Salmos 58
1 Acaso falais vós deveras, ó congregação, a justiça? julgais realmente, ó filhos dos homens
“To the chief musician Al-tashcheth, by David, a Michtham.” Do you indeed, who are dumb, speak righteously? do ye judge in uprightness, O ye sons of men?
2 Antes no coração obrais perversidades: sobre a terra pesais a violência das vossas mãos.
Even in [your] heart ye work injustice: on the earth do ye weigh out the violence of your hands.
3 Alienam-se os ímpios desde a madre; andam errados desde que nasceram, falando mentiras.
The wicked are estranged [from goodness] from the womb: those who speak lies go astray from their very birth.
4 O seu veneno é semelhante ao veneno da serpente; são como a víbora surda que tapa os ouvidos,
They have poison like the poison of a serpent: [they are] like the deaf adder that stoppeth her ear;
5 Para não ouvir a voz dos encantadores, do encantador sábio em encantamentos.
Which will not hearken to the voice of conjurers, yea, that of the wisest of all charmers.
6 Ó Deus, quebra-lhes os dentes nas suas bocas; arranca, Senhor, os dentes queixais aos filhos dos leões.
O God, break out their teeth in their mouth: the jaw-teeth of the young lions tear thou out, O Lord.
7 Escorram como águas que correm constantemente; quando ele armar as suas flechas, fiquem feitos em pedaços.
Let them melt away as water [which] runneth off: when each one bendeth [his bow to shoot] his arrows, let them be as if cut in pieces.
8 Como a lesma se derrete, assim se vá cada um deles, como o aborto de uma mulher, que nunca viu o sol.
As a snail which melteth, let him pass away; like the untimely birth of a woman which hath not seen the sun.
9 Antes que as vossas panelas sintam os espinhos, ele os arrebatará na sua indignação como com um redemoinho.
Before your pots can feel the thorns, will he take them away with a whirlwind, both the green and the burning.
10 O justo se alegrará quando vir a vingança; lavará os seus pés no sangue do ímpio.
The righteous will rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: he will bathe his steps in the blood of the wicked.
11 Então dirá o homem: deveras há uma recompensa para o justo; deveras há um Deus que julga na terra.
So that a man shall say, Verily fruit will come for the righteous: verily there is a God that judgeth on the earth.
