2 Samuel 15

1 Aconteceu depois disto, que Absalão se fez de carros e cavalos, e cinquenta que corressem diante dele.

And it came to pass after this, that Absalom prepared him chariots and horses, and fifty men to run before him.

2 E levantava-se Absalão de manhã, e punha-se a um lado do caminho da porta; e a qualquer um que tinha pleito e vinha ao rei a juízo, Absalão lhe chamava a si, e dizia-lhe: De que cidade és? E ele respondia: Teu servo é de uma das tribos de Israel.

And Absalom rose early, and stood beside the way of the gate: and it was so, that when any man that had a controversy came to the king for judgment, then Absalom called to him, and said, Of what city art thou? And he said, Thy servant is one of the tribes of Israel.

3 Então Absalão lhe dizia: Olha que tuas palavras são boas e justas: mas não tens quem te ouça pelo rei.

And Absalom said to him, See, thy matters are good and right; but there is no man deputed by the king to hear thee.

4 E dizia Absalão: Quem me dera se eu fosse constituído juiz na terra, para que viessem a mim todos os que têm pleito ou negócio, que eu lhes faria justiça!

Absalom said moreover, O that I were made judge in the land, that every man who hath any suit or cause might come to me, and I would do him justice!

5 E acontecia que, quando alguém se chegava para inclinar-se a ele, ele estendia sua mão, e o tomava, e o beijava.

And it was so, that when any man came near to him to do him obeisance, he put forth his hand, and took him, and kissed him.

6 E desta maneira fazia com todo Israel que vinha ao rei a juízo: e assim roubava Absalão o coração dos de Israel.

And in this manner did Absalom to all Israel that came to the king for judgment: so Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel.

7 E ao fim de quarenta anos aconteceu que Absalão disse ao rei: Eu te rogo me permitas que vá a Hebrom, a pagar meu voto que ei prometido ao SENHOR:

And it came to pass after forty years, that Absalom said to the king, I pray thee, let me go and pay my vow, which I have vowed to the LORD, in Hebron.

8 Porque teu servo fez voto quando estava em Gesur em Síria, dizendo: Se o SENHOR me voltar a Jerusalém, eu servirei ao SENHOR.

For thy servant vowed a vow while I abode at Geshur in Syria, saying, If the LORD shall bring me again indeed to Jerusalem, then I will serve the LORD.

9 E o rei disse: Vai em paz. E ele se levantou, e se foi a Hebrom.

And the king said to him, Go in peace. So he arose, and went to Hebron.

10 Porém enviou Absalão espias por todas as tribos de Israel, dizendo: Quando ouvirdes o som da trombeta, direis: Absalão reina em Hebrom.

But Absalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, As soon as ye hear the sound of the trumpet, then ye shall say, Absalom reigneth in Hebron.

11 E foram com Absalão duzentos homens de Jerusalém por ele convidados, os quais iam em sua ingenuidade, sem saber nada.

And with Absalom went two hundred men from Jerusalem, that were invited; and they went in their simplicity, and they knew not any thing.

12 Também enviou Absalão por Aitofel gilonita, do conselho de Davi, a Gilo sua cidade, enquanto fazia seus sacrifícios. E a conspiração veio a ser grande, pois se ia aumentando o povo com Absalão.

And Absalom sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, David’s counsellor, from his city, even from Giloh, while he offered sacrifices. And the conspiracy was strong; for the people increased continually with Absalom.

13 E veio o aviso a Davi, dizendo: O coração de todo Israel segue Absalão.

And there came a messenger to David, saying, The hearts of the men of Israel are after Absalom.

14 Então Davi disse a todos os seus servos que estavam com ele em Jerusalém: Levantai-vos, e fujamos, porque não poderemos escapar diante de Absalão; apressai-vos a partir, não seja que se apressando ele nos alcance, e lance o mal sobre nós, e fira a cidade a fio de espada.

And David said to all his servants that were with him at Jerusalem, Arise, and let us flee; for we shall not else escape from Absalom: make speed to depart, lest he should overtake us suddenly, and bring evil upon us, and smite the city with the edge of the sword.

15 E os servos do rei disseram ao rei: Eis que, teus servos estão prontos a tudo que nosso senhor, o rei, decidir fazer.

And the king’s servants said to the king, Behold, thy servants are ready to do whatever my lord the king shall appoint.

16 O rei então saiu, com toda sua família depois dele. E deixou o rei dez mulheres concubinas para que guardassem a casa.

And the king went forth, and all his household after him. And the king left ten women, who were concubines, to keep the house.

17 Saiu pois o rei com todo o povo que lhe seguia, e pararam-se em um lugar distante.

And the king went forth, and all the people after him, and tarried in a place that was far off.

18 E todos os seus servos passavam a seu lado, com todos os quereteus e peleteus; e todos os giteus, seiscentos homens que haviam vindo a pé desde Gate, iam diante do rei.

And all his servants passed on by his side; and all the Cherethites, and all the Pelethites, and all the Gittites, six hundred men who came after him from Gath, passed on before the king.

19 E disse o rei a Itai giteu: Para que vens tu também conosco? Volta, e fica com o rei; porque tu és estrangeiro, e desterrado também de teu lugar.

Then said the king to Ittai the Gittite, Why goest thou also with us? return to thy place, and abide with the king: for thou art a stranger, and also an exile.

20 Ontem vieste, e tenho-te de fazer hoje que mudes lugar para ir conosco? Eu vou como vou: tu volta, e faze voltar a teus irmãos: em ti haja misericórdia e verdade.

Though thou camest but yesterday, should I this day make thee go up and down with us? seeing I go wherever I may, return thou, and take back thy brethren: mercy and truth be with thee.

21 E respondeu Itai ao rei, dizendo: Vive Deus, e vive meu senhor o rei, que, ou para morte ou para vida, de onde meu senhor o rei estiver, ali estará também teu servo.

And Ittai answered the king, and said, As the LORD liveth, and as my lord the king liveth, surely in what place my lord the king shall be, whether in death or life, even there also will thy servant be.

22 Então Davi disse a Itai: Vem, pois, e passa. E passou Itai giteu, e todos os seus homens, e toda sua família.

And David said to Ittai, Go and pass over. And Ittai the Gittite passed over, and all his men, and all the little ones that were with him.

23 E toda aquela terra chorou em alta voz; passou, logo, toda a gente o ribeiro de Cedrom; também passou o rei, e todo aquele povo passou, ao caminho que vai ao deserto.

And all the country wept with a loud voice, and all the people passed over: the king also himself passed over the brook Kidron, and all the people passed over, toward the way of the wilderness.

24 E eis que, também ia Zadoque, e com ele todos os levitas que levavam a arca do pacto de Deus; e assentaram a arca do pacto de Deus. E subiu Abiatar depois que acabou de sair da cidade todo aquele povo.

And lo Zadok also, and all the Levites were with him, bearing the ark of the covenant of God: and they set down the ark of God; and Abiathar went up, until all the people had passed out of the city.

25 Porém disse o rei a Zadoque: Volta a arca de Deus à cidade; que se eu achar favor aos olhos do SENHOR, ele me voltará, e me fará ver a ela e a seu tabernáculo:

And the king said to Zadok, Carry back the ark of God into the city: if I shall find favour in the eyes of the LORD, he will bring me again, and show me both it, and his habitation:

26 E se disser: Não me agradas: aqui estou, faça de mim o que bem lhe parecer.

But if he shall thus say, I have no delight in thee; behold, here am I, let him do to me as seemeth good to him.

27 Disse ainda o rei a Zadoque sacerdote: Não és tu vidente? Volta-te em paz à cidade; e convosco vossos dois filhos, teu filho Aimaás, e Jônatas filho de Abiatar.

The king said also to Zadok the priest, Art not thou a seer? return into the city in peace, and your two sons with you, Ahimaaz thy son, and Jonathan the son of Abiathar.

28 Olhai que eu me deterei nos campos do deserto, até que venha resposta de vós que me dê aviso.

See, I will tarry in the plain of the wilderness, until word shall come from you to inform me.

29 Então Zadoque e Abiatar trouxeram de volta a arca de Deus a Jerusalém; e estiveram ali.

Zadok therefore and Abiathar carried the ark of God again to Jerusalem: and they tarried there.

30 E Davi subiu o monte das Oliveiras; e subiu chorando, levando a cabeça coberta, e os pés descalços. Também todo aquele povo que tinha consigo cobriu cada um sua cabeça, e subiram chorando assim como subiam.

And David went up by the ascent of mount Olivet, and wept as he went, and had his head covered, and he went barefoot: and all the people that were with him covered every man his head, and they went up, weeping as they went.

31 E deram aviso a Davi, dizendo: Aitofel está entre os que conspiraram com Absalão. Então disse Davi: Torna loucura agora, ó SENHOR, o conselho de Aitofel.

And one told David, saying, Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom. And David said, O LORD, I pray thee, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.

32 E quando Davi chegou ao cume do monte para adorar ali a Deus, eis que Husai arquita que lhe saiu ao encontro, trazendo rasgada sua roupa, e terra sobre sua cabeça.

And it came to pass, that when David had come to the top of the mount, where he worshipped God, behold, Hushai the Archite came to meet him with his coat torn, and earth upon his head:

33 E disse-lhe Davi: Se passares comigo, tu me serás prejudicial;

To whom David said, If thou shalt pass on with me, then thou shalt be a burden to me:

34 Mas se voltares à cidade, e disseres a Absalão: Rei, eu serei teu servo; como até aqui fui servo de teu pai, assim serei agora servo teu, então tu me dissiparás o conselho de Aitofel.

But if thou shalt return to the city, and say to Absalom, I will be thy servant, O king; as I have been thy father’s servant to this time, so will I now also be thy servant: then mayest thou for me defeat the counsel of Ahithophel.

35 Não estarão ali contigo Zadoque e Abiatar sacerdotes? Portanto, tudo o que ouvires na casa do rei, darás aviso disso a Zadoque e a Abiatar sacerdotes.

And hast thou not there with thee Zadok and Abiathar the priests? therefore it shall be, that whatever thing thou shalt hear out of the king’s house, thou shalt tell it to Zadok and Abiathar the priests.

36 E eis que estão com eles seus dois filhos, Aimaás o de Zadoque, e Jônatas o de Abiatar; por meio deles me enviareis aviso de tudo o que ouvirdes.

Behold, they have there with them their two sons, Ahimaaz Zadok’s son, and Jonathan Abiathar’s son; and by them ye shall send to me every thing that ye can hear.

37 Assim se veio Husai amigo de Davi à cidade; e Absalão entrou em Jerusalém.

So Hushai David’s friend came into the city, and Absalom came into Jerusalem.
