portanto, visto que pisoteais ao pobre e tomais dele um carga de trigo; assim edificastes casas de pedras lavradas, mas não habitareis nelas; plantastes belas vinhas, mas não bebereis o vinho delas.

Therefore because you robbed the poor, and took the choice prey from him: you shall build houses with square stone, and shall not dwell in them: you shall plant most delightful vineyards, and shall not drink the wine of them.

12 Pois sei que vossas transgressões são muitas e vossos pecados são grandes; afligis o justo, e recebeis suborno, e negam o direito dos necessitados na porta da cidade.

Because I know your manifold crimes, and your grievous sins: enemies of the just, taking bribes, and oppressing the poor in the gate.

13 Por isso o prudente em tal tempo fica calado, porque é um tempo mau.

Therefore the prudent shall keep silence at that time, for it is an evil time.

14 Buscai o bem, e não o mal, para que vivais; e assim o SENHOR Deus dos exércitos estará convosco, como dizeis.

Seek ye good, and not evil, that you may live: and the Lord the God of hosts will be with you, as you have said.

15 Odiai o mal, amai o bem, e praticai justiça na porta da cidade; talvez o SENHOR Deus dos exércitos tenha piedade do restante [do povo] de José.

Hate evil, and love good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be the Lord the God of hosts may have mercy on the remnant of Joseph.

16 Portanto assim diz o SENHOR Deus dos exércitos, o Senhor: Em todas as praças haverá pranto, e em todas as ruas dirão: Ai! ai! E chamarão o lavrador ao choro, e os que sabem prantear ao lamento.

Therefore thus saith the Lord the God of hosts the sovereign Lord: In every street there shall be wailing: and in all places that are without, they shall say: Alas, alas! and they shall call the husbandman to mourning, and such as are skillful in lamentation to lament.

17 E em todas as vinhas haverá pranto, porque passarei por meio de ti, diz o SENHOR.

And in all vineyards there shall be wailing: because I will pass through in the midst of thee, saith the Lord.

18 Ai dos que desejam o dia do SENHOR! Para que quereis este dia do SENHOR? Será trevas, e não luz.

Woe to them that desire the day of the Lord: to what end is it for you? the day of the Lord is darkness, and not light.

19 Será como se alguém fugisse do leão, e o urso se encontrasse com ele; ou como se entrasse em alguma casa e apoiasse sua mão à parede, e fosse picado por uma cobra.

As if a man should flee from the face of a lion, and a bear should meet him: or enter into the house, and lean with his hand upon the wall, and a serpent should bite him.

20 Por acaso não será o dia do SENHOR trevas e não luz, uma escuridão sem claridade alguma?

Shall not the day of the Lord be darkness, and not light: and obscurity, and no brightness in it?

21 Eu odeio, desprezo vossas solenidades, e não aguento vossas reuniões religiosas.

I hate, and have rejected your festivities: and I will not receive the odour of your assemblies.

22 Ainda que me ofereçais holocaustos e vossas ofertas de alimentos, não os aceitarei; nem darei atenção a vossas ofertas de gratidão de vossos animais cevados.

And if you offer me holocausts, and your gifts, I will not receive them: neither will I regard the vows of your fat beasts.

23 Afasta de mim os teus muitos cânticos; também não ouvirei as melodias de teus instrumentos.

Take away from me the tumult of thy songs: and I will not hear the canticles of thy harp.

24 Em vez disso, corra o juízo como as águas, e a justiça como um ribeiro impetuoso.

But judgment shall be revealed as water, and justice as a mighty torrent.

25 Por acaso vós oferecestes a mim sacrifícios e ofertas de alimento no deserto durante os quarenta anos, ó casa de Israel?

Did you offer victims and sacrifices to me in the desert for forty years, O house of Israel?

26 Em vez disso, levastes as imagens de vosso rei Sicute, e de Quium, a estrela de vossos deus, que fizestes para vós mesmos.

But you carried a tabernacle for your Moloch, and the image of your idols, the star of your god, which you made to yourselves.

27 Portanto eu vos levarei cativos, para além de Damasco, diz o SENHOR, cujo nome é Deus dos exércitos.

And I will cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus, saith the Lord, the God of hosts is his name.
