Números 24
1 Vendo Balaão que bem parecia aos olhos do Senhor que abençoasse a Israel, não se foi esta vez como de antes ao encontro dos encantamentos: mas pôs o seu rosto para o deserto.
And Balaam saw that it was good in the sight of Jehovah to bless Israel, and he went not, as at other times, to seek for enchantments, but he set his face toward the wilderness.
2 E, levantando Balaão os seus olhos, e vendo a Israel, que habitava segundo as suas tribos, veio sobre ele o espírito de Deus.
And Balaam lifted up his eyes and saw Israel dwelling [in tents] according to his tribes; and the Spirit of God came upon him.
3 E alçou a sua parábola, e disse: fala, Balaão, filho de Beor, e fala o homem de olhos abertos;
And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor saith, and the man of opened eye saith,
4 Fala aquele que ouviu os ditos de Deus, o que vê a visão do Todo-poderoso caído em extasis e de olhos abertos:
He saith, who heareth the words of God, who seeth the vision of the Almighty, who falleth down, and who hath his eyes open:
5 Que boas são as tuas tendas, ó Jacob! as tuas moradas ó Israel.
How goodly are thy tents, Jacob, and thy tabernacles, Israel!
6 Como ribeiros se estendam, como jardins ao pé dos rios: como árvores de sândalo o Senhor os plantou, como cedros junto às águas,
Like valleys are they spread forth, like gardens by the river side, Like aloe-trees which Jehovah hath planted, like cedars beside the waters.
7 De seus baldes manarão águas, e a sua semente estará em muitas águas: e o seu rei se exalçará mais do que Agag, e o seu reino será levantado.
Water shall flow out of his buckets, and his seed shall be in great waters, And his king shall be higher than Agag, and his kingdom shall be exalted.
8 Deus o tirou do Egito; as suas forças são como as do unicórnio: consumirá as gentes, seus inimigos, e quebrará seus ossos, e com as suas setas os atravessará.
God brought him out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of a buffalo. He shall consume the nations his enemies, and break their bones, and with his arrows shall smite [them] in pieces.
9 Encurvou-se, deitou-se como leão, e como leoa: quem o despertará? benditos os que te abençoarem, e malditos os que te amaldiçoarem.
He stooped, he lay down like a lion, and like a lioness: who will stir him up? Blessed is he that blesseth thee, and cursed is he that curseth thee.
10 Então a ira de Balac se acendeu contra Balaão, e bateu ele as suas palmas: e Balac disse a Balaão: Para amaldiçoar os meus inimigos te tenho chamado; porém agora já três vezes os abençoaste inteiramente.
Then Balak's anger was kindled against Balaam, and he smote his hands together; and Balak said to Balaam, I called thee to curse mine enemies, and behold, thou hast altogether blessed [them] these three times!
11 Agora pois foge para o ten lugar: eu tinha dito que te honraria grandemente; mas eis que o Senhor te privou desta honra.
And now flee thou to thy place; I said I would very highly honour thee, and behold, Jehovah has kept thee back from honour.
12 Então Balaão disse a Balac: Não falei eu também aos teus mensageiros, que me enviaste, dizendo:
And Balaam said to Balak, Did I not also speak to thy messengers whom thou sentest to me, saying,
13 Ainda que Balac me desse a sua casa cheia de prata e ouro, não posso traspassar o mandado do Senhor, fazendo bem ou mal de meu próprio coração: o que o Senhor falar, isso falarei eu.
If Balak gave me his house full of silver and gold, I could not go beyond the commandment of Jehovah to do good or bad out of my heart: what Jehovah shall say, that will I speak?
14 Agora pois eis que me vou ao meu povo: vem, avisar-te-ei do que este povo fará ao teu povo nos últimos dias.
And now behold, I go to my people: come, I will admonish thee what this people will do to thy people at the end of days.
15 Então alçou a sua parábola, e disse: fala Balaão, filho de Beor, e fala o homem de olhos abertos;
And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor saith, and the man of opened eye saith,
16 Fala aquele que ouviu os ditos de Deus, e o que sabe a ciência do altíssimo: o que viu a visão do Todo Poderoso, caído em extasis, e de olhos abertos:
He saith, who heareth the words of God, who knoweth the knowledge of the Most High, Who seeth the vision of the Almighty, who falleth down, and who hath his eyes open:
17 Ve-lo-ei, mas não agora contemplá-lo-ei mas não de perto: uma estrela procederá de Jacob, e um cetro subirá de Israel, que ferirá os termos dos moabitas, e destruirá todos os filhos de Seth.
I shall see him, but not now; I shall behold him, but not nigh: There cometh a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and he shall cut in pieces the corners of Moab, and destroy all the sons of tumult.
18 E Edom será uma possessão, e Seir também será uma possessão hereditária para os seus inimigos: pois Israel fará proezas.
And Edom shall be a possession, and Seir a possession, — they, his enemies; but Israel will do valiantly.
19 E dominará um de Jacob, e matará os que restam das cidades.
And one out of Jacob shall have dominion, and will destroy out of the city what remaineth.
20 E vendo os amalequitas, alçou a sua parábola, e disse: Amalek é o primeiro das gentes; porém o seu fim será para perdição.
And he saw Amalek, and took up his parable, and said, Amalek is the first of the nations, but his latter end shall be for destruction.
21 E vendo os quenitas, alçou a sua parábola, e disse: Firme está a tua habitação, e puseste o teu ninho na penha.
And he saw the Kenites, and took up his parable, and said, Firm is thy dwelling-place, and thy nest fixed in the rock;
22 Todavia o quenita será consumido, até que Assur te leve por prisioneiro.
But the Kenite shall be consumed, until Asshur shall carry thee away captive.
23 E, alçando ainda a sua parábola, disse: Ai, quem viverá, quando Deus fizer isto?
And he took up his parable, and said, Alas! Who shall live when God doeth this?
24 E as naus das costas de Chittim afligirão a Assur; também afligirão a Eber; e também ele será para perdição.
And ships shall come from the coast of Chittim, and afflict Asshur, and afflict Eber, and he also shall be for destruction.
25 Então Balaão levantou-se, e foi-se, e voltou ao seu lugar, e também Balac foi-se pelo seu caminho.
And Balaam rose up, and went and returned to his place; and Balak also went his way.
