Amós 3

1 Ouvi esta palavra que o SENHOR fala contra vós, ó filhos de Israel, contra toda família que eu fiz subir da terra do Egito:

Hear this word that the LORD has spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family that I brought up out of the land of Egypt:

2 Somente reconheci a vós mesmos de todas as famílias da terra; por isso punirei contra vós todas as vossas injustiças.

“Only you have I known from all the families of the earth; therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.”

3 Por acaso irão dois juntos, se não estiverem de acordo?

Can two walk together without agreeing where to go?

4 Rugirá o leão no bosque se não houver presa? Dará o leãozinho seu som desde sua cova, se nada tiver capturado?

Does a lion roar in the forest when he has no prey? Does a young lion growl in his den if he has caught nothing?

5 Cairá o ave no laço na terra, se não houver armadilha para ela? Se levantará o laço da terra, se nada houver prendido?

Does a bird land in a snare where no bait has been set? Does a trap spring from the ground when it has nothing to catch?

6 Tocará a trombeta na cidade, e o povo não se estremecerá? Haverá alguma calamidade na cidade que o SENHOR não tenha feito?

If a ram’s horn sounds in a city, do the people not tremble? If calamity comes to a city, has not the LORD caused it?

7 Certamente o Senhor DEUS não fará coisa alguma sem ter revelado seu segredo a seus servos os profetas.

Surely the Lord GOD does nothing without revealing His plan to His servants the prophets.

8 Quando o leão ruge, quem não temerá? Quando o Senhor DEUS fala, quem não profetizará?

The lion has roared— who will not fear? The Lord GOD has spoken— who will not prophesy?

9 Anunciai nos palácios de Asdode e nos palácios da terra do Egito, e dizei: Reuni-vos sobre os montes de Samaria, e vede os grandes tumultos no meio dela, e as opressões no meio dela.

Proclaim to the citadels of Ashdod and to the citadels of Egypt: “Assemble on the mountains of Samaria; see the great unrest in the city and the acts of oppression in her midst.”

10 E não sabem fazer o que é correto, diz o SENHOR; em seus palácios acumulam bens [obtidos] por violência e destruição.

“For they know not how to do right,” declares the LORD. “They store up violence and destruction in their citadels.”

11 Portanto o Senhor DEUS diz assim: Um inimigo! Ele está ao redor da terra, e derrubará de ti a tua fortaleza, e teus palácios serão saqueados.

Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: “An enemy will surround the land; he will pull down your strongholds and plunder your citadels.”

12 Assim diz o SENHOR: Tal como o pastor livra da boca do leão duas pernas ou a ponta de uma orelha, assim os filhos de Israel que moram em Samaria serão livrados, com um canto da cama, e um pedaço do leito.

This is what the LORD says: “As the shepherd snatches from the mouth of the lion two legs or a piece of an ear, so the Israelites dwelling in Samaria will be rescued having just the corner of a bed or the cushion of a couch.

13 Ouvi e testemunhai contra a casa de Jacó, diz o SENHOR Deus dos exércitos;

Hear and testify against the house of Jacob, declares the Lord GOD, the God of Hosts.

14 Que no dia em que eu punir as transgressões de Israel sobre ele, também farei punição sobre os altares de Betel; e as pontas do altar serão cortadas, e cairão por terra.

On the day I punish Israel for their transgressions, I will visit destruction on the altars of Bethel; the horns of the altar will be cut off, and they will fall to the ground.

15 E ferirei a casa do inverno com a casa do verão, e as casas de marfim se acabarão; e muitas casas terão fim, diz o SENHOR.

I will tear down the winter house along with the summer house; the houses of ivory will also perish, and the great houses will come to an end,”
