1 Tessalonicenses 5
1 Mas irmãos, acerca dos tempos e das estações, não necessitais de que eu vos escreva;
Bvt of the times and seasons, brethren, yee haue no neede that I write vnto you.
2 pois vós mesmos bem sabeis que o dia do Senhor virá como um ladrão de noite.
For ye your selues knowe perfectly, that the day of the Lord shall come, euen as a thiefe in the night.
3 Quando disserem: “Paz e segurança”, então virá sobre eles repentina destruição, como as dores de parto da grávida, e de maneira nenhuma escaparão.
For when they shall say, Peace, and safetie, then shall come vpon them sudden destruction, as the trauaile vpon a woman with childe, and they shall not escape,
4 Mas vós, irmãos, não estais em trevas, para que aquele dia vos tome de surpresa como um ladrão.
But ye, brethren, are not in darkenes, that that day shall come on you, as it were a thiefe.
5 Todos vós sois filhos da luz e filhos do dia; não somos da noite nem das trevas.
Yee are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, neither of darkenesse.
6 Portanto, não durmamos, como os outros; em vez disso, vigiemos e sejamos sóbrios.
Therefore let vs not sleepe as do other, but let vs watch and be sober.
7 Pois os que dormem, dormem de noite; e os que ficam bêbados embebedam-se de noite.
For they that sleepe, sleepe in the night, and they that be drunken, are drunken in the night.
8 Mas nós, que somos do dia, sejamos sóbrios, e nos vistamos da couraça da fé e do amor, e do capacete da esperança da salvação.
But let vs which are of the day, be sober, putting on the brest plate of faith and loue, and of the hope of saluation for an helmet.
9 Porque Deus não nos destinou para a ira, mas, sim, para obtermos a salvação, por meio do nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo,
For God hath not appointed vs vnto wrath, but to obtaine saluation by the meanes of our Lord Iesus Christ,
10 que morreu por nós, a fim de que, se estivermos vigiando ou dormindo, nós vivamos juntamente com ele.
Which died for vs, that whether we wake or sleepe, we should liue together with him.
11 Portanto exortai-vos uns aos outros, e edificai-vos uns aos outros, como já fazeis.
Wherefore exhort one another, and edifie one another, euen as ye doe.
12 Irmãos, nós vos rogamos que reconheçais os que trabalham entre vós, e que lideram sobre vós no Senhor, e vos advertem;
Nowe we beseeche you, brethren, that ye acknowledge them, which labour among you, and are ouer you in the Lord, and admonish you,
13 e os estimai muito com amor, por causa do trabalho deles. Tende paz entre vós.
That yee haue them in singular loue for their workes sake. Bee at peace among your selues.
14 Rogamo-vos também, irmãos, que advirtais os desordeiros, consoleis os de pouco ânimo, apoieis aos fracos, e tenhais paciência com todos.
We desire you, brethren, admonish them that are out of order: comfort ye feeble minded: beare with the weake: be pacient toward all men.
15 Tende cuidado para que ninguém retribua o mal com o mal, mas sempre segui o bem, tanto uns com os outros, como com todos.
See that none recompense euil for euil vnto any man: but euer follow that which is good, both toward your selues, and toward all men.
16 Alegrai-vos sempre.
Reioyce euermore.
17 Orai sem cessar.
Pray continually.
18 Agradecei em tudo, pois essa é a vontade de Deus em Cristo Jesus para vós mesmos.
In all thinges giue thankes: for this is the will of God in Christ Iesus toward you.
19 Não apagueis o Espírito.
Quench not the Spirit.
20 Não desprezeis as profecias.
Despise not prophecying.
21 Examinai tudo, e mantende o que é bom.
Try all things, and keepe that which is good.
22 Não haja entre vós qualquer forma de mal.
Absteine from all appearance of euill.
23 E o próprio Deus da paz vos santifique em tudo; e que todo o vosso espírito, alma e corpo sejam preservados irrepreensíveis na vinda do nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.
Nowe the very God of peace sanctifie you throughout: and I pray God that your whole spirite and soule and body, may be kept blamelesse vnto the comming of our Lord Iesus Christ.
24 Fiel é aquele que vos chama, e ele também [o] fará.
Faithfull is hee which calleth you, which will also doe it.
25 Irmãos, orai por nós.
Brethren, pray for vs.
26 Saudai a todos os irmãos com beijo santo.
Greete all the brethren with an holy kisse.
27 Eu vos mando pelo Senhor que esta carta seja lida a todos os irmãos.
I charge you in the Lord, that this Epistle be read vnto all the brethren the Saintes.
28 A graça de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo [seja] convosco.
The grace of our Lord Iesus Christ be with you, Amen. ‘The first Epistle vnto the Thessalonians written from Athens.’
