Salmos 49
1 Ouvi isto, vós todos os povos; inclinai os ouvidos, todos os moradores do mundo,
To him that excelleth. A Psalme committed to the sonnes of Korah. Heare this, all ye people: giue eare, all ye that dwell in the world,
2 Tanto baixos como altos, tanto ricos como pobres.
As well lowe as hie, both rich and poore.
3 A minha boca falará de sabedoria; e a meditação do meu coração será de entendimento.
My mouth shall speake of wisdome, and the meditation of mine heart is of knowledge.
4 Inclinarei os meus ouvidos a uma parábola: declararei o meu enigma na harpa.
I will incline mine eare to a parable, and vtter my graue matter vpon the harpe.
5 Porque temerei eu nos dias maus, quando me cercar a iniquidade dos que me armam ciladas?
Wherefore should I feare in the euil dayes, when iniquitie shall compasse me about, as at mine heeles?
6 Aqueles que confiam na sua fazenda, e se glóriam na multidão das suas riquezas,
They trust in their goods, and boast them selues in the multitude of their riches.
7 Nenhum deles de modo algum pode remir a seu irmão, ou dar a Deus o resgate dele
Yet a man can by no meanes redeeme his brother: he can not giue his raunsome to God,
8 (Pois a redenção da sua alma é caríssima, e cessará para sempre);
(So precious is the redemption of their soules, and the continuance for euer)
9 Para que viva para sempre, e não veja corrupção:
That he may liue still for euer, and not see the graue.
10 Porque ele vê que os sábios morrem: perecem igualmente tanto o louco como o brutal, e deixam a outros os seus bens.
For he seeth that wise men die, and also that the ignorant and foolish perish, and leaue their riches for others.
11 O seu pensamento interior é que as suas casas serão perpétuas e as suas habitações de geração em geração: dão às suas terras os seus próprios nomes.
Yet they thinke, their houses, and their habitations shall continue for euer, euen from generation to generation, and call their lands by their names.
12 Todavia o homem que está na honra não permanece; antes é como os brutos que perecem.
But man shall not continue in honour: he is like the beastes that die.
13 Este caminho deles é a sua loucura; contudo a sua posteridade aprova as suas palavras (Selah)
This their way vttereth their foolishnes: yet their posteritie delite in their talke. (Selah)
14 Como ovelhas são postos na sepultura; a morte se alimentará deles; e os retos terão domínio sobre eles na manhã, e a sua formosura na sepultura se consumirá da sua morada. (Sheol h7585)
Like sheepe they lie in graue: death deuoureth them, and the righteous shall haue domination ouer them in the morning: for their beautie shall consume, when they shall goe from their house to graue. (Sheol h7585)
But God shall deliuer my soule from the power of the graue: for he will receiue me. (Selah) (Sheol h7585)
16 Não temas, quando alguém se enriquece, quando a glória da sua casa se engrandece.
Be not thou afrayd when one is made rich, and when the glory of his house is increased.
17 Porque, quando morrer, nada levará consigo, nem a sua glória o acompanhará.
For he shall take nothing away when he dieth, neither shall his pompe descende after him.
18 Ainda que na sua vida ele bendisse a sua alma, e os homens te louvam, quando fizeres bem a ti mesmo,
For while he liued, he reioyced himselfe: and men will prayse thee, when thou makest much of thy selfe.
19 Irá para a geração de seus pais; eles nunca verão a luz
He shall enter into the generation of his fathers, and they shall not liue for euer.
20 O homem que está na honra, e não tem entendimento, é semelhante às bestas que perecem.
Man is in honour, and vnderstandeth not: he is like to beasts that perish.
