1 Timóteo 6
1 Todos os servos que estão sob escravidão estimem aos seus senhores como dignos de toda honra; para que o nome de Deus e a doutrina não sejam blasfemados.
Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honor, that the name of God, and his teaching, be not reviled.
2 E os que têm senhores crentes não os desprezem por serem irmãos; pelo contrário, que os sirvam melhor, pois os participantes do benefício são crentes e amados. Ensina e exorta estas coisas.
And those who have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren: but rather let them serve them, because they who partake of the benefit of their service, are believers and beloved brethren. These things enforce in your teaching and exhortation.
3 Se alguém ensina doutrina diferente, e não concorda com as sãs palavras do nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo e com a doutrina que é conforme a devoção divina,
If any one teaches other things, and does not assent to the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the teaching which is according to godliness,
4 é presunçoso, e nada sabe. Em vez disso, se interessa de maneira doentia por questões e disputas de palavras, das quais nascem invejas, brigas, blasfêmias, suspeitas maldosas,
he is mad with conceit, knowing nothing, but has a morbid fondness for questions and contentions about words, out of which come envy, strife, railing, evil suspicions,
5 conflitos constantes de pessoas corrompidas de entendimento, e privadas da verdade, que pensam que a devoção divina é um meio de lucrar.
and wranglings, on the part of men who are corrupt in mind, and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a source of gain. From such withdraw yourself.
6 Mas grande lucro é a devoção divina acompanhada de contentamento.
But godliness, with a contented disposition, is great gain.
7 Pois nada trouxemos ao mundo, e portanto nada podemos levar dele.
For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain that we can carry nothing out.
8 Mas se tivermos alimento e algo com que nos cobrirmos, estejamos contentes com isso.
And having food and raiment, with these let us be content.
9 Mas os que querem ser ricos caem em tentação, armadilha, e em muitos desejos insensatos e nocivos, que afundam as pessoas na destruição e perdição.
But those who will be rich fail into temptation and a snare, and many foolish and hurtful desires, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
10 Pois o amor ao dinheiro é raiz de todos os tipos de males. Alguns o cobiçam, e então se desviaram da fé, e perfuraram a si mesmos com muitas dores.
For the love of money is the root of all evil; through the desire of which, some have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
11 Porém tu, homem de Deus, foge dessas coisas. Segue a justiça, a devoção divina, a fé, o amor, a paciência, a mansidão.
But do you, O man of God, shun these things, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faithfulness, love, patience, meekness.
12 Que lutes a boa luta da fé; agarra a vida eterna para a qual foste chamado, e confessaste a boa confissão diante de muitas testemunhas. (aiōnios g166)
Fight the good fight of the faith; lay hold on eternal life, to which you have been called, and for which you confessed the good confession before many witnesses. (aiōnios g166)
13 Mando-te diante de Deus, que dá vida a todas as coisas, e de Cristo Jesus, que diante de Pôncio Pilatos testemunhou a boa confissão,
I charge you, in the sight of God, who makes all things alive, and before Christ Jesus, who, before Pontius Pilate, confessed a good confession,
14 que guardes este mandamento sem mancha nem motivo de repreensão, até a aparição do nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.
that you keep this commandment, so that you may be spotless and blameless till the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 Essa nos seus tempos mostrará o bendito e único Soberano, o Rei dos reis, e Senhor dos senhores;
which, in his own times, he will show, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
16 o único a ter imortalidade, e que habita em luz inacessível; aquele a quem nenhum ser humano viu, nem pode ver; a ele seja honra e poder para sempre! Amém. (aiōnios g166)
who alone has immortality, dwelling in light unapproachable, whom no man has seen, nor can see, to whom be honor and power eternal. Amen. (aiōnios g166)
17 Manda aos ricos desta era que não sejam soberbos, nem ponham a esperança na incerteza das riquezas, mas sim em Deus, que nos dá abundantemente todas as coisas [que são] para alegria; (aiōn g165)
Charge those who are rich in this age, that they be not proud, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who gives us all things richly for our enjoyment, (aiōn g165)
18 que façam o bem, sejam ricos em boas obras, dispostos a compartilhar, e generosos.
that they do good, that they be rich in good works, that they be ready to distribute, liberal,
19 que acumulem para si mesmos um bom fundamento para o futuro, para que obtenham a verdadeira vida.
treasuring up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
20 Timóteo, guarda o depósito que [te] foi confiado, evitando conversas vãs e profanas, e controvérsias do que é falsamente chamado de “conhecimento”;
O Timothy, keep that which is committed to your charge, avoiding those profane and empty babblings, and disputations about knowledge falsely so called;
21 que alguns declararam seguir, e se desviaram da fé. A graça [seja] convosco.
by making a profession of this knowledge, some have erred as it respects the faith. Grace be with you. Amen.
