Atos 13

1 E havia em Antioquia, na igreja que estava [ali], alguns profetas e mestres: Barnabé e Simeão, chamado Níger, e Lúcio cireneu, e Manaem, que tinha sido criado na infância junto com Herodes o Tetrarca, e Saulo.

Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers, as Barnabas, and Simeon called Niger, and Lucius the Cyrenean, and Manaen who had been educated with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul;

2 E tendo eles prestado serviço ao Senhor, e jejuado, o Espirito Santo disse: Separai-me a Barnabé e a Saulo, para a obra para a qual eu os tenho chamado.

and as they were ministring to the Lord, and fasting, the holy Spirit said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul, for the work to which I have called them.

3 Então jejuando, e orando, e pondo as mãos sobre eles, [os] despediram.

Then having fasted and prayed and laid their hands on them they sent them away.

4 Portanto estes, enviados pelo Espírito Santo, desceram a Selêucia, e dali navegaram para o Chipre.

These therefore being sent forth by the holy Spirit came down to Seleucia, and from thence they sailed away to Cyprus.

5 E tendo chegado a Salamina, anunciavam a palavra de Deus nas sinagogas dos judeus; e também tinham a João como trabalhador [para os auxiliar].

And when they arrived at Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: and they had also John for their assistant.

6 E tendo eles atravessado a Ilha até Pafo, acharam a um certo mago, falso profeta, judeu, cujo nome era Barjesus.

And going quite through the island even to Paphos, they found there a certain magician, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Barjesus.

7 O qual estava com o procônsul Sérgio Paulo, homem prudente. Este, tendo chamado a si a Barnabé, e a Saulo, procurava muito ouvir a palavra de Deus.

Who was with the proconsul Sergius Paulus, an understanding man: who calling for Barnabas and Saul, desired to hear the word of God.

8 Mas resistia-lhes Elimas, o mago (que assim significa seu nome), procurando afastar o procônsul da fé.

But Elymas the magician (for so his name signifies) withstood them endeavouring to turn away the proconsul from the faith.

9 Mas Saulo, que também [se chama] Paulo, cheio do Espírito Santo, e olhando fixamente para ele, disse:

Then Saul, who also is called Paul, being filled with the holy Spirit, and looking earnestly at him,

10 Ó filho do diabo, cheio de toda enganação e toda malícia, inimigo de toda justiça, não cessarás de perverter os corretos caminhos do Senhor?

said, O thou son of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, who art full of all deceit and craft, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?

11 E agora, eis que a mão do Senhor [está] contra ti, e serás cego, não vendo o sol por algum tempo. E no mesmo instante caiu sobre ele um embaçamento, e trevas; e ele, andando ao redor, procurava alguém que o guiasse pela mão.

And now behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing even the sun for a time. And immediately there fell upon him a mist and darkness; and groping about he sought for somebody to lead him by the hand.

12 Então o procônsul, vendo o que tinha acontecido, creu, espantado pela doutrina do Senhor.

Then the proconsul, seeing what was done, believed, being struck with admiration at the doctrine of the Lord.

13 E tendo partido de Pafo, Paulo e os que estavam com ele foram a Perges, [cidade] da Panfília. Mas João, separando-se deles, voltou a Jerusalém.

Now Paul and those that were with him loosing from Paphos, came to Perga in Pamphylia: but John departed from them and returned to Jerusalem.

14 E eles, tendo passado de Perges, vieram a Antioquia, [cidade] da Pisídia; e ao entrarem na sinagoga [n] um dia de sábado, sentaram-se.

And they passing on from Perga came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the sabbath-day, and sat down.

15 E depois da leitura da Lei e dos profetas, os chefes da sinagoga lhes mandaram, dizendo: Homens irmãos, se em vós há [alguma] palavra de exortação ao povo, dizei.

And after the reading of the law and the prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, Brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation to the people, deliver it.

16 E Paulo, levantando-se e fazendo gesto com a mão, disse: Homens israelitas, e [vós] os que temeis a Deus, ouvi:

Then Paul stood up, and made a sign with his hand, and said, Men of Israel, and ye that fear God, give audience.

17 O Deus deste povo de Israel escolheu a nossos pais, e exaltou ao povo, sendo eles estrangeiros na terra do Egito, e com o braço levantando, ele os tirou dela.

---The God of this people Israel chose our fathers, and raised the people, while they sojourned in the land of Egypt, and with mighty power brought them out of it.

18 E pelo tempo de cerca de quarenta anos, ele suportou os costumes deles no deserto.

And about forty years He bare with their behaviour in the wilderness.

19 E tendo destruído a sete nações na terra de Canaã, repartiu-lhes as terras por sorte.

And destroying seven nations in the land of Canaan, He gave them their country for an inheritance.

20 E depois disto, cerca de quatrocentos e cinquenta anos, ele [lhes] deu juízes, até o profeta Samuel.

And after these things, about the space of four hundred and fifty years, He gave them judges till Samuel the prophet.

21 E depois disto, pediram a um Rei, e ele lhes deu a Saul, filho de Quis, homem da tribo de Benjamim, [durante] quarenta anos.

And then they desired a king: and God gave them Saul the Son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for the space of forty years.

22 E tirando a este, levantou-lhes por rei a Davi, ao qual também deu testemunho, e disse: Eu achei a Davi, [filho] de Jessé, um homem conforme o meu coração, que fará toda a minha vontade.

And having removed him, He raised up David for their king, to whom also He gave testimony and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after my own heart, who will perform all my will.

23 Da descendência deste, conforme a promessa, Deus trouxe um salvador a Israel, Jesus;

Of this man's seed, according to the promise, hath God raised up to Israel Jesus the Saviour:

24 Tendo João primeiro, antes de sua vinda, pregado o batismo de arrependimento a todo o povo de Israel.

John having preached before his coming the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.

25 Mas quando João cumpriu [sua] carreira, disse: Quem vós pensais que eu sou? Eu não sou o [Cristo], mas eis que após mim vem aquele, cujas sandálias dos pés eu não sou digno de desatar.

And as John was fulfilling his course, he said, Whom do ye take me to be? I am not He: but behold there cometh one after me, the shoes of whose feet I am not worthy to unloose.

26 Homens irmãos, filhos da descendência de Abraão, e os que dentre vós temem a Deus, a vós é enviada a palavra desta salvação.

---Men and brethren, children of the race of Abraham, and all those among you that fear God, to you is the word of this salvation sent.

27 Porque os que habitavam em Jerusalém, e seus líderes, não conhecendo a este, ao condenarem [-no], cumpriram as vozes dos profetas, que são lidas todos os sábados.

For the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and their rulers, not knowing Him, have indeed fulfilled the words of the prophets, which are read every sabbath-day, in condemning Him.

28 E [mesmo] achando nenhum motivo para morte, pediram a Pilatos que fosse morto.

And though they found in Him no capital offence, yet they desired of Pilate that He might be put to death.

29 E tendo eles cumprido todas as coisas que estavam escritas sobre ele, tirando [-o] do madeiro, puseram [-no] na sepultura.

And when they had finished all things that were written concerning Him, they took Him down from the cross and laid Him in a tomb.

30 Mas Deus o ressuscitou dos mortos.

But God raised Him from the dead:

31 O qual foi visto durante muitos dias pelos que haviam subido com ele da Galileia, que são suas testemunhas para com o povo.

and He was seen for many days by those that came up with Him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses to the people.

32 E nós vos anunciamos o Evangelho da promessa que foi feita aos pais; ao qual Deus já nos cumpriu a nós, filhos deles, ressuscitando a Jesus.

And we bring you good tidings,

33 Assim como está escrito no salmo segundo: Tu és meu Filho, hoje eu te gerei.

that the promise made unto the fathers God hath fulfilled unto us their children, having raised up Jesus again: as it is also written in the second psalm, "Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee."

34 E [quanto a] que o ressuscitasse dos mortos, para nunca mais voltar à degradação, assim disse: Eu vos darei as fiéis beneficências de Davi.

And that He raised Him from the dead, no more to return to the place of corruption, He hath said thus, "I will give you the sure mercies of David."

35 Por isso que também em outro [salmo] ele diz: Não permitirás que teu Santo veja degradação.

Wherefore he saith also in another place, Thou wilt not suffer thine holy One to see corruption.

36 Porque, na verdade, tendo Davi servido ao conselho de Deus, morreu, foi posto junto a seus pais, e viu degradação.

Now David having served his own generation according to the will of God, fell asleep, and was laid with his fathers, and saw corruption: but He whom God raised,

37 Mas aquele a quem Deus ressuscitou nenhuma degradação viu.

did not see corruption.

38 Seja-vos pois conhecido, homens irmãos, que por este vos é anunciado o perdão dos pecados.

Be it known therefore unto you, brethren, that through Him is preached unto you the remission of sins:

39 E de tudo o que pela lei de Moisés não pudestes ser justificados, neste é justificado todo aquele que crê.

and by Him every one that believeth is justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

40 Então vede, para que não venha sobre vós o que está escrito nos [livros dos] profetas:

Beware therefore, least what is spoken in the prophets come upon you,

41 [Vós] desprezadores, vede e espantai-vos, e desaparecei-vos; porque eu opero obra em vossos dias, obra na qual não crereis, se alguém vos contar.

"Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and vanish; for I do a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though any one should declare it unto you."

42 E enquanto saíam da sinagoga, rogaram [-lhes] que no sábado seguinte eles lhes falassem estas palavras.

As they went out of the synagogue of the Jews, the Gentiles desired that these words might be spoken to them on the following sabbath.

43 E tendo terminado [a reunião] da sinagoga, muitos dos judeus, e dos religiosos prosélitos, seguiram a Paulo e a Barnabé; os quais, falando-lhes, exortavam-nos a permanecerem na graça de Deus.

And when the synagogue was broken up, many of the Jews and of the devout proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas; who addressing themselves to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.

44 E no sábado seguinte ajuntou-se quase toda a cidade para ouvir a palavra de Deus.

And on the next sabbath almost all the city came together to hear the word of God.

45 Mas os Judeus, ao verem as multidões, ficaram cheios de inveja, e falavam contrariamente ao que Paulo dizia, falando contrariamente e blasfemando.

But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and contradicted the things which were spoken by Paul, opposing and reviling him.

46 Mas Paulo e Barnabé, usando de ousadia, disseram: Era necessário que a palavra de Deus fosse primeiro falada a vós; mas já que a rejeitais, e não vos julgais dignos da vida eterna, eis que nós nos viramos [em direção] aos gentios. (aiōnios g166)

Then Paul and Barnabas boldly said, It was necessary that the word of God should be first spoken to you; but since ye reject it, and judge not yourselves worthy of eternal life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles: (aiōnios g166)

47 Porque assim o Senhor nos mandou, [dizendo]: Eu te pus como luz para os gentios, para que tu sejas como salvação até às extremidades da terra.

for so the Lord hath commanded us, saying, "I have appointed thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation to the utmost part of the earth."

48 E os gentios, tendo ouvido [isto], alegraram-se, e glorificavam ao Senhor; e creram todos quantos estavam determinados para a vida eterna. (aiōnios g166)

And when the Gentiles heard this, they rejoiced and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were determined for eternal life believed. (aiōnios g166)

49 E a palavra do Senhor era divulgada por toda aquela região.

And the word of the Lord was spread through the whole country:

50 Mas os judeus incitaram algumas mulheres devotas e honradas, e aos líderes da cidade, e levantaram perseguição contra Paulo e Barnabé, e os expulsaram de seus limites.

but the Jews stirred up devout and honorable women, and the heads of the city, and raised a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and drove them out of their territories.

51 Mas eles, sacudindo contra eles o pó dos seus pés, vieram a Icônio.

But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came to Iconium.

52 E os discípulos se enchiam de alegria e do Espírito Santo.

And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the holy Spirit.
