1 Samuel 20
1 E Davi fugiu de Naiote que é em Ramá, e veio diante de Jônatas, e disse: Que fiz eu? qual é minha maldade, ou qual meu pecado contra teu pai, que ele busca minha vida?
And David fled from Naioth in Ramah, and came and said before Jonathan, What have I done? what is my iniquity? and what is my sin before your father, that he seeks my life?
2 E ele lhe disse: Em nenhuma maneira; não morrerás. Eis que meu pai nenhuma coisa fará, grande nem pequena, que não a revele a mim; por que pois me encobrirá meu pai este negócio? Não será assim.
And he said to him, God forbid; you shall not die: behold, my father will do nothing either great or small, but that he will show it me: and why should my father hide this thing from me? it is not so.
3 E Davi voltou a jurar, dizendo: Teu pai sabe claramente que eu achei favor diante de teus olhos, e dirá: Não saiba isto Jônatas, para que não tenha pesar: e certamente, vive o SENHOR e vive tua alma, que apenas há um passo entre mim e a morte.
And David swore moreover, and said, Your father certainly knows that I have found grace in your eyes; and he says, Let not Jonathan know this, lest he be grieved: but truly as the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, there is but a step between me and death.
4 E Jônatas disse a Davi: Que diga tua alma, e eu o farei por ti?
Then said Jonathan to David, Whatever your soul desires, I will even do it for you.
5 E Davi respondeu a Jônatas: Eis que amanhã será nova lua, e eu costumo sentar-me com o rei a comer: mas tu deixarás que me esconda no campo até à tarde do terceiro dia.
And David said to Jonathan, Behold, to morrow is the new moon, and I should not fail to sit with the king at meat: but let me go, that I may hide myself in the field to the third day at even.
6 Se teu pai fizer menção de mim, dirás: Rogo-me muito que o deixasse ir logo a Belém sua cidade, porque todos os de sua linhagem têm ali sacrifício anual.
If your father at all miss me, then say, David earnestly asked leave of me that he might run to Bethlehem his city: for there is a yearly sacrifice there for all the family.
7 Se ele disser, Está bem, teu servo terá paz; mas se se irar, sabe que a malícia está nele completa.
If he say thus, It is well; your servant shall have peace: but if he be very wroth, then be sure that evil is determined by him.
8 Farás, pois, misericórdia com teu servo, já que trouxeste teu servo a aliança do SENHOR contigo: e se maldade há em mim mata-me tu, que não há necessidade de levar-me até teu pai.
Therefore you shall deal kindly with your servant; for you have brought your servant into a covenant of the LORD with you: notwithstanding, if there be in me iniquity, slay me yourself; for why should you bring me to your father?
9 E Jônatas lhe disse: Nunca tal te suceda; antes bem, se eu entendesse ser completa a malícia de meu pai, para vir sobre ti, não havia eu de revelá-lo a ti?
And Jonathan said, Far be it from you: for if I knew certainly that evil were determined by my father to come on you, then would not I tell it you?
10 Disse então Davi a Jônatas: Quem me dará aviso? Ou que se teu pai te responder asperamente?
Then said David to Jonathan, Who shall tell me? or what if your father answer you roughly?
11 E Jônatas disse a Davi: Vem, saiamos ao campo. E saíram ambos ao campo.
And Jonathan said to David, Come, and let us go out into the field. And they went out both of them into the field.
12 Então disse Jônatas a Davi: Ó SENHOR Deus de Israel, quando houver eu perguntado a meu pai amanhã a esta hora, ou depois de amanhã, e ele parecer bem para com Davi, se então não enviar a ti, e o revelar a ti,
And Jonathan said to David, O LORD God of Israel, when I have sounded my father about to morrow any time, or the third day, and, behold, if there be good toward David, and I then send not to you, and show it you;
13 O SENHOR faça assim a Jônatas, e isto acrescente. Mas se a meu pai parecer bem fazer-te mal, também te o revelarei, e te enviarei, e te irás em paz: e seja o SENHOR contigo, como foi com meu pai.
The LORD do so and much more to Jonathan: but if it please my father to do you evil, then I will show it you, and send you away, that you may go in peace: and the LORD be with you, as he has been with my father.
14 E se eu viver, farás comigo misericórdia do SENHOR; mas se for morto,
And you shall not only while yet I live show me the kindness of the LORD, that I die not:
15 Não tirarás perpetuamente tua misericórdia de minha casa, nem quando o SENHOR exterminar um por um os inimigos de Davi da face da terra.
But also you shall not cut off your kindness from my house for ever: no, not when the LORD has cut off the enemies of David every one from the face of the earth.
16 Assim Jônatas fez aliança com a casa de Davi, dizendo: O SENHOR o exija da mão dos inimigos de Davi.
So Jonathan made a covenant with the house of David, saying, Let the LORD even require it at the hand of David’s enemies.
17 E voltou Jônatas a jurar a Davi, porque o amava, porque o amava como à sua alma.
And Jonathan caused David to swear again, because he loved him: for he loved him as he loved his own soul.
18 Disse-lhe logo Jônatas: Amanhã é lua nova, e tua falta será percebida, porque teu assento estará vazio.
Then Jonathan said to David, To morrow is the new moon: and you shall be missed, because your seat will be empty.
19 Estarás, pois, três dias, e logo descerás, e virás ao lugar de onde estavas escondido o dia do incidente, e esperarás junto à pedra de Ezel;
And when you have stayed three days, then you shall go down quickly, and come to the place where you did hide yourself when the business was in hand, and shall remain by the stone Ezel.
20 E eu atirarei três flechas até aquele lado, como que me exercitando ao alvo.
And I will shoot three arrows on the side thereof, as though I shot at a mark.
21 E logo enviarei o criado dizendo-lhe: Vai, busca as flechas. E se disser ao jovem: Eis ali as flechas mais aqui de ti, toma-as: tu virás, porque tens paz, e nada há de mal, vive o SENHOR.
And, behold, I will send a lad, saying, Go, find out the arrows. If I expressly say to the lad, Behold, the arrows are on this side of you, take them; then come you: for there is peace to you, and no hurt; as the LORD lives.
22 Mas se eu disser ao jovem assim: Eis ali as flechas mais ali de ti: vai-te, porque o SENHOR te enviou.
But if I say thus to the young man, Behold, the arrows are beyond you; go your way: for the LORD has sent you away.
23 E quanto às palavras que eu e tu falamos, seja o SENHOR entre mim e ti para sempre.
And as touching the matter which you and I have spoken of, behold, the LORD be between you and me for ever.
24 Então Davi se escondeu no campo, e vinda que foi a lua nova, sentou-se o rei a comer pão.
So David hid himself in the field: and when the new moon was come, the king sat him down to eat meat.
25 E o rei se sentou em sua cadeira, como costumava, no assento junto à parede, e Jônatas se levantou, e sentou-se Abner ao lado de Saul, e o lugar de Davi estava vazio.
And the king sat on his seat, as at other times, even on a seat by the wall: and Jonathan arose, and Abner sat by Saul’s side, and David’s place was empty.
26 Mas aquele dia Saul não disse nada, porque se dizia: Haverá lhe acontecido algo, e não está limpo; não estará purificado.
Nevertheless Saul spoke not any thing that day: for he thought, Something has befallen him, he is not clean; surely he is not clean.
27 O dia seguinte, o segundo dia da lua nova, aconteceu também que o assento de Davi estava vazio. E Saul disse a Jônatas seu filho: Por que não veio a comer o filho de Jessé hoje nem ontem?
And it came to pass on the morrow, which was the second day of the month, that David’s place was empty: and Saul said to Jonathan his son, Why comes not the son of Jesse to meat, neither yesterday, nor to day?
28 E Jônatas respondeu a Saul: Davi me pediu encarecidamente lhe deixasse ir até Belém.
And Jonathan answered Saul, David earnestly asked leave of me to go to Bethlehem:
29 E disse: Rogo-te que me deixes ir, porque temos sacrifício os de nossa linhagem na cidade, e meu irmão mesmo me mandou; portanto, se achei graça em teus olhos, farei uma escapada agora, e visitarei a meus irmãos. Por isto, pois, não veio.
And he said, Let me go, I pray you; for our family has a sacrifice in the city; and my brother, he has commanded me to be there: and now, if I have found favor in your eyes, let me get away, I pray you, and see my brothers. Therefore he comes not to the king’s table.
30 Então Saul se acendeu contra Jônatas, e disse-lhe: Filho da pervertida e rebelde! Não sei eu que tu escolheste ao filho de Jessé para vergonha tua, e para vergonha da nudez de tua mãe?
Then Saul’s anger was kindled against Jonathan, and he said to him, You son of the perverse rebellious woman, do not I know that you have chosen the son of Jesse to your own confusion, and to the confusion of your mother’s nakedness?
31 Porque todo o tempo que o filho de Jessé viver sobre a terra, nem tu serás firme, nem teu reino. Envia, pois, agora, e traze-o a mim, porque morrerá.
For as long as the son of Jesse lives on the ground, you shall not be established, nor your kingdom. Why now send and fetch him to me, for he shall surely die.
32 E Jônatas respondeu a seu pai Saul, e disse-lhe: Por que morrerá? O que ele fez?
And Jonathan answered Saul his father, and said to him, Why shall he be slain? what has he done?
33 Então Saul lhe lançou uma lança para feri-lo: de onde entendeu Jônatas que seu pai estava determinado a matar a Davi.
And Saul cast a javelin at him to smite him: whereby Jonathan knew that it was determined of his father to slay David.
34 E levantou-se Jônatas da mesa com exaltada ira, e não comeu pão o segundo dia da lua nova: porque tinha dor por causa de Davi, porque seu pai lhe havia afrontado.
So Jonathan arose from the table in fierce anger, and did eat no meat the second day of the month: for he was grieved for David, because his father had done him shame.
35 Ao outro dia de manhã, saiu Jônatas ao campo, ao tempo marcado com Davi, e um jovem pequeno com ele.
And it came to pass in the morning, that Jonathan went out into the field at the time appointed with David, and a little lad with him.
36 E disse a seu jovem: Corre e busca as flechas que eu atirar. E quando o jovem ia correndo, ele atirava a flecha que passava mais além dele.
And he said to his lad, Run, find out now the arrows which I shoot. And as the lad ran, he shot an arrow beyond him.
37 E chegando o jovem onde estava a flecha que Jônatas havia atirado, Jônatas deu vozes atrás o jovem, dizendo: Não está a flecha mais além de ti?
And when the lad was come to the place of the arrow which Jonathan had shot, Jonathan cried after the lad, and said, Is not the arrow beyond you?
38 E voltou a gritar Jônatas atrás o jovem: Apressa-te, corre, não pares. E o jovem de Jônatas agarrou as flechas, e veio a seu senhor.
And Jonathan cried after the lad, Make speed, haste, stay not. And Jonathan’s lad gathered up the arrows, and came to his master.
39 Porém nenhuma coisa entendeu o jovem: somente Jônatas e Davi entendiam o negócio.
But the lad knew not any thing: only Jonathan and David knew the matter.
40 Logo deu Jônatas suas armas a seu jovem, e disse-lhe: Vai-te e leva-as à cidade.
And Jonathan gave his artillery to his lad, and said to him, Go, carry them to the city.
41 E logo que o jovem se havia ido, se levantou Davi da parte do sul, e inclinou-se três vezes prostrando-se até a terra: e beijando-se o um ao outro, choraram o um com o outro, ainda que Davi chorou mais.
And as soon as the lad was gone, David arose out of a place toward the south, and fell on his face to the ground, and bowed himself three times: and they kissed one another, and wept one with another, until David exceeded.
42 E Jônatas disse a Davi: Vai-te em paz, que ambos juramos pelo nome do SENHOR, dizendo: o SENHOR seja entre mim e ti, entre minha descendência e a tua descendência para sempre.
And Jonathan said to David, Go in peace, for as much as we have sworn both of us in the name of the LORD, saying, The LORD be between me and you, and between my seed and your seed for ever. And he arose and departed: and Jonathan went into the city.
