1 Pedro 3
1 Semelhantemente vós, esposas, estejais sujeitas aos próprios maridos, para que, ainda que alguns não obedeçam à Palavra, por meio do comportamento das esposas, sem palavra, sejam ganhos,
Likewise, ye wives, be submissive to your own husbands; in order that, if any do not believe the word, they shall be gained through the deportment of their wives, without the word;
2 quando eles observarem o vosso comportamento puro e com temor.
beholding your chaste deportment which is with reverence:
3 A vossa beleza não seja a exterior, [como] tranças de cabelos, joias de ouro, ou vestuário,
whose beauty, let it not be the external beauty of braiding the hairs, and wearing golds, or putting on of outer garments;
4 mas sim, a pessoa interior no coração, o [embelezamento] incorruptível de um espírito manso e tranquilo, que é precioso diante de Deus.
but let their beauty be the hidden man of the heart, in the purity of the meek and quiet spirit, which in the sight of God is perfection complete.
5 Pois assim também se embelezavam antigamente as mulheres santas, que esperavam em Deus, e eram sujeitas aos seus maridos.
For in this way in olden times the holy wives, the ones having hope toward God, were indeed accustomed to beautify themselves, submissive to their own husbands:
6 Dessa maneira Sara obedecia a Abraão, chamando-lhe de senhor. Vós sois filhas dela se fizerdes o bem e não temerdes espanto algum.
as Sarah submitted to Abraham, calling him Lord: whose children you have become, doing good, and not fearing any calamity.
7 Semelhantemente vós maridos, convivei [com elas] com entendimento, dando honra à mulher, como a vaso mais fraco, como sendo [elas e vós] juntamente herdeiros da graça da vida; a fim de que as vossas orações não sejam impedidas.
Likewise, ye husbands, dwelling with the wife according to knowledge, as the weaker vessel, extending to them honor, as indeed the equal heirs of the grace of life; that your prayers should not be hindered.
8 E por fim, sede todos de uma mesma mentalidade, compassivos, tenhais amor pelos irmãos, e sede misericordiosos e benevolentes.
And finally, all being like-minded, sympathetic, loving the brethren, merciful, humble:
9 Não retribuais o mal com mal, ou insulto com insulto; ao contrário, bendizei, pois para isto fostes chamados, para que herdeis a bênção.
not giving evil for evil, or railing for railing: but on the contrary blessing; because unto this you have been called, that you may inherit the blessing.
10 Pois: quem quer amar a vida e ver dias bons, refreie sua língua do mal, e que seus lábios não falem engano.
For let the one wishing to love life, and to see good days, cease his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking guile:
11 Afaste-se do mal, e faça o bem; busque a paz, e siga-a.
let him depart from evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and pursue it:
12 Porque os olhos do Senhor estão sobre os justos, e seus ouvidos [atentos] às suas orações; mas a face do Senhor é contra os que fazem o mal.
because the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open to their cry: but the face of the Lord is against those doing evil.
13 E quem vos fará mal se fordes zelosos do bem?
Who is the one about to harm you, if you may be zealots of the good?
14 Porém, mesmo se sofrerdes por causa da justiça, benditos sois. Não tenhais medo deles, nem vos perturbeis.
But if indeed you suffer for righteousness' sake, you are happy. Fear not their fear, neither be troubled;
15 Mas santificai a Cristo como Senhor em vossos corações; e estai sempre preparados para responder com mansidão e respeito a todo aquele que vos pedir a razão da esperança que há em vós,
but sanctify the Lord Christ in your hearts: being always ready for an answer to every one asking you a reason for the hope which is in you, but with meekness and fear:
16 tendo uma boa consciência; para que, naquilo que sois malfalados, os que insultam o vosso bom comportamento em Cristo sejam envergonhados.
having a good conscience, in order that, in whatsoever you are calumniated, those traducing your good deportment in Christ may be ashamed.
17 Pois é melhor que sofrais fazendo o bem, se [assim] a vontade de Deus quer, do que fazendo o mal.
For it is better, doing good, if the will of the Lord should will it, to suffer, rather than doing evil.
18 Porque também Cristo morreu uma vez pelos pecados, o justo pelos injustos; para que vos levasse a Deus. [Ele estava], de fato, morto na carne, mas vivificado pelo Espírito,
Because Christ indeed once died for our sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, indeed being put to death in the flesh, but quickened in spirit:
19 no qual ele também foi pregar aos espíritos em prisão.
by which also having gone he proclaimed to the spirits in prison;
20 [Estes são] os que antigamente foram rebeldes, quando a paciência de Deus aguardava nos dias de Noé, enquanto era preparada a arca. Nela, poucas almas (isto é, oito) foram salvas por meio da água.
who at one time were disobedient, when the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, the ark being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls were saved through the water.
21 Esta é uma representação do batismo, que agora também vos salva, não como remoção da sujeira do corpo, mas sim como o pedido de boa consciência a Deus, por meio da ressurreição de Jesus Cristo.
Which antitype baptism does even now save you, not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the seeking after a good conscience toward God, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
22 Ele está à direita de Deus, depois de haver subido ao céu; e os anjos, as autoridades, e os poderes estão sob o seu comando.
who is on the right hand of God, having gone up into heaven; angels and authorities and powers being subordinated unto him.
