Provérbios 13
1 O filho sábio ouve a correção do pai; mas o escarnecedor não ouve a repreensão.
A wise son listeneth to the instruction of his father; But a scoffer listeneth not to rebuke.
2 Do fruto da boca cada um comerá o bem, mas a alma dos prevaricadores comerá a violência.
By the fruit of a man's mouth he shall eat good; But the appetite of transgressors shall be sated with violence.
3 O que guarda a sua boca conserva a sua alma, mas o que dilata os seus lábios tem perturbação.
He who keepeth his mouth keepeth his life; But destruction shall be to him who openeth wide his lips.
4 A alma do preguiçoso deseja, e coisa nenhuma alcança, mas a alma dos diligentes se engorda.
The appetite of the sluggard longeth, and hath nothing; But the appetite of the diligent is fully satisfied.
5 O justo aborrece a palavra de mentira, mas o ímpio se faz vergonha, e se confunde.
A righteous man hateth words of falsehood; But a wicked man causeth disgrace and shame.
6 A justiça guarda ao sincero de caminho, mas a impiedade transtornará o pecador.
Righteousness preserveth him who is upright in his way; But wickedness overthroweth the sinner.
7 Há alguns que se fazem ricos, e não tem coisa nenhuma, e outros que se fazem pobres e tem muita fazenda.
There is who maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing, Who maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches.
8 O resgate da vida de cada um são as suas riquezas, mas o pobre não ouve as ameaças.
A man's wealth is the ransom of his life; But the poor man heareth no threatenings.
9 A luz dos justos alegra, mas a candeia dos ímpios se apagará.
The light of the righteous shall rejoice; But the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.
10 Da soberba só provém a contenda, mas com os que se aconselham se acha a sabedoria.
By pride cometh only contention; But with the well-advised is wisdom.
11 A fazenda que procede da vaidade se diminuirá, mas quem a ajunta com a mão a aumentará.
Wealth gotten by vanity will become small; But he who gathereth it into the hand increaseth it.
12 A esperança deferida enfraquece o coração, mas o desejo chegado é árvore de vida.
Hope deferred maketh the heart sick; But the desire accomplished is a tree of life.
13 O que despreza a palavra perecerá, mas o que teme o mandamento será galardoado.
He that despiseth the word shall be destroyed; But he who revereth the commandment shall be rewarded.
14 A doutrina do sábio é uma fonte de vida para se desviar dos laços da morte.
The instruction of the wise is a fountain of life; By it men escape from the snares of death.
15 O bom entendimento dá graça, mas o caminho dos prevaricadores é áspero.
A good understanding winneth favor; But the way of transgressors is hard.
16 Todo o prudente obra com conhecimento, mas o tolo espraia a sua loucura.
Every prudent man acteth with knowledge; But a fool spreadeth abroad his folly.
17 O ímpio mensageiro cai no mal, mas o embaixador fiel é saúde.
A wicked messenger falleth into trouble; But a faithful ambassador is health.
18 Pobreza e afronta virão ao que rejeita a correção, mas o que guarda a repreensão será venerado.
Poverty and shame are for him who rejecteth instruction; But he that regardeth reproof shall come to honor.
19 O desejo que se cumpre deleita a alma, mas apartar-se do mal é abominável para os loucos.
The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul; But it is an abomination to fools to depart from evil.
20 O que anda com os sábios, ficará sábio, mas o companheiro dos tolos sofrerá severamente.
He who walketh with wise men shall be wise; But the companion of fools shall be destroyed.
21 O mal perseguirá aos pecadores, mas os justos serão galardoados com bem.
Calamity pursueth the wicked; But the righteous is rewarded with good.
22 O homem de bem deixa uma herança aos filhos de seus filhos, mas a fazenda do pecador se deposita para o justo.
The good man leaveth his substance to his children's children; But the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.
23 A lavoura dos pobres dá abundância de mantimento, mas alguns há que se consomem por falta de juízo.
There is much food from the fallow-ground of the poor; But there is who is brought low for want of uprightness.
24 O que retém a sua vara aborrece a seu filho, mas o que o ama madruga a castiga-lo.
He that spareth the rod hateth his son; But he who loveth him chasteneth him early.
25 O justo come até fartar-se a sua alma, mas o ventre dos ímpios terá necessidade.
The righteous man eateth to the satisfying of his desire; But the stomach of the wicked suffereth want.
