Sofonias 2
1 Congregai-vos, sim, congregai-vos, ó nação que não tem desejo,
Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O nation not desired;
2 Antes que o decreto produza o seu efeito, antes que o dia passe como a pragana, antes que venha sobre vós a ira do Senhor, antes que venha sobre vós o dia da ira do Senhor.
Before the decree bring forth, [before] the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the LORD come upon you, before the day of the LORD’s anger come upon you.
3 Buscai ao Senhor, vós todos os mansos da terra, que pondes em obra o seu juízo: buscai a justiça, buscai a mansidão; porventura sereis escondidos no dia da ira do Senhor.
Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD’s anger.
4 Porque Gaza será desamparada, e Ascalon será assolada: Asdod ao meio dia será expelida, e Ekron será desarreigada.
For Gaza shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation: they shall drive out Ashdod at the noon day, and Ekron shall be rooted up.
5 Ai dos habitantes da borda do mar, do povo dos chereteos! a palavra do Senhor será contra vós, ó Canaan, terra dos philisteus, e eu vos farei destruir, até que não haja morador.
Woe unto the inhabitants of the sea coast, the nation of the Cherethites! the word of the LORD [is] against you; O Canaan, the land of the Philistines, I will even destroy thee, that there shall be no inhabitant.
6 E a borda do mar será por cabanas, que cavam os pastores, e currais dos rebanhos.
And the sea coast shall be dwellings [and] cottages for shepherds, and folds for flocks.
7 E será a borda para o resto da casa de Judá, que nela apascentem: à tarde se assentarão nas casas de Ascalon, porque o Senhor seu Deus os visitará, e lhes tornará o seu cativeiro.
And the coast shall be for the remnant of the house of Judah; they shall feed thereupon: in the houses of Ashkelon shall they lie down in the evening: for the LORD their God shall visit them, and turn away their captivity.
8 Eu ouvi o escarneio de Moab, e as injuriosas palavras dos filhos de Ammon, com que escarneceram do meu povo, e se engrandeceram contra o seu termo.
I have heard the reproach of Moab, and the revilings of the children of Ammon, whereby they have reproached my people, and magnified [themselves] against their border.
9 Portanto, vivo eu, diz o Senhor dos exércitos, o Deus de Israel, certamente Moab será como Sodoma, e os filhos de Ammon como Gomorra, campo de ortigas e poços de sal, e assolação perpétua; o resto do meu povo os saqueará, e o restante do meu povo os possuirá.
Therefore [as] I live, saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Surely Moab shall be as Sodom, and the children of Ammon as Gomorrah, [even] the breeding of nettles, and saltpits, and a perpetual desolation: the residue of my people shall spoil them, and the remnant of my people shall possess them.
10 Isto terão em recompensa da sua soberba, porque escarneceram, e se engrandeceram contra o povo do Senhor dos exércitos.
This shall they have for their pride, because they have reproached and magnified [themselves] against the people of the LORD of hosts.
11 O Senhor será terrível contra eles, porque emagrecerá a todos os deuses da terra; e cada um se inclinará a ele desde o seu lugar; todas as ilhas das nações.
The LORD [will be] terrible unto them: for he will famish all the gods of the earth; and [men] shall worship him, every one from his place, [even] all the isles of the heathen.
12 Também vós, ó ethiopes, sereis mortos com a minha espada.
Ye Ethiopians also, ye [shall be] slain by my sword.
13 Estenderá também a sua mão contra o norte, e destruirá a Assyria; e fará de Nínive uma assolação, terra seca como o deserto.
And he will stretch out his hand against the north, and destroy Assyria; and will make Nineveh a desolation, [and] dry like a wilderness.
14 E no meio dela repousarão os rebanhos, todos os animais dos povos; e alojar-se-ão nos seus capiteis assim o pelicano como o ouriço: a voz do seu canto retinirá nas janelas, a assolação estará no umbral, quando tiver descoberto a sua obra de cedro.
And flocks shall lie down in the midst of her, all the beasts of the nations: both the cormorant and the bittern shall lodge in the upper lintels of it; [their] voice shall sing in the windows; desolation [shall be] in the thresholds: for he shall uncover the cedar work.
15 Esta é a cidade que salta de alegria, que habita segura, que diz no seu coração: Eu sou, e não há mais do que eu: como se tornou em assolação em pousada de animais! qualquer que passar por ela assobiará, e meneará a sua mão
This [is] the rejoicing city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I [am], and [there is] none beside me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss, [and] wag his hand.
