1 João 4
1 Amados, não creiais em todo espírito, mas provai se os espíritos são da parte de Deus; porque muitos falsos profetas têm vindo ao mundo.
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but try the spirits, whether they be from God; because many false prophets are gone forth into the world.
2 Nisto conhecereis o Espírito de Deus: todo espírito que confessa que Jesus Cristo veio em carne é de Deus;
By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses Jesus Christ has come in the flesh, is from God.
3 e todo espírito que não confessa Jesus não é de Deus; e este é o do anticristo, do qual já ouvistes que virá, e que já agora está no mundo.
And every spirit that does not confess Jesus, is not from God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, which you have heard that it comes, and now is in the world already.
4 Filhinhos, vós sois de Deus, e tendes vencido esses; pois maior é o que está em vós do que o que está no mundo.
You are of God, little children, and have overcome them; because he is greater, who is with you, than he who is with the world.
5 Eles são do mundo, por isso falam do mundo, e o mundo os ouve.
They are of the world; therefore they speak from the world, and the world hearkens to them.
6 Nós somos de Deus. Aquele que conhece Deus ouve-nos; aquele que não é de Deus não nos ouve. Nisto conhecemos o Espírito da verdade e o espírito do erro.
We are of God: he who know God, hearkens to us; he who is not of God, hearkens not to us. By this we know the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
7 Amados, nos amemos uns aos outros; porque o amor é de Deus, e todo aquele que ama é nascido de Deus e conhece a Deus.
Beloved, let us love one another; for love is from God: and every one who loves, has been begotten by God, and knows God.
8 Aquele que não ama não conhece a Deus, porque Deus é amor.
He who does not love, does not know God; for God is love.
9 Nisto se manifestou o amor de Deus por nós: que Deus enviou o seu Filho unigênito ao mundo, para que por meio dele vivamos.
By this the love of God was manifested to us, that God sent forth his Son, the only begotten, into the world, that we might live through him.
10 Nisto está o amor, não que nós tenhamos amado a Deus, mas sim, que ele nos amou, e enviou seu Filho como sacrifício para perdão dos nossos pecados.
In this is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent forth his Son to be a propitiation for our sins.
11 Amados, se Deus assim nos amou, também nós devemos amar uns aos outros.
Beloved, if God so loved us, we, also, ought to love one another.
12 Ninguém jamais viu Deus; se nos amamos uns aos outros, Deus está em nós, e o amor dele em nós é aperfeiçoado.
No one has seen God, at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and his love is made perfect in us.
13 Nisto sabemos que estamos nele, e ele em nós, porque ele nos deu do seu Espírito.
By this, we know that we abide in him, and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit.
14 E vimos e damos testemunho de que o Pai enviou o Filho [para ser] Salvador do mundo.
Now we have seen, and bear testimony, that the Father has sent forth his Son, to be the Saviour of the world.
15 Todo aquele que confessar que Jesus é o Filho de Deus, Deus está nele, e ele em Deus.
Whoever will confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.
16 E nós conhecemos e cremos no amor que Deus tem por nós. Deus é amor, e quem está no amor está em Deus, e Deus habita nele.
And we have known, and believed the love which God has in us. God is love; wherefore, he who abides in love, abides in God, and God in him.
17 Nisto o amor é aperfeiçoado em nós, para que no dia do juízo tenhamos confiança, pois, como ele é, assim somos nós neste mundo.
By this, the love has been perfected in us, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as he is, so are we in this world.
18 No amor não há medo; pelo contrário, o perfeito amor expulsa o medo; pois o medo está relacionado ao castigo; e o que teme não está aperfeiçoado em amor.
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has torment: therefore, he who fears is not made perfect in love.
19 Nós amamos, porque ele nos amou primeiro.
We love him, because he first loved us.
20 Se alguém diz: “Eu amo a Deus”, e odeia seu irmão, é mentiroso. Pois quem não ama seu irmão, ao qual viu, não pode amar a Deus, a quem nunca viu.
If any one say, Indeed I love God, and yet hate his brother, he is a liar: for he who loves not his brother, whom he has seen, how can he love God, whom he has not seen?
21 E dele temos este mandamento: quem ama a Deus, ame também seu irmão.
Moreover, this commandment we have from him, that he who loves God, loves his brother, also.
