1 E achegaram-se os dias de Davi para morrer, e mandou a Salomão seu filho, dizendo:

Then the dayes of Dauid drewe neere that he should die, and hee charged Salomon his sonne, saying,

2 Eu vou pelo caminho de toda a terra: esforça-te, e sê homem.

I go the way of all the earth: be strong therefore, and shew thy selfe a man,

3 Guarda a ordenança do SENHOR teu Deus, andando em seus caminhos, e observando seus estatutos e mandamentos, e seus direitos e seus testemunhos, da maneira que está escrito na lei de Moisés, para que sejas bem-sucedido em tudo o que fizeres, e em tudo aquilo a que te voltares.

And take heede to the charge of the Lord thy God, to walke in his wayes, and keepe his statutes, and his commandements, and his iudgements, and his testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and in euery thing whereunto thou turnest thee,

4 Para que confirme o SENHOR a palavra que me falou, dizendo: Se teus filhos guardarem seu caminho, andando diante de mim com verdade, de todo seu coração, e de toda sua alma, jamais, disse, faltará a ti homem do trono de Israel.

That the Lord may confirme his worde which hee spake vnto me, saying, If thy sonnes take heede to their way, that they walke before me in trueth, with all their hearts, and with all their soules, thou shalt not (sayd he) want one of thy posteritie vpon the throne of Israel.

5 E já sabes tu o que me fez Joabe filho de Zeruia, o que fez a dois generais do exército de Israel, a Abner filho de Ner, e a Amasa filho de Jéter, os quais ele matou, derramando em paz o sangue de guerra, e pondo o sangue de guerra em seu cinto que tinha em sua cintura, e nos sapatos que tinha em seus pés.

Thou knowest also what Ioab the sonne of Zeruiah did to me, and what he did to the two captaines of the hostes of Israel, vnto Abner the sonne of Ner, and vnto Amasa the sonne of Iether: whome he slewe, and shed blood of battell in peace, and put the blood of warre vpon his girdle that was about his loynes, and in his shooes that were on his feete.

6 Tu, pois, farás conforme a tua sabedoria; não o deixarás descer ao Xeol na velhice em paz. (Sheol h7585)

Doe therefore according to thy wisdome, and let thou not his hoare head go downe to the graue in peace. (Sheol h7585)

7 Mas aos filhos de Barzilai gileadita farás misericórdia, que sejam dos convidados a tua mesa; porque eles vieram assim a mim, quando ia fugindo de Absalão teu irmão.

But shew kindnes vnto the sonnes of Barzillai the Gileadite, and let them be among them that eate at thy table: for so they came to me when I fled from Absalom thy brother.

8 Também tens contigo Simei, filho de Gera, filho de Benjamim, de Baurim, o qual me amaldiçoou com uma severa maldição no dia em que eu ia a Maanaim. Mas ele mesmo desceu para me receber junto ao Jordão, e eu lhe jurei pelo SENHOR, dizendo: Eu não te matarei à espada

And beholde, with thee is Shimei the sonne of Gera, the sonne of Iemini, of Bahurim, which cursed mee with an horrible curse in the day when I went to Mahanaim: but hee came downe to meete me at Iorden, and I sware to him by the Lord, saying, I will not slay thee with the sword.

9 Porém agora não o absolverás; porque és homem sábio, e sabes como agirás para com ele; e farás seus cabelos grisalhos descerem com sangue ao Xeol. (Sheol h7585)

But thou shalt not count him innocent: for thou art a wise man, and knowest what thou oughtest to doe vnto him: therefore thou shalt cause his hoare head to goe downe to the graue with blood. (Sheol h7585)

10 E Davi descansou com seus pais, e foi sepultado na cidade de Davi.

So Dauid slept with his fathers, and was buried in the citie of Dauid.

11 Os dias que reinou Davi sobre Israel foram quarenta anos: sete anos reinou em Hebrom, e trinta e três anos reinou em Jerusalém.

And the dayes which Dauid reigned vpon Israel, were fourtie yeeres: seuen yeeres reigned he in Hebron, and thirtie and three yeeres reigned he in Ierusalem.

12 E se sentou Salomão no trono de Davi seu pai, e foi seu reino firme em grande maneira.

Then sate Salomon vpon the throne of Dauid his father, and his kingdome was stablished mightily.

13 Então Adonias filho de Hagite veio a Bate-Seba mãe de Salomão; e ela disse: É tua vinda de paz? E ele respondeu: Sim, de paz.

And Adonijah the sonne of Haggith came to Bath-sheba the mother of Salomon: and she saide, Commest thou peaceably? And hee said, Yea.

14 Em seguida disse: Uma palavra tenho que te dizer. E ela disse: Dize.

He said moreouer, I haue a sute vnto thee. And she sayd, Say on.

15 E ele disse: Tu sabes que o reino era meu, e que todo Israel havia posto em mim seu rosto, para que eu reinasse: mas o reino foi traspassado, e veio a meu irmão; porque pelo SENHOR era seu.

Then he said, Thou knowest that the kingdome was mine, and that all Israel set their faces on me, that I should reigne: howbeit the kingdome is turned away, and is my brothers: for it came to him by the Lord.

16 E agora eu te faço uma petição: não a negues a mim. E ela lhe disse: Fala.

Nowe therefore I aske thee one request, refuse me not. And she said vnto him, Say on.

17 Ele então disse: Eu te rogo que fales ao rei Salomão (porque ele não negará a ti), para que me dê a Abisague, a sunamita, por mulher.

And he sayd, Speake, I pray thee, vnto Salomon ye King, (for he will not say thee nay) that he giue me Abishag the Shunammite to wife.

18 E Bate-Seba disse: Está bem; eu falarei por ti ao rei.

And Bath-sheba sayd, Well, I will speake for thee vnto the King.

19 E veio Bate-Seba ao rei Salomão para falar-lhe por Adonias. E o rei se levantou a recebê-la, e inclinou-se a ela, e voltou a sentar-se em seu trono, e fez pôr uma cadeira à mãe do rei, a qual se sentou à sua direita.

Bath-sheba therefore went vnto King Salomon, to speake vnto him for Adonijah: and the King rose to meete her, and bowed himselfe vnto her, and sate downe on his throne: and he caused a seate to be set for the Kings mother, and she sate at his right hand.

20 E ela disse: Uma pequena petição pretendo de ti; não me negues. E o rei lhe disse: Pede, minha mãe, que eu não te negarei.

Then she sayd, I desire a small request of thee, say me not nay. Then the King sayde vnto her, Aske on, my mother: for I will not say thee nay.

21 E ela disse: Dê-se Abisague, a sunamita, por mulher a teu irmão Adonias.

She sayd then, Let Abishag the Shunammite be giuen to Adonijah thy brother to wife.

22 E o rei Salomão respondeu, e disse a sua mãe: Por que pedes a Abisague sunamita para Adonias? Pede também para ele o reino, porque ele é meu irmão maior; e tem também a Abiatar sacerdote, e a Joabe filho de Zeruia.

But King Salomon answered and sayd vnto his mother, And why doest thou aske Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? aske for him the kingdome also: for he is mine elder brother, and hath for him both Abiathar the Priest, and Ioab the sonne of Zeruiah.

23 E o rei Salomão jurou pelo SENHOR, dizendo: Assim me faça Deus e assim me acrescente, que contra sua vida falou Adonias esta palavra.

Then King Salomon sware by the Lord, saying, God doe so to me and more also, if Adoniiah hath not spoken this worde against his owne life.

24 Agora, pois, vive o SENHOR, que me confirmou e me pôs sobre o trono de Davi meu pai, e que me fez casa, como me havia dito, que Adonias morrerá hoje.

Now therefore as ye Lord liueth, who hath established me, and set me on the throne of Dauid my father, who also hath made me an house, as he promised, Adoniiah shall surely die this day.

25 Então o rei Salomão enviou por meio de Benaia filho de Joiada, o qual o golpeou de maneira que ele morreu.

And King Salomon sent by the hand of Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada, and hee smote him that he dyed.

26 E a Abiatar sacerdote disse o rei: Vai-te a Anatote a tuas propriedades, que tu és digno de morte; mas não te matarei hoje, porquanto levaste a arca do Senhor DEUS diante de Davi meu pai, e, além disso, foste aflito em todas as coisas em que meu pai foi aflito.

Then the King sayd vnto Abiathar the Priest, Go to Anathoth vnto thine owne fieldes: for thou art worthy of death: but I will not this day kill thee, because thou barest the Arke of the Lord God before Dauid my father, and because thou hast suffered in all, wherein my father hath bene afflicted.

27 Assim expulsou Salomão a Abiatar do sacerdócio do SENHOR, para que se cumprisse a palavra do SENHOR que havia dito sobre a casa de Eli em Siló.

So Salomon cast out Abiathar from being Priest vnto the Lord, that he might fulfill the wordes of the Lord, which he spake against the house of Eli in Shiloh.

28 E veio a notícia até Joabe: porque também Joabe se havia aderido a Adonias, se bem não se havia aderido a Absalão. E fugiu Joabe ao tabernáculo do SENHOR, e agarrou-se às pontas do altar.

Then tidings came to Ioab: (for Ioab had turned after Adoniiah, but he turned not after Absalom) and Ioab fled vnto the Tabernacle of the Lord, and caught hold on the hornes of the altar.

29 E foi feito saber a Salomão que Joabe havia fugido ao tabernáculo do SENHOR, e que estava junto ao altar. Então enviou Salomão a Benaia filho de Joiada, dizendo: Vai, e golpeia-o.

And it was tolde king Salomon, that Ioab was fled vnto the Tabernacle of the Lord, and beholde, he is by the altar. Then Salomon sent Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada, saying, Goe, fall vpon him.

30 E entrou Benaia ao tabernáculo do SENHOR, e disse-lhe: O rei disse que saias. E ele disse: Não, mas sim aqui morrerei. E Benaia voltou com esta resposta ao rei, dizendo: Assim falou Joabe, e assim me respondeu.

And Benaiah came to the Tabernacle of the Lord, and sayd vnto him, Thus sayth the King, Come out. And he sayde, Nay, but I will die here. Then Benaiah brought the King worde againe, saying, Thus sayd Ioab, and thus he answered me.

31 E o rei lhe disse: Faze como ele disse; mata-lhe e enterra-o, e tira de mim e da casa de meu pai o sangue que Joabe derramou injustamente.

And the King sayde vnto him, Doe as he hath sayd, and smite him, and bury him, that thou mayest take away the blood, which Ioab shed causelesse, from me and from the house of my father.

32 E o SENHOR fará voltar seu sangue sobre sua cabeça; porque ele matou dois homens mais justos e melhores que ele, aos quais matou à espada sem que meu pai, Davi, soubesse nada: a Abner filho de Ner, general do exército de Israel, e a Amasa filho de Jéter, general do exército de Judá.

And the Lord shall bring his blood vpon his owne head: for he smote two men more righteous and better then he, and slew them with the sword, and my father Dauid knew not: to wit, Abner the sonne of Ner, captaine of the hoste of Israel, and Amasa the sonne of Iether captaine of the hoste of Iudah.

33 O sangue deles, pois, recairá sobre a cabeça de Joabe, e sobre a cabeça de sua descendência para sempre; mas sobre Davi e sobre sua descendência, e sobre sua casa e sobre seu trono, haverá perpetuamente paz da parte do SENHOR.

Their blood shall therefore returne vpon the head of Ioab, and on the head of his seede for euer: but vpon Dauid, and vpon his seede, and vpon his house, and vpon his throne shall there be peace for euer from the Lord.

34 Então Benaia, filho de Joiada, subiu, e o golpeou, e o matou; e foi sepultado em sua casa no deserto.

So Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada went vp, and smote him, and slewe him, and he was buryed in his owne house in the wildernesse.

35 E o rei pôs em seu lugar a Benaia, filho de Joiada, sobre o exército; e o rei pôs por sacerdote a Zadoque em lugar de Abiatar.

And the King put Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada in his roume ouer the hoste: and the King set Zadok the Priest in the roume of Abiathar.

36 Depois o rei mandou convocar Simei, e disse-lhe: Edifica para ti uma casa em Jerusalém, e mora ali, e não saias de lá à uma parte nem à outra;

Afterwarde the King sent, and called Shimei, and sayde vnto him, Buylde thee an house in Ierusalem, and dwell there, and depart not thence any whither.

37 porque sabe com certeza que no dia que saíres, e passares o ribeiro de Cedrom, sem dúvida morrerás, e teu sangue será sobre a tua cabeça.

For that day that thou goest out, and passest ouer the riuer of Kidron, knowe assuredly, that thou shalt dye the death: thy blood shall be vpon thine owne head.

38 E Simei disse ao rei: A palavra é boa; como o rei, meu senhor, disse, assim teu servo o fará. E Simei morou em Jerusalém por muitos dias.

And Shimei sayd vnto the King, The thing is good: as my lord the King hath sayd, so wil thy seruant doe. So Shimei dwelt in Ierusalem many dayes.

39 Porém passados três anos, aconteceu que se lhe fugiram a Simei dois servos a Aquis, filho de Maaca, rei de Gate. E avisaram a Simei, dizendo: Eis que teus servos estão em Gate.

And after three yeres two of the seruants of Shimei fled away vnto Achish sonne of Maachah King of Gath: and they tolde Shimei, saying, Behold, thy seruants be in Gath.

40 Então Simei se levantou, preparou seu asno, e foi a Gate, a Aquis, para procurar seus servos. Assim Simei foi, e trouxe os seus servos de Gate.

And Shimei arose, and sadled his asse, and went to Gath to Achish, to seeke his seruantes: and Shimei went, and brought his seruants from Gath.

41 E disseram a Salomão como Simei havia ido de Jerusalém a Gate, e que havia voltado.

And it was tolde Salomon, that Shimei had gone from Ierusalem to Gath, and was come againe.

42 Então o rei mandou que convocassem a Simei, e disse-lhe: Não te fiz jurar pelo SENHOR, e te adverti, dizendo: No dia que saíres, e fores para qualquer outro lugar, sabe que com certeza morrerás? E tu me disseste: A palavra é boa, eu a obedecerei.

And the King sent and called Shimei, and sayde vnto him, Did I not make thee to sweare by the Lord, and protested vnto thee, saying, That day that thou goest out, and walkest any whither, knowe assuredly that thou shalt dye the death? And thou saydest vnto mee, The thing is good, that I haue heard.

43 Por que, pois, não guardaste o juramento do SENHOR, nem o mandamento que te impus?

Why then hast thou not kept the othe of the Lord, and the commandement wherewith I charged thee?

44 Disse mais o rei a Simei: Tu sabes toda a maldade, a qual teu coração conhece que cometeste contra meu pai, Davi; por isso o SENHOR retribuiu a tua maldade sobre a tua cabeça.

The King sayde also to Shimei, Thou knowest all the wickednes whereunto thine heart is priuie, that thou diddest to Dauid my father: the Lord therefore shall bring thy wickednesse vpon thine owne head.

45 Mas o rei Salomão será abençoado, e o trono de Davi será confirmado diante do SENHOR para sempre.

And let King Salomon be blessed, and the throne of Dauid stablished before the Lord for euer.

46 Então o rei mandou a Benaia, filho de Joiada, o qual saiu para ferir-lhe; e ele morreu. Assim o reino foi confirmado na mão de Salomão.

So the King comanded Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada: who went out and smote him that he dyed. And the kingdome was established in the hand of Salomon.
