1 Reis 12

1 E foi Roboão a Siquém; porque todo Israel havia vindo a Siquém para fazê-lo rei.

And Rehoboam went to Shechem: for al Israel were come to Sheche, to make him king

2 E aconteceu, que quando o ouviu Jeroboão filho de Nebate, que estava em Egito, porque havia fugido de diante do rei Salomão, e habitava em Egito;

And whe Ieroboam ye sonne of Nebat heard of it (who was yet in Egypt, whither Ieroboam had fled from king Salomon, and dwelt in Egypt)

3 Enviaram e chamaram-lhe. Veio pois Jeroboão e toda a congregação de Israel, e falaram a Roboão, dizendo:

Then they sent and called him: and Ieroboam and all the Congregation of Israel came, and spake vnto Rehoboam, saying,

4 Teu pai agravou nosso jugo, mas agora tu diminui algo da dura servidão de teu pai, e do jugo pesado que ele pôs sobre nós, e te serviremos.

Thy father made our yoke grieuous: now therefore make thou the grieuous seruitude of thy father, and his sore yoke which he put vpon vs, lighter, and we will serue thee.

5 E ele lhes disse: Ide, e daqui a três dias voltai a mim. E o povo se foi.

And he said vnto them, Depart yet for three dayes, then come againe to me. And the people departed.

6 Então o rei Roboão tomou conselho com os anciãos que haviam estado diante de Salomão seu pai quando vivia, e disse: Como aconselhais vós que responda a este povo?

And King Rehoboam tooke counsell with the olde men that had stande before Salomon his father, while he yet liued, and sayde, What counsell giue ye, that I may make an answere to this people?

7 E eles lhe falaram, dizendo: Se tu fores hoje servo deste povo, e o servires, e respondendo-lhe boas palavras lhes falares, eles te servirão para sempre.

And they spake vnto him, saying, If thou be a seruant vnto this people this day, and serue them, and answere them, and speake kinde wordes to them, they will be thy seruants for euer.

8 Mas ele, deixado o conselho dos anciãos que eles lhe haviam dado, tomou conselho com os rapazes que se haviam criado com ele, e estavam diante dele.

But he forsooke the counsell that the olde men had giuen him, and asked counsell of the yong men that had bene brought vp with him, and waited on him.

9 E disse-lhes: Como aconselhais vós que respondamos a este povo, que me falou, dizendo: Diminui algo do jugo que teu pai pôs sobre nós?

And he said vnto them, What counsell giue ye, that we may answere this people, which haue spoken to me, saying, Make the yoke, which thy father did put vpon vs, lighter?

10 Então os rapazes que se haviam criado com ele lhe responderam, dizendo: Assim falarás a este povo que te disse estas palavras: Teu pai agravou nosso jugo; mas tu diminui-nos algo: assim lhes falarás: O menor dedo dos meus é mais espesso que os lombos de meu pai.

Then the yong men that were brought vp with him, spake vnto him, saying, Thus shalt thou say vnto this people, that haue spoken vnto thee, and said, Thy father hath made our yoke heauie, but make thou it lighter vnto vs: euen thus shalt thou say vnto them, My least part shalbe bigger then my fathers loynes.

11 Agora, pois, meu pai vos impôs carga de pesado jugo, mas eu acrescentarei a vosso jugo; meu pai vos feriu com açoites, mas eu vos ferirei com escorpiões.

Now where as my father did burden you with a grieuous yoke, I will yet make your yoke heauier: my father hath chastised you with rods, but I will correct you with scourges.

12 E ao terceiro dia veio Jeroboão com todo o povo a Roboão; segundo o rei o havia mandado, dizendo: Voltai a mim ao terceiro dia.

Then Ieroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king had appointed, saying, Come to me againe ye thirde day.

13 E o rei respondeu ao povo duramente, deixado o conselho dos anciãos que eles lhe haviam dado;

And the king answered the people sharpely, and left the old mens counsell that they gaue him,

14 E falou-lhes conforme ao conselho dos rapazes, dizendo: Meu pai agravou vosso jugo, mas eu acrescentarei a vosso jugo; meu pai vos feriu com açoites, mas eu vos ferirei com escorpiões.

And spake to them after the counsell of the yong men, saying, My father made your yoke grieuous, and I will make your yoke more grieuous: my father hath chastised you with rods, but I will correct you with scourges.

15 E não ouviu o rei ao povo; porque era ordenação do SENHOR, para confirmar sua palavra, que o SENHOR havia falado por meio de Aías silonita a Jeroboão filho de Nebate.

And the King hearkened not vnto the people: for it was the ordinance of the Lord, that he might perfourme his saying, which the Lord had spoken by Ahiiah the Shilonite vnto Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat.

16 E quando todo o povo viu que o rei não lhes havia ouvido, respondeu-lhe estas palavras, dizendo: Que parte temos nós com Davi? Não temos propriedade no filho de Jessé. Israel, a tuas moradas! Provê agora em tua casa, Davi! Então Israel se foi a suas moradas.

So when all Israel sawe that the King regarded them not, the people answered the King thus, saying, What portion haue we in Dauid? we haue none inheritance in the sonne of Ishai. To your tents, O Israel: nowe see to thine owne house, Dauid. So Israel departed vnto their tents.

17 Mas reinou Roboão sobre os filhos de Israel que moravam nas cidades de Judá.

Howbeit ouer the children of Israel, which dwelt in the cities of Iudah, did Rehoboam reigne still.

18 E o rei Roboão enviou a Adorão, que estava sobre os tributos; mas apedrejou-lhe todo Israel, e morreu. Então o rei Roboão se esforçou a subir em um carro, e fugir a Jerusalém.

Nowe the King Rehoboam sent Adoram the receiuer of the tribute, and all Israel stoned him to death: then King Rehoboam made speede to get him vp to his charet, to flee to Ierusalem.

19 Assim se separou Israel da casa de Davi até hoje.

And Israel rebelled against the house of Dauid vnto this day.

20 E aconteceu que, ouvindo todo Israel que Jeroboão havia voltado, enviaram e chamaram-lhe à congregação, e fizeram-lhe rei sobre todo Israel, sem restar tribo alguma que seguisse a casa de Davi, a não ser somente a tribo de Judá.

And when all Israel had heard that Ieroboam was come againe, they sent and called him vnto the assemblie, and made him King ouer all Israel: none followed the house of Dauid, but the tribe of Iudah onely.

21 E quando Roboão veio a Jerusalém, juntou toda a casa de Judá e a tribo de Benjamim, cento e oitenta mil homens escolhidos de guerra, para fazer guerra à casa de Israel, e restituir o reino a Roboão filho de Salomão.

And when Rehoboam was come to Ierusalem, he gathered all the house of Iudah with the tribe of Beniamin an hundreth and foure score thousand of chosen men (which were good warriours) to fight against the house of Israel, and to bring the kingdome againe to Rehoboam the sonne of Salomon.

22 Mas foi palavra do SENHOR a Semaías homem de Deus, dizendo:

But the worde of God came vnto Shemaiah the man of God, saying,

23 Fala a Roboão filho de Salomão, rei de Judá, e a toda a casa de Judá e de Benjamim, e aos demais do povo, dizendo:

Speake vnto Rehoboam the sonne of Salomon King of Iudah, and vnto all the house of Iudah and Beniamin, and the remnant of the people, saying,

24 Assim disse o SENHOR: Não vades, nem luteis contra vossos irmãos os filhos de Israel; voltai-vos cada um à sua casa; porque este negócio eu o fiz. E eles ouviram a palavra de Deus, e voltaram, e foram-se, conforme à palavra do SENHOR.

Thus saith the Lord, Ye shall not go vp, nor fight against your brethren the children of Israel: returne euery man to his house: for this thing is done by me. They obeyed therefore the worde of the Lord and returned, and departed, according to the worde of the Lord.

25 E reedificou Jeroboão a Siquém no monte de Efraim, e habitou nela; e saindo dali, reedificou a Peniel.

Then Ieroboam built Shechem in mount Ephraim, and dwelt therein, and went from thence, and built Penuel.

26 E disse Jeroboão em seu coração: Agora se voltará o reino à casa de Davi,

And Ieroboam thought in his heart, Nowe shall the kingdome returne to the house of Dauid.

27 Se este povo subir a sacrificar à casa do SENHOR em Jerusalém: porque o coração deste povo se converterá a seu senhor Roboão rei de Judá, e me matarão a mim, e se tornarão a Roboão rei de Judá.

If this people goe vp and doe sacrifice in the house of the Lord at Ierusalem, then shall the heart of this people turne againe vnto their lorde, euen to Rehoboam King of Iudah: so shall they kill me and goe againe to Rehoboam King of Iudah.

28 E havido conselho, fez o rei dois bezerros de ouro, e disse ao povo: Demais subistes a Jerusalém: eis que teus deuses, ó Israel, que te fizeram subir da terra do Egito.

Whereupon the King tooke counsell, and made two calues of golde, and saide vnto them, It is too much for you to goe vp to Ierusalem: beholde, O Israel, thy gods, which brought thee vp out of the lande of Egypt.

29 E pôs o um em Betel, e o outro pôs em Dã.

And he set the one in Beth-el, and the other set he in Dan.

30 E isto foi ocasião de pecado; porque o povo ia a adorar diante do um, até Dã.

And this thing turned to sinne: for the people went (because of the one) euen to Dan.

31 Fez também casa de altos, e fez sacerdotes da classe do povo, que não eram dos filhos de Levi.

Also he made an house of hie places, and made Priestes of the lowest of the people, which were not of the sonnes of Leui.

32 Então instituiu Jeroboão solenidade no mês oitavo, aos quinze do mês, conforme à solenidade que se celebrava em Judá; e sacrificou sobre altar. Assim fez em Betel, sacrificando aos bezerros que havia feito. Ordenou também em Betel sacerdote

And Ieroboam made a feast the fifteenth day of the eight moneth, like vnto the feast that is in Iudah, and offred on the altar. So did he in Beth-el and offered vnto the calues that he had made: and he placed in Beth-el the Priestes of the hie places, which he had made.

33 Sacrificou pois sobre o altar que ele havia feito em Betel, aos quinze do mês oitavo, o mês que ele havia inventado de seu coração; e fez festa aos filhos de Israel, e subiu ao altar para queimar incenso.

And he offered vpon the altar, which he had made in Beth-el, the fifteenth day of the eight moneth, (euen in the moneth which he had forged of his owne heart) and made a solemne feast vnto the children of Israel: and he went vp to the altar, to burne incense.
