Provérbios 27
1 Não presumas do dia de amanhã, porque não sabes o que parirá o dia.
Boast not thyself of to-morrow, for thou knowest not what a day will bring forth.
2 Louve-te o estranho, e não a tua boca, o estrangeiro e não os teus lábios.
Let another praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.
3 Pesada é a pedra, e a areia é carregada; porém a ira do insensato é mais pesada do que elas ambas.
A stone is heavy, and the sand weighty; but a fool's vexation is heavier than them both.
4 Cruel é o furor e a impetuosa ira, mas quem parará perante a inveja?
Fury is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before jealousy?
5 Melhor é a repreensão aberta do que o amor encoberto.
Open rebuke is better than hidden love.
6 Fieis são as feridas feitas pelo que ama, mas os beijos do que aborrece são enganosos.
Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are profuse.
7 A alma farta piza o favo de mel, mas à alma faminta todo o amargo é doce.
The full soul trampleth on a honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.
8 Qual é a ave que vagueia do seu ninho, tal é o homem que anda vagueando do seu lugar.
As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so is a man that wandereth from his place.
9 O óleo e o perfume alegram o coração: assim a doença do amigo de alguém com o conselho cordial.
Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart; and the sweetness of one's friend is [the fruit] of hearty counsel.
10 Não deixes a teu amigo, nem ao amigo de teu pai, nem entres na casa de teu irmão no dia da tua adversidade: melhor é o vizinho de perto do que o irmão ao longe.
Thine own friend, and thy father's friend, forsake not; and go not into thy brother's house in the day of thy calamity: better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off.
11 Sê sábio, filho meu, e alegra o meu coração; para que tenha alguma coisa que responder àquele que me desprezar.
Be wise, my son, and make my heart glad, that I may have wherewith to answer him that reproacheth me.
12 O avisado vê o mal, e esconde-se; mas os simples passam e pagam a pena.
A prudent [man] seeth the evil, [and] hideth himself; the simple pass on, [and] are punished.
13 Quando alguém fica por fiador do estranho, toma-lhe tu a sua roupa; e o penhora pela estranha.
Take his garment that is become surety [for] another, and hold him in pledge for a strange woman.
14 O que bendiz ao seu amigo em alta voz, madrugando pela manhã, por maldição se lhe contará.
He that blesseth his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, it shall be reckoned a curse to him.
15 O gotejar contínuo no dia de grande chuva, e a mulher contenciosa, uma e outra são semelhantes.
A continual dropping on a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike:
16 Todos os que a esconderem esconderão o vento: e o óleo da sua dextra clama.
whosoever will restrain her restraineth the wind, and his right hand encountereth oil.
17 Como o ferro com o ferro se aguça, assim o homem aguça o rosto do seu amigo.
Iron is sharpened by iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
18 O que guarda a figueira comerá do seu fruto; e o que atenta para seu senhor, será honrado.
Whoso keepeth the fig-tree shall eat the fruit thereof; and he that guardeth his master shall be honoured.
19 Como na água o rosto corresponde ao rosto, assim o coração do homem ao homem.
As [in] water face [answereth] to face, so the heart of man to man.
20 Como o inferno e a perdição nunca se fartam, assim os olhos do homem nunca se fartam. (Sheol h7585)
Sheol and destruction are insatiable; so the eyes of man are never satisfied. (Sheol h7585)
21 Como o crisol é para a prata, e o forno para o ouro, assim se prova o homem pelos louvores.
The fining-pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold; so let a man be to the mouth that praiseth him.
22 Ainda quando pizares o tolo com uma mão de gral entre grãos de cevada pilada, não se irá dele a sua estultícia.
If thou shouldest bray a fool in a mortar among wheat with a pestle, yet will not his folly depart from him.
23 Procura conhecer o estado das tuas ovelhas: põe o teu coração sobre o gado.
Be well acquainted with the appearance of thy flocks; look well to thy herds:
24 Porque o tesouro não dura para sempre: ou durará a coroa de geração em geração?
for wealth is not for ever; and doth the crown [endure] from generation to generation?
25 Quando se mostrar a erva, e aparecerem os renovos, então ajunta as hervas dos montes.
The hay is removed, and the tender grass sheweth itself, and herbs of the mountains are gathered in.
26 Os cordeiros serão para te vestires, e os bodes para o preço do campo.
The lambs are for thy clothing, and the goats are the price of a field;
27 E a abastança do leite das cabras para o teu sustento, para sustento da tua casa, e para sustento das tuas criadas.
and there is goats' milk enough for thy food, for the food of thy household, and sustenance for thy maidens.
