2 Pedro 3
1 Amados, eu já vos escrevo esta segunda carta, em [ambas] as quais eu desperto vosso sincero entendimento por meio da relembrança;
Beloved, this is now the second letter that I am writing to you. In both of them I have tried to stir up your sincere mind by way of reminder,
2 Para que vos lembreis das palavras que anteriormente foram ditas pelos santos profetas, e do nosso mandamento, dos apóstolos do Senhor e Salvador.
so that you remember the words spoken in the past by the holy prophets and the commandment of our Lord and Savior given through your apostles.
3 Sabendo primeiro isto: que nos últimos dias virão escarnecedores, andando segundo seus próprios maus desejos,
First of all, you must understand that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts.
4 E dizendo: Onde está a promessa da vinda dele? Pois desde que os pais dormiram, todas as coisas continuam como desde o princípio da criação.
They will say, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, everything continues as it has since the beginning of creation.”
5 Porque eles ignoram isto por sua própria vontade, que pela palavra de Deus desde os [tempos] antigos [é que] foram os céus, e [que] a terra [saiu] da água, e sobre a água continua.
They deliberately overlook the fact that by the word of God the heavens came into being long ago and the earth emerged through the water and was separated from the water.
6 Pelas quais o mundo anterior foi destruído, coberto com as águas do dilúvio.
And by the water and the word, the world of that time was deluged and destroyed.
7 E os céus e a terra de agora, pela mesma palavra estão reservados, e são guardados para o fogo até o dia do juízo, e da perdição das pessoas ímpias.
Furthermore, by his word the heavens and the earth that now exist have been reserved for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and the destruction of the ungodly.
8 Mas amados, desta uma coisa não ignoreis: que um dia para o Senhor [é] como mil anos, e mil anos como um dia.
But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like one day.
9 O Senhor não é tardio [em sua] promessa (como alguns [a] consideram tardia); mas ele é paciente para conosco, não querendo que alguns pereçam, mas sim que todos venham ao arrependimento.
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness, but is patient toward us, not wishing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
10 Mas o dia do Senhor virá como um ladrão durante a noite, no qual os céus se desfarão com grande estrondo, e os elementos queimando se dissolverão, e a terra e as obras que nela [há] serão descobertas.
But the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. On that day the heavens will pass away with a roar, the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.
11 Visto, pois, que todas estas coisas estão para serem desfeitas, de que maneira vós deveis ser em santo comportamento e piedade,
Therefore, since all these things will be destroyed, what sort of people ought you to be? You ought to conduct yourselves in holiness and godliness,
12 esperando, e tendo pressa para a vinda do dia de Deus, pelo qual os céus, incendiados, se desfarão, e os elementos, inflamados, se derreterão.
waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God. On that day the heavens will be set on fire and destroyed, and the elements will melt in the intense heat.
13 Porém, segundo a sua promessa, aguardamos novos céus e nova terra, em que a justiça habita.
But, according to his promise, we wait for new heavens and a new earth, where righteousness dwells.
14 Por isso, amados, aguardando essas coisas, procurai que por ele sejais achados incontaminados e irrepreensíveis em paz;
Therefore, beloved, as you wait for these things, be diligent to be found at peace, spotless and blameless in his sight.
15 E considerai como salvação a paciência de nosso Senhor; assim como também nosso irmão Paulo vos escreveu, segundo a sabedoria que lhe foi dada;
And count the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul has written to you according to the wisdom given to him.
16 Como também em duas as [suas] cartas, ele fala nelas destas coisas; entre as quais há algumas coisas difíceis de entender, as quais os ignorantes e os inconstantes distorcem, assim como também as outras Escrituras, para a própria perdição deles.
He speaks about these things in all his letters. Some of the things he says are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people twist to their own destruction, just as they do with the other Scriptures.
17 Portanto vós, amados, sabendo [disto] com antecedência, guardai-vos para que, pelo engano dos maus, não sejais juntamente arrebatados, e caiais de vossa firmeza.
Therefore, beloved, since you have been forewarned, be on your guard so that you will not be led astray by the error of these lawless men and fall from your own secure position.
18 Mas crescei em graça e conhecimento de nosso Senhor e Salvador Jesus Cristo. A ele seja a glória, tanto agora como no dia da eternidade, Amém! (aiōn g165)
But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen. (aiōn g165)
