Provérbios 29
1 O homem que muitas vezes repreendido endurece a cerviz de repente será quebrantado sem que haja cura.
He that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and without remedy.
2 Quando os justos se engrandecem, o povo se alegra, mas quando o ímpio domina o povo suspira.
When the righteous increase, the people rejoice; but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.
3 O homem que ama a sabedoria alegra a seu pai, mas o companheiro de prostitutas desperdiça a fazenda.
Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father; but he that is a companion of harlots destroyeth [his] substance.
4 O rei com juízo sustem a terra, mas o amigo de peitas a transtorna.
A king by just judgment establisheth the land; but he that taketh gifts overthroweth it.
5 O homem que lisongeia a seu próximo, arma uma rede aos seus passos.
A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his steps.
6 Na transgressão do homem mau há laço, mas o justo jubila e se alegra.
In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare; but the righteous shall sing and rejoice.
7 Informa-se o justo da causa dos pobres, mas o ímpio não compreende o conhecimento.
The righteous taketh knowledge of the cause of the poor; the wicked understandeth not knowledge.
8 Os homens escarnecedores abrazam a cidade, mas os sábios desviam a ira.
Scornful men set the city in a flame; but the wise turn away anger.
9 O homem sábio que pleiteia com o tolo, quer se turbe quer se ria, não terá descanço.
If a wise man contendeth with a fool, whether he rage or laugh, [he] hath no rest.
10 Os homens sanguinolentos aborrecem ao sincero, mas os retos procuram o seu bem.
The bloodthirsty hate the perfect, but the upright care for his soul.
11 Todo o seu espírito profere o tolo, mas o sábio o encobre e reprime.
A fool uttereth all his mind; but a wise [man] keepeth it back.
12 O governador que dá atenção às palavras mentirosas, achará que todos os seus servos são ímpios.
If a ruler hearken to lying words, all his servants are wicked.
13 O pobre e o usurário se encontram, e o Senhor alumia os olhos de ambos.
The indigent and the oppressor meet together; Jehovah lighteneth the eyes of them both.
14 O rei, que julga os pobres conforme a verdade, firmará o seu trono para sempre.
A king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever.
15 A vara e a repreensão dão sabedoria, mas o rapaz entregue a si mesmo envergonha a sua mãe.
The rod and reproof give wisdom; but a child left [to himself] bringeth his mother to shame.
16 Quando os ímpios se multiplicam, multiplicam-se as transgressões, mas os justos verão a sua queda.
When the wicked increase, transgression increaseth; but the righteous shall see their fall.
17 Castiga a teu filho, e te fará descançar; e dará delícias à tua alma.
Chasten thy son, and he shall give thee rest, and shall give delight unto thy soul.
18 Não havendo profecia, o povo fica dissoluto; porém o que guarda a lei esse é bem-aventurado:
Where there is no vision the people cast off restraint; but happy is he that keepeth the law.
19 O servo se não emendará com palavras, porque, ainda que te entenda, todavia não responderá.
A servant is not corrected by words: he understandeth indeed, but he will not answer.
20 Tens visto um homem arremessado nas suas palavras? maior esperança há dum tolo do que dele.
Hast thou seen a man hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.
21 Quando alguém cria delicadamente o seu servo desde a mocidade, por derradeiro quererá ser seu filho.
He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child, shall in the end have him as a son.
22 O homem iracundo levanta contendas; e o furioso multiplica as transgressões.
An angry man exciteth contention; and a furious man aboundeth in transgression.
23 A soberba do homem o abaterá, mas o humilde de espírito reterá a glória.
A man's pride bringeth him low; but the humble in spirit shall obtain honour.
24 O que tem parte com o ladrão aborrece a sua própria alma: ouve maldições, e não o denúncia.
Whoso shareth with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth the adjuration, and declareth not.
25 O temor do homem armará laços, mas o que confia no Senhor será posto em alto retiro.
The fear of man bringeth a snare; but whoso putteth his confidence in Jehovah is protected.
26 Muitos buscam a face do príncipe, mas o juízo de cada um vem do Senhor.
Many seek the ruler's face; but a man's right judgment is from Jehovah.
27 Abominação é para os justos o homem iníquo, mas abominação é para o ímpio o de retos caminhos.
An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous; and he that is of upright way is an abomination to the wicked [man].
