1 Crônicas 21
1 Mas Satanás se levantou contra Israel, e incitou a Davi a que contasse a Israel.
And Satan stood up against Israel, and moved David to number Israel.
2 E disse Davi a Joabe e a os príncipes do povo: Ide, contai a Israel desde Berseba até Dã, e trazei-me o número deles para que eu o saiba.
And David said to Joab and to the princes of the people: 'Go, number Israel from Beersheba even to Dan; and bring me word, that I may know the sum of them.'
3 E disse Joabe: Acrescente o SENHOR a seu povo cem vezes outros tantos. Rei senhor meu, não são todos estes servos de meu senhor? Para que procura meu senhor isto, que será pernicioso a Israel?
And Joab said: 'The LORD make His people a hundred times so many more as they are; but, my lord the king, are they not all my lord's servants? why doth my lord require this thing? why will he be a cause of guilt unto Israel?'
4 Mas o mandamento do rei pode mais que Joabe. Saiu por tanto Joabe, e foi por todo Israel; e voltou a Jerusalém, e deu a conta do número do povo a Davi.
Nevertheless the king's word prevailed against Joab. Wherefore Joab departed and went throughout all Israel, and came to Jerusalem.
5 E achou-se em todo Israel que tiravam espada, onze vezes cem mil; e de Judá quatrocentos e setenta mil homens que tiravam espada.
And Joab gave up the sum of the numbering of the people unto David. And all they of Israel were a thousand thousand and a hundred thousand men that drew sword; and Judah was four hundred three-score and ten thousand men that drew sword.
6 Entre estes não foram contados os levitas, nem os filhos de Benjamim, porque Joabe abominava o mandamento do rei.
But Levi and Benjamin he did not number among them; for the king's word was abominable to Joab.
7 Assim desagradou este negócio a os olhos de Deus, e feriu a Israel.
And God was displeased with this thing; therefore He smote Israel.
8 E disse Davi a Deus: Pequei gravemente em fazer isto: rogo-te que faças passar a iniquidade de teu servo, porque eu ei feito muito loucamente.
And David said unto God: 'I have sinned greatly, in that I have done this thing; but now, put away, I beseech Thee, the iniquity of Thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.'
9 E falou o SENHOR a Gade, vidente de Davi, dizendo:
And the LORD spoke unto Gad, David's seer, saying:
10 Vai, e fala a Davi, e dize-lhe: Assim disse o SENHOR: Três coisas te proponho; escolhe de elas uma que eu faça contigo.
'Go and speak unto David, saying: Thus saith the LORD: I offer thee three things; choose thee one of them, that I may do it unto thee.'
11 E vindo Gade a Davi, disse-lhe: Assim disse o SENHOR:
So Gad came to David, and said unto him: 'Thus saith the LORD: Take which thou wilt:
12 Escolhe-te, ou três anos de fome; ou ser por três meses defeito diante de teus inimigos, e que a espada de teus adversários te alcance; ou por três dias a espada do SENHOR e pestilência na terra, e que o anjo do SENHOR destrua em todo o termo de Israel. Olha, pois, o que responderá ao que me enviou.
either three years of famine; or three months to be swept away before thy foes, while the sword of thine enemies overtaketh thee; or else three days the sword of the LORD, even pestilence in the land, and the angel of the LORD destroying throughout all the borders of Israel. Now therefore consider what answer I shall return to Him that sent me.'
13 Então Davi disse a Gade: Estou em grande angústia: rogo que eu caia na mão do SENHOR; porque suas misericórdias são muitas em extremo, e que não caia eu em mãos de homens.
And David said unto Gad: 'I am in a great strait; let me fall now into the hand of the LORD, for very great are His mercies; and let me not fall into the hand of man.'
14 Assim o SENHOR deu pestilência em Israel, e caíram de Israel setenta mil homens.
So the LORD sent a pestilence upon Israel; and there fell of Israel seventy thousand men.
15 E enviou o SENHOR o anjo a Jerusalém para destruí-la: mas estando ele destruindo, olhou o SENHOR, e arrependeu-se daquele mal,
And God sent an angel unto Jerusalem to destroy it; and as he was about to destroy, the LORD beheld, and He repented Him of the evil, and said to the destroying angel: 'It is enough; now stay thy hand.' And the angel of the LORD was standing by the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
16 E levantando Davi seus olhos, viu ao anjo do SENHOR, que estava entre o céu e a terra, tendo uma espada nua em sua mão, estendida contra Jerusalém. Então Davi e os anciãos se prostraram sobre seus rostos, cobertos de sacos.
And David lifted up his eyes, and saw the angel of the LORD standing between the earth and the heaven, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders, clothed in sackcloth, fell upon their faces.
17 E disse Davi a Deus: Não sou eu o que fez contar o povo? Eu mesmo sou o que pequei, e certamente fiz mal; mas estas ovelhas, que fizeram? Ó SENHOR, Deus meu, seja agora tua mão contra mim, e contra a casa de meu pai, e não haja praga em teu povo.
And David said unto God: 'Is it not I that commanded the people to be numbered? even I it is that have sinned and done very wickedly; but these sheep, what have they done? let Thy hand, I pray Thee, O LORD my God, be against me, and against my father's house; but not against Thy people, that they should be plagued.'
18 E o anjo do SENHOR ordenou a Gade que dissesse a Davi, que subisse e construísse um altar a o SENHOR na era de Ornã jebuseu.
Then the angel of the LORD commanded Gad to say to David, that David should go up, and rear an altar unto the LORD in the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
19 Então Davi subiu, conforme a palavra de Gade que lhe havia dito em nome do SENHOR.
And David went up at the saying of Gad, which he spoke in the name of the LORD.
20 E voltando-se Ornã viu o anjo; pelo que se esconderam quatro filhos seus que com ele estavam. E Ornã trilhava o trigo.
And Ornan turned back, and saw the angel; and his four sons that were with him hid themselves. Now Ornan was threshing wheat.
21 E vindo Davi a Ornã, olhou este, e viu a Davi: e saindo da eira, prostrou-se em terra a Davi.
And as David came to Ornan, Ornan looked and saw David, and went out of the threshing-floor, and bowed down to David with his face to the ground.
22 Então disse Davi a Ornã: Dá-me este lugar da eira, em que edifique um altar a o SENHOR, e dá-o a mim por seu devido preço, para que cesse a praga do povo.
Then David said to Ornan: 'Give me the place of this threshing-floor, that I may build thereon an altar unto the LORD; for the full price shalt thou give it me; that the plague may be stayed from the people.'
23 E Ornã respondeu a Davi: Toma-o para ti, e faça meu senhor o rei o que bem lhe parecer; e ainda os bois darei para o holocausto, e os trilhos para lenha, e trigo para a oferta de alimentos; eu dou tudo.
And Ornan said unto David: 'Take it to thee, and let my lord the king do that which is good in his eyes; lo, I give thee the oxen for burnt-offerings, and the threshing-instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meal-offering; I give it all'
24 Então o rei Davi disse a Ornã: Não, mas sim que efetivamente a comprarei por seu justo preço: porque não tomarei para o SENHOR o que é teu, nem sacrificarei holocausto que nada me custe.
And king David said to Ornan: 'Nay, but I will verily buy it for the full price; for I will not take that which is thine for the LORD, nor offer a burnt-offering without cost.'
25 E deu Davi a Ornã pelo lugar seiscentos siclos de ouro por peso.
So David gave to Ornan for the place six hundred shekels of gold by weight.
26 E edificou ali Davi um altar a o SENHOR, em o que ofereceu holocaustos e sacrifícios pacíficos, e invocou a o SENHOR, o qual lhe respondeu por fogo dos céus em o altar do holocausto.
And David built there an altar unto the LORD, and offered burnt-offerings and peace-offerings, and called upon the LORD; and He answered him from heaven by fire upon the altar of burnt-offering.
27 E como o SENHOR falou ao anjo, ele voltou sua espada à bainha.
And the LORD commanded the angel; and he put up his sword back into the sheath thereof.
28 Então vendo Davi que o SENHOR lhe havia ouvido na eira de Ornã jebuseu, sacrificou ali.
At that time, when David saw that the LORD had answered him in the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite, then he sacrificed there.
29 E o tabernáculo do SENHOR que Moisés havia feito no deserto, e o altar do holocausto, estavam então no alto de Gibeão:
For the tabernacle of the LORD, which Moses made in the wilderness, and the altar of burnt-offering, were at that time in the high place at Gibeon.
30 Mas Davi não pode ir ali a consultar a Deus, porque estava espantado por causa da espada do anjo do SENHOR.
But David could not go before it to inquire of God; for he was terrified because of the sword of the angel of the LORD.
