1 Hirão, rei de Tiro, enviou seus servos a Salomão, quando ouviu que tinham ungido por rei em lugar de seu pai; porque Hirão sempre havia amado a Davi.
And Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants to Solomon; for he had heard that they had anointed him king in the room of his father: for Hiram was ever a lover of David.
2 Então Salomão enviou a dizer a Hirão:
And Solomon sent to Hiram, saying,
3 Tu sabes como meu pai Davi não pôde edificar uma casa ao nome do SENHOR, seu Deus, por causa das guerras que o cercaram, até que o SENHOR pôs os seus inimigos debaixo das plantas de seus pés.
Thou knowest how that David my father could not build a house to the name of the LORD his God, for the wars which were about him on every side, until the LORD put them under the soles of his feet.
4 Porém agora o SENHOR, meu Deus, me deu repouso por todos os lados; nem há adversários, nem encontro mal algum.
But now the LORD my God hath given me rest on every side, [so that there is] neither adversary nor evil occurrent.
5 Eu, portanto, decidi edificar uma casa ao nome do SENHOR, meu Deus, como o SENHOR o falou ao meu pai Davi, dizendo: Teu filho, que eu porei em teu lugar no teu trono, ele edificará uma casa ao meu nome.
And behold, I purpose to build a house to the name of the LORD my God, as the LORD spoke to David my father, saying, Thy son, whom I will set upon thy throne in thy room, he shall build a house to my name.
6 Manda, pois, agora, que me cortem cedros do Líbano; e meus servos estarão com os teus servos, e eu te darei o salário dos teus servos conforme a tudo o que disseres; porque tu sabes que ninguém há entre nós que saiba cortar a madeira como os sidônios.
Now therefore command thou, that they hew me cedar trees out of Lebanon; and my servants shall be with thy servants: and to thee will I give hire for thy servants according to all that thou shalt appoint: for thou knowest that [there is] not among us any that is skilled in hewing timber like the Sidonians.
7 E quando Hirão ouviu as palavras de Salomão, alegrou-se em grande maneira, e disse: Bendito seja hoje o SENHOR, que deu filho sábio a Davi sobre este povo tão grande.
And it came to pass, when Hiram heard the words of Solomon, that he rejoiced greatly, and said, Blessed [be] the LORD this day, who hath given to David a wise son over this great people.
8 E enviou Hirão a dizer a Salomão: Ouvi o que me mandaste a dizer: eu farei tudo o que te satisfizer acerca da madeira de cedro, e a madeira de faia.
And Hiram sent to Solomon, saying, I have considered the things which thou sentest to me for: [and] I will perform all thy desire concerning timber of cedar, and concerning timber of fir.
9 Meus servos a levarão desde o Líbano à mar; e eu a porei em balsas pelo mar até o lugar que tu me assinalares, e ali se desatará, e tu a tomarás: e tu farás minha vontade em dar de comer à minha família.
My servants shall bring [them] down from Lebanon to the sea: and I will convey them by sea in floats to the place that thou shalt appoint me, and will cause them to be discharged there, and thou shalt receive [them]: and thou shalt accomplish my desire, in giving food for my household.
10 Deu, pois, Hirão a Salomão madeira de cedro e madeira de faia tudo o que quis.
So Hiram gave Solomon cedar trees and fir trees [according to] all his desire.
11 E Salomão dava a Hirão vinte mil coros de trigo para o sustento de sua família, e vinte coros de azeite puro; isto dava Salomão a Hirão cada um ano.
And Solomon gave Hiram twenty thousand measures of wheat [for] food to his household, and twenty measures of pure oil: thus gave Solomon to Hiram year by year.
12 Deu, pois, o SENHOR a Salomão sabedoria como lhe havia dito: e havia paz entre Hirão e Salomão, e fizeram aliança entre ambos.
And the LORD gave Solomon wisdom, as he promised him: and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon; and they two made a league together.
13 E o rei Salomão impôs tributo a todo Israel, e o tributo foi de trinta mil homens:
And king Solomon raised a levy out of all Israel; and the levy was thirty thousand men.
14 Os quais enviava ao Líbano de dez mil em dez mil, cada mês por seu turno, vindo assim a estar um mês no Líbano, e dois meses em suas casas: e Adonirão estava sobre aquele tributo.
And he sent them to Lebanon ten thousand a month by courses; a month they were in Lebanon, [and] two months at home. And Adoniram [was] over the levy.
15 Tinha também Salomão setenta mil que levavam as cargas, e oitenta mil cortadores no monte;
And Solomon had seventy thousand that bore burdens, and eighty thousand hewers in the mountains;
16 Sem os principais oficiais de Salomão que estavam sobre a obra, três mil e trezentos, os quais tinham cargo do povo que fazia a obra.
Besides the chief of Solomon's officers who [were] over the work, three thousand and three hundred, who ruled over the people that wrought in the work.
17 E mandou o rei que trouxessem grandes pedras, pedras de grande valor, para os alicerces da casa, e pedras lavradas.
And the king commanded, and they brought great stones, costly stones, [and] hewed stones, to lay the foundation of the house.
18 E os pedreiros de Salomão e os de Hirão, e os preparadores, cortaram e prepararam a madeira e pedras para lavrar a casa.
And Solomon's builders, and Hiram's builders did hew [them], and the stone-squarers: so they prepared timber and stones to build the house.
