1 Tessalonicenses 1

1 Paulo, Silvano, e Timóteo, à igreja dos tessalonicenses, em Deus Pai, e no Senhor Jesus Cristo; haja convosco a graça e a paz.

Paul, Silvanus and Timothy, to the congregation of Thessalonians in God the Father and Sovereign Jesus Christ: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and Sovereign Jesus Christ.

2 Sempre damos graças a Deus por todos vós, fazendo menção [de vós] em nossas orações.

We always give thanks to God for all of you, making mention of you in our prayers,

3 E, diante do nosso Deus e Pai, nós nos lembramos sem cessar da obra da vossa fé, do trabalho do amor, e da firmeza da esperança no nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.

continually remembering before our God and Father your work for the Faith and your labor coming from the Love and your perseverance based on the Hope, our Lord Jesus Christ being their source,

4 Sabemos, irmãos amados por Deus, que [por ele] fostes escolhidos,

knowing as we do, brothers loved by God, that you are chosen.

5 pois o nosso evangelho não foi até vós somente com palavras, mas também com poder, com o Espírito Santo, e com plena certeza; assim como sabeis de que maneira estivemos entre vós para o vosso benefício.

You see, our Gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with complete certainty (of course you know what sort of men we proved to be among you for your sake).

6 E vos tornastes imitadores nossos e do Senhor. [Mesmo] em meio a muita aflição, recebestes a palavra com a alegria do Espírito Santo.

Yes you became imitators of us and of the Lord, having received the Word with the Holy Spirit's joy, in spite of severe affliction,

7 Dessa maneira vos tornastes referência a todos os crentes na Macedônia e Acaia.

so that you became examples to all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia.

8 Pois de vós ressoou a palavra do Senhor, não somente na Macedônia e Acaia, mas a vossa fé em Deus se espalhou em todo lugar, de tal maneira que não precisamos falar coisa alguma.

That is because the Word of the Lord sounded out from you, not only in Macedonia and Achaia but also in every place—your faith toward God has gone forth, so that we do not need to say anything.

9 Pois eles mesmos anunciam como fomos recebidos por vós, e como vos convertestes, deixando os ídolos, para servir ao Deus vivo e verdadeiro;

They themselves report about you what kind of entrance we had to you, and how you turned to God from idols to be slaves to the living and true God,

10 e para esperar dos céus o seu Filho, a quem ele ressuscitou dos mortos: Jesus, que nos livra da ira futura.

and to wait for His Son coming out of the heavens (whom He raised from among the dead)—Jesus, who preserves us from the coming wrath.
