1 Coríntios 4

1 Que as pessoas nos considerem como servidores de Cristo, e guardiões dos mistérios de Deus.

People ought to regard us as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.

2 Além disso, exige-se dos guardiões que cada um seja fiel.

Now it is required of stewards that they be found faithful.

3 Quanto a mim, pouco me importa ser julgado por vós, ou por qualquer juízo humano; nem eu julgo a mim mesmo.

But for me it is a very small thing if I am judged by you, or by any human court. Indeed, I do not even judge myself.

4 Porque em nada me sinto culpável; mas nem por isso estou justificado; porém quem me julga é o Senhor.

For I am conscious of nothing against myself, yet I am not thereby acquitted; but he who judges me is the Lord.

5 Então nada julgueis antes do tempo, até que o Senhor venha, o qual também trará à luz as coisas ocultas nas trevas, e manifestará as intenções dos corações; e então cada um receberá de Deus a aprovação.

So then, do not judge anything before the appointed time. Wait until the Lord comes, who will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and reveal the intentions of the heart. At that time each person will receive his praise from God.

6 E isto, irmãos, fiz a comparação relativa a mim e a Apolo por causa de vós; para que em nós aprendais a não fazer suposições além do que está escrito; para que não fiqueis arrogantes por preferir um contra o outro.

Now, brothers, I have applied these things to myself and Apollos for your sake, so that through us you may learn not to think beyond what is written, so that you may not be puffed up, with each one of you supporting one man against another.

7 Pois quem te faz diferentemente superior? E o que tens tu, que não tenhas recebido? E se o recebeste, por que te orgulhas, como se não o tivesse recebido?

For who regards yoʋ as superior? What do yoʋ have that yoʋ did not receive? And if yoʋ received it, why do yoʋ boast as though yoʋ did not receive it?

8 Vós já estais satisfeitos, já estais ricos, e reinastes sem nós; e bom seria se vós reinásseis, para que também nós reinássemos convosco.

You are already full! You have already become rich! You have begun to reign without us! And how I wish that you really were reigning, so that we could reign with you!

9 Pois acho que Deus colocou a nós, os apóstolos, por último, como sentenciados à morte; pois somos como espetáculo ao mundo, tanto aos anjos como aos seres humanos.

For I think that God has put us apostles on display at the end of the procession, as sentenced to death, because we have become a spectacle to the world, both to angels and men.

10 Nós [somos] loucos por causa de Cristo, mas vós sábios em Cristo; nós fracos, mas vós fortes; vós ilustres, mas nós desonrados.

We are fools for the sake of Christ, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are esteemed, but we are dishonored.

11 Até esta presente hora sofremos fome e sede, e estamos nus, e somos golpeados, e não temos morada certa.

To the present hour we hunger and thirst; we are poorly clothed and beaten down, with no home of our own.

12 E ficamos exaustos, trabalhando com as nossas próprias mãos; somos insultados, e bendizemos; somos perseguidos, e nós suportamos.

We labor, working with our own hands. When we are reviled, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure;

13 Somos blasfemados, e respondemos humildemente; somos feitos como a escória do mundo, e como o lixo de todos, até agora.

when we are slandered, we encourage. We have become like the refuse of the world, the scum of all things, even to this present time.

14 Não escrevo estas coisas para vos envergonhar; mas sim, para [vos] advertir como a meus amados filhos.

I am not writing this to shame you, but rather I am admonishing you as my beloved children.

15 Porque ainda que tivésseis dez mil tutores em Cristo, contudo não [tendes] muitos pais. Porque eu vos gerei em Cristo Jesus por meio do Evangelho.

For even if you had ten thousand guardians in Christ, you would not have many fathers. For in Christ Jesus I became a father to you through the gospel.

16 Portanto eu vos chamo para que sejais meus imitadores.

Therefore I urge you to be imitators of me.

17 Por isso eu vos enviei Timóteo, que é meu filho amado e fiel no Senhor; ele vos lembrará dos meus caminhos em Cristo, como por todos os lugares eu ensino em cada igreja.

That is why I have sent you Timothy, who is my beloved and faithful child in the Lord. He will remind you of my ways in Christ, just as I teach them everywhere in every church.

18 Mas alguns andam arrogantes, como se eu não fosse até vós.

But some of you have become puffed up, as though I were not coming to you.

19 Porém logo irei vos visitar, se o Senhor quiser; e [então] conhecerei, não as palavras dos que andam arrogantes, mas sim o poder [deles].

But I will come to you soon, if the Lord wills, and I will find out not the talk of those who have become puffed up, but their power.

20 Porque o Reino de Deus não [consiste] de palavras, mas sim de poder.

For the kingdom of God is demonstrated not by talk but by power.

21 Que quereis? Que eu venha até vós com a vara [da disciplina], ou com amor e espírito de mansidão?

What do you prefer? Shall I come to you with a rod, or with love and a spirit of gentleness?
