1 Carga de Nínive. Livro da visão de Nahum, o elcoshita.
An oracle about Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite.
2 O Senhor é Deus zeloso e que toma vingança, o Senhor toma vingança e tem furor: o Senhor toma vingança contra os seus adversários, e guarda a ira contra os seus inimigos.
YHWH is a jealous God and avenges. YHWH avenges and is full of wrath. YHWH takes vengeance on his adversaries, and he maintains wrath against his enemies.
3 O Senhor é tardio em irar-se, porém grande em força, e ao culpado não tem por inocente: o Senhor, cujo caminho é na tormenta, e na tempestade, e as nuvens são o pó dos seus pés.
YHWH is slow to anger, and great in power, and will by no means leave the guilty unpunished. YHWH has his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.
4 Ele repreende ao mar, e o faz secar, e esgota todos os rios: desfalecem Basan e Carmelo, e a flor do líbano se murchou.
He rebukes the sea, and makes it dry, and dries up all the rivers. Bashan languishes, and Carmel; and the flower of Lebanon languishes.
5 Os montes tremem perante ele, e os outeiros se derretem; e a terra se levanta na sua presença; e o mundo, e todos os que nele habitam.
The mountains quake before him, and the hills melt away. The earth trembles at his presence, yes, the world, and all who dwell in it.
6 Quem parará diante do seu furor? e quem persistirá diante do ardor da sua ira? a sua colera se derramou como um fogo, e as rochas foram por ele derribadas.
Who can stand before his indignation? Who can endure the fierceness of his anger? His wrath is poured out like fire, and the rocks are broken apart by him.
7 O Senhor é bom, ele serve de fortaleza no dia da angústia, e conhece aos que confiam nele.
YHWH is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and he knows those who take refuge in him.
8 E com uma inundação trasbordante acabará de uma vez com o seu lugar; e as trevas perseguirão os seus inimigos.
But with an overflowing flood, he will make a full end of her place, and will pursue his enemies into darkness.
9 Que pensais vós contra o Senhor? ele mesmo vos consumirá de todo: não se levantará por duas vezes a angústia.
What do you plot against YHWH? He will make a full end. Affliction won't rise up the second time.
10 Porque eles se entrelaçam como os espinhos, e se embebedam como bêbados; serão inteiramente consumidos como palha seca.
For entangled like thorns, and drunk as with their drink, they are consumed utterly like dry stubble.
11 De ti saiu um que pensou mal contra o Senhor, um conselheiro de Belial.
There is one gone forth out of you, who devises evil against YHWH, who counsels wickedness.
12 Assim diz o Senhor: Por mais seguros que estejam, e por mais numerosos que sejam, ainda assim serão tosquiados, e ele passará: eu te afligi, porém não te afligirei mais.
Thus says YHWH: "Though they be in full strength, and likewise many, even so they will be cut down, and he shall pass away. Though I have afflicted you, I will afflict you no more.
13 Mas agora quebrarei o seu jugo de sobre ti, e romperei os teus laços.
Now will I break his yoke from off you, and will burst your bonds apart."
14 Porém contra ti o Senhor deu ordem, que mais ninguém do teu nome seja semeado: da casa do teu deus exterminarei as imagens de escultura e de fundição: ali te farei o teu sepulcro, porque és vil
YHWH has commanded concerning you: "No more descendants will bear your name. Out of the house of your gods, will I cut off the engraved image and the molten image. I will make your grave, for you are vile."
15 Eis que sobre os montes os pés do que traz as boas novas, do que anuncia a paz! celebra as tuas festas, ó Judá, cumpre os teus votos, porque o ímpio não tornará mais a passar por ti: ele é inteiramente exterminado.
Look, on the mountains the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace. Keep your feasts, Judah. Perform your vows, for the wicked one will no more pass through you. He is utterly cut off.
