Provérbios 31
1 Palavras do rei Lemuel: a profecia com que lhe ensinou a sua mãe.
The words of king Lamuel. The vision by which his mother instructed him:
2 Como, filho meu? e como, ó filho do meu ventre? e como, ó filho das minhas promessas?
“What, O my beloved? What, O beloved of my womb? What, O beloved of my vows?
3 Não dês às mulheres a tua força, nem os teus caminhos às que destroem os reis
Do not give your substance to women, or your riches to overthrow kings.
4 Não é dos reis, ó Lemuel, não é dos reis beber vinho, nem dos príncipes desejar bebida forte.
Not to kings, O Lamuel, not to kings give wine. For there are no secrets where drunkenness reigns.
5 Para que não bebam, e se esqueçam do estatuto, e pervertam o juízo de todos os aflitos.
And perhaps they may drink and forget judgments, and alter the case of the sons of the poor.
6 Dai bebida forte aos que perecem, e o vinho aos amargosos de espírito:
Give strong drink to the grieving, and wine to those who are bitter in soul.
7 Para que bebam, e se esqueçam da sua pobreza, e do seu trabalho não se lembrem mais.
Let them drink, and forget their needs, and remember their sorrow no more.
8 Abre a tua boca a favor do mudo, pelo direito de todos que vão perecendo.
Open your mouth for the mute and for all the cases of the sons who are passing through.
9 Abre a tua boca; julga retamente; e faze justiça aos pobres e aos necessitados.
Open your mouth, declare what is just, and do justice to the indigent and the poor.
10 Aleph. Mulher virtuosa quem a achará? porque a sua valia muito excede a de rubins.
Who shall find a strong woman? Far away, and from the furthest parts, is her price.
11 Beth. O coração do seu marido está nela tão confiado que fazenda lhe não faltará.
The heart of her husband confides in her, and he will not be deprived of spoils.
12 Gimel. ela lhe faz bem, e não mal, todos os dias da sua vida.
She will repay him with good, and not evil, all the days of her life.
13 Daleth. Busca lã e linho, e trabalha com a indústria de suas mãos.
She has sought wool and flax, and she has worked these by the counsel of her hands.
14 He. É como o navio de mercador; de longe traz o seu pão.
She has become like a merchant’s ship, bringing her bread from far away.
15 Vau. Ainda até de noite se levanta, e dá mantimento à sua casa, e ordenaria porção às suas servas.
And she has risen in the night, and given a prey to her household, and provisions to her maids.
16 Zain. Considera uma herdade, e adquire-a: planta uma vinha do fruto de suas mãos.
She has considered a field and bought it. From the fruit of her own hands, she has planted a vineyard.
17 Heth. Cinge os seus lombos de força, e corrobora os seus braços.
She has wrapped her waist with fortitude, and she has strengthened her arm.
18 Teth. Prova e vê que é boa a sua mercância; e a sua lâmpada não se apaga de noite.
She has tasted and seen that her tasks are good; her lamp shall not be extinguished at night.
19 Jod. Estende as suas mãos ao fuso, e as palmas das suas mãos pegam na roca.
She has put her hand to strong things, and her fingers have taken hold of the spindle.
20 Caph. Abre a sua mão ao aflito; e ao necessitado estende as suas mãos.
She has opened her hand to the needy, and she has extended her hands to the poor.
21 Lamed. Não temerá, por causa da neve, por sua casa, porque toda a sua casa anda forrada de roupa dobrada.
She shall not fear, in the cold of snow, for her household. For all those of her household have been clothed two-fold.
22 Mem. Faz para si tapeçaria; de linho fino e púrpura é o seu vestido.
She has made embroidered clothing for herself. Fine linen and purple is her garment.
23 Nun. Conhece-se o seu marido nas portas, quando se assenta com os anciãos da terra.
Her husband is noble at the gates, when he sits among the senators of the land.
24 Samech. Faz panos de linho fino, e vende-os, e dá cintas aos mercadores.
She has made finely woven cloth and sold it, and she has delivered a waistband to the Canaanite.
25 Ain. A força e a glória são os seus vestidos, e ri-se do dia futuro.
Strength and elegance are her clothing, and she will laugh in the final days.
26 Pé. Abre a sua boca com sabedoria, e a lei da beneficência está na sua língua.
She has opened her mouth to wisdom, and the law of clemency is on her tongue.
27 Tsade. atenta pelos passos de sua casa, e não come o pão da preguiça.
She has considered the paths of her household, and she has not eaten her bread in idleness.
28 Koph. Levantam-se seus filhos, prezam-na por benaventurada; como também seu marido, que a louva, dizendo:
Her sons rose up and predicted great happiness; her husband rose up and praised her.
29 Res. Muitas filhas obraram virtuosamente; porém tu a todas as sobrepujas.
Many daughters have gathered together riches; you have surpassed them all.
30 Sin. Enganosa é a graça e vaidade a formosura, mas a mulher que teme ao Senhor essa será louvada.
Charm is false, and beauty is vain. The woman who fears the Lord, the same shall be praised.
31 Thau. dai-lhe do fruto das suas mãos, e louvem-na nas portas as suas obras.
Give to her from the fruit of her own hands. And let her works praise her at the gates.
