Atos 25
1 Então Festo, tendo entrado na província, subiu dali três dias depois de Cesareia a Jerusalém.
Now when Festus had come into the province, after three days he ascended from Cesarea to Jerusalem.
2 E o sumo sacerdote e os líderes dos judeus compareceram diante dele contra Paulo, e lhe rogaram;
Then the high priest and the chief of the Jews informed him against Paul, and besought him,
3 Pedindo favor contra ele, para que o fizesse vir a Jerusalém, preparando cilada para o matarem no caminho.
And desired favor against him, that he would send for him to Jerusalem, laying wait in the way to kill him.
4 Mas Festo respondeu que Paulo estava guardado em Cesareia, e que ele logo estava indo [para lá].
But Festus answered, that Paul should be kept at Cesarea, and that he himself would depart shortly [thither].
5 Ele disse: Então aqueles dentre vós que podem, desçam com [igo], e se houver alguma coisa errada neste homem, acusem-no.
Let them therefore, said he, who among you are able, go down with [me], and accuse this man, if there is any wickedness in him.
6 E ele, tendo ficado entre eles mais de dez dias, desceu a Cesareia; e tendo se sentado no tribunal no [dia] seguinte, mandou que trouxessem a Paulo.
And when he had tarried among them more than ten days, he went down to Cesarea; and the next day sitting on the judgment-seat, commanded Paul to be brought.
7 E tendo ele vindo, os judeus que haviam descido de Jerusalém [o] rodearam, trazendo contra Paulo muitas e graves acusações, que não podiam provar.
And when he had come, the Jews who came down from Jerusalem stood around, and laid many and grievous complaints against Paul, which they could not prove;
8 Ele, disse em sua defesa: Eu não pequei nem contra a Lei dos judeus, nem contra o Templo, nem contra César, em coisa alguma.
While he answered for himself, Neither against the law of the Jews, neither against the temple, nor yet against Cesar have I committed any offense.
9 Mas Festo, querendo agradar aos judeus, respondendo a Paulo, disse: Tu queres subir a Jerusalém e ser julgado sobre estas coisas diante de mim?
But Festus, willing to do the Jews a pleasure, answered Paul, and said, Wilt thou go to Jerusalem, and there be judged concerning these things before me?
10 E Paulo disse: Eu estou diante do tribunal de César, onde eu tenho que ser julgado; a nenhum dos judeus eu fiz mal, assim como também tu sabes muito bem.
Then said Paul, I stand at Cesar's tribunal, where I ought to be judged: to the Jews have I done no wrong, as thou very well knowest.
11 Porque se eu fiz algum mal, ou cometi algo digno de morte, eu não recuso morrer; mas se nada há das coisas que este me acusam, ninguém pode me entregar a eles. Eu apelo a César.
For if I am an offender, or have committed any thing worthy of death, I refuse not to die: but if there is none of these things of which these accuse me, no man may deliver me to them. I appeal to Cesar.
12 Então Paulo, tendo conversado com o Conselho, respondeu: Tu apelaste a César; a César irás.
Then Festus, when he had conferred with the council, answered, Hast thou appealed to Cesar? to Cesar thou shalt go.
13 E passados alguns dias, o Rei Agripa e Berenice vieram a Cesareia para saudar a Festo.
And after certain days, king Agrippa and Bernice came to Cesarea, to salute Festus.
14 E quando tinham ficado ali muitos dias, Festo contou ao rei os assuntos de Paulo, dizendo: Um certo homem foi deixado [aqui] preso por Félix;
And when they had been there many days, Festus declared Paul's cause to the king, saying, There is a certain man left in bonds by Felix:
15 Por causa do qual, estando eu em Jerusalém, os chefes dos sacerdotes e os anciãos dos judeus compareceram [a mim], pedindo julgamento contra ele.
About whom, when I was at Jerusalem, the chief priests and the elders of the Jews informed [me], desiring [to have] judgment against him.
16 Aos quais eu respondi não ser costume dos romanos entregar a algum homem à morte, antes que o acusado tenha seus acusadores face a face, e tenha oportunidade para se defender da acusação.
To whom I answered, It is not the manner of the Romans to deliver any man to die, before he who is accused hath the accusers face to face, and hath license to answer for himself concerning the crime laid against him.
17 Portanto, tendo eles se reunido aqui, fazendo nenhum adiamento, no [dia] seguinte, estando eu sentado no tribunal, mandei trazer ao homem.
Therefore, when they had come hither, without any delay on the morrow I sat on the judgment-seat, and commanded the man to be brought forth;
18 Do qual os acusadores estando [aqui] presentes, trouxeram como acusação nenhuma das coisas que eu suspeitava.
Against whom, when the accusers stood up, they brought no accusation of such things as I supposed:
19 Mas tinham contra ele algumas questões relativas às próprias crenças deles, e de um certo morto Jesus, o qual Paulo afirmava estar vivo.
But had certain questions against him of their own superstition, and of one Jesus who was dead, whom Paul affirmed to be alive.
20 E eu, estando em duvida sobre [como] interrogar esta causa, disse, [perguntando] se ele queria ir a Jerusalém, e lá ser julgado sobre estas coisas.
And because I doubted of such manner of questions, I asked [him] whether he would go to Jerusalem, and there be judged concerning these matters.
21 Porém Paulo, tendo apelado para ser guardado ao interrogatório do imperador, mandei que o guardassem, até que eu o enviasse a César.
But when Paul had appealed to be reserved to the hearing of Augustus, I commanded him to be kept till I might send him to Cesar.
22 E Agripa disse a Festo: Eu também queria ouvir a este homem. E ele disse: E amanhã tu o ouvirás.
Then Agrippa said to Festus, I would also hear the man myself. To-morrow, said he, thou shalt hear him.
23 Então no dia seguinte, tendo vindo Agripa e Berenice, com muita pompa, e entrando no auditório com os comandantes e os homens mais importantes da cidade, trouxeram a Paulo por ordem de Festo.
And on the morrow, when Agrippa had come, and Bernice, with great pomp, and had entered into the place of hearing, with the chief captains and principal men of the city, at the command of Festus Paul was brought forth.
24 E Festo disse: Rei Agripa, e todos os homens que estais presentes [aqui] conosco, vós vedes este [homem], a quem toda a multidão dos judeus, tanto em Jerusalém como aqui, tem apelado a mim, clamando que ele não deve mais viver.
And Festus said, King Agrippa, and all men who are here present with us, ye see this man about whom all the multitude of the Jews have dealt with me, both at Jerusalem, and [also] here, crying that he ought not to live any longer.
25 Mas tendo eu achado nada que ele tenha feito que fosse digno de morte, e também tendo ele mesmo apelado ao imperador, eu decidi enviá-lo.
But when I found that he had committed nothing worthy of death, and that he himself hath appealed to Augustus, I have determined to send him.
26 Do qual eu não tenho coisa alguma certa para escrever ao [meu] senhor; por isso que eu o trouxe diante de vós; e principalmente diante de ti, rei Agripa, para que, sendo feita a investigação, eu tenha algo para escrever.
Of whom I have no certain thing to write to my lord. Wherefore I have brought him forth before you, and specially before thee, O king Agrippa, that after examination had, I may have somewhat to write.
27 Porque não me parece razoável enviar a um prisioneiro, sem também informar as acusações contra ele.
For it seemeth to me unreasonable to send a prisoner, and not also to signify the crimes [laid] against him.
