2 Tessalonicenses 1

1 Paulo, e Silvano, e Timóteo, à igreja dos tessalonicenses, em Deus nosso Pai, e no Senhor Jesus Cristo.

To the Thessalonian Church in union with God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, From Paul, Silas, and Timothy.

2 [Haja entre vós] graça e paz de nosso Pai, e do Senhor Jesus Cristo.

May God, the Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ bless you and give you peace.

3 Nós sempre devemos dar graças a Deus por vós, irmãos, como é o correto, porque vossa fé cresce muito, e o amor de cada um de todos vós pelos outros é cada vez maior;

Brothers, it is our duty always to thank God about you, as is but right, considering the wonderful growth of your faith, and because, without exception, your love for one another is continually increasing.

4 De maneira que nós mesmos nos orgulhamos de vós nas igrejas de Deus, por causa de vossa paciência e fé, em todas as vossas perseguições aflições que suportais;

So much is this the case that we ourselves speak with pride, before the Churches of God, of the patience and faith which you have shown, in spite of all the persecutions and troubles that you are enduring.

5 [Que é] prova clara do justo julgamento de Deus, para que sejais considerados dignos do Reino de Deus, pelo qual também sofreis;

These persecutions will vindicate the justice of God’s judgment, and will result in your being reckoned worthy of God’s Kingdom, for the sake of which you are now afflicted;

6 Pois é justo diante de Deus pagar com aflição aos que vos afligem;

since God deems it just to inflict suffering upon those who are now inflicting suffering upon you,

7 E a vós que sois afligidos, alívio conosco, quando o Senhor Jesus aparecer do céu com os anjos de seu poder,

and to give relief to you who are suffering, as well as to us, at the Appearing of the Lord Jesus from Heaven with his mighty angels, ‘in flaming fire.’

8 Com labareda de fogo, vingando os que não conhecem a Deus, e os que não obedecem ao Evangelho do nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo,

Then he will ‘inflict punishment upon those who refuse to know God, and upon those who turn a deaf ear’ to the Good News of Jesus, our Lord.

9 Os quais serão punidos com o castigo da eterna perdição, [longe] da face do Senhor, e da glória de sua força; (aiōnios g166)

These men will pay the penalty of unutterable Ruin — banished ‘from the presence of the Lord and from the glorious manifestation of his might, (aiōnios g166)

10 Quando ele vier para ser glorificado em seus santos, e naquele dia se fazer admirável em todos os que creem (porque nosso testemunho entre vós foi crido).

when he comes to be honour ed in his People,’ and to be revered in all who have learned to believe in him (for you also believed our testimony) — as he will be on ‘That Day.’

11 Por isso que também sempre rogamos por vós, que nosso Deus vos faça dignos do chamamento, e cumpra todo bom desejo e a obra da fé com poder.

With this in view, our constant prayer for you is that our God may count you worthy of the Call that you have received, and by his power make perfect your delight in all goodness and the efforts that have resulted from your faith.

12 Para que o nome de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo seja glorificado em vós, e vós nele, segundo a graça de nosso Deus, e do Senhor Jesus Cristo.

Then, in the loving-kindness of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ, will the name of Jesus, our Lord, be honoured in you, and you in him.
