Mateus 5
1 E Jesus, vendo a multidão, subiu a um monte, e, assentando-se, aproximaram-se dele os seus discípulos:
And seeing the multitudes, he ascended a mountain: and when he was seated, his disciples came to him.
2 E, abrindo a sua boca, os ensinava, dizendo:
And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,
3 Bem-aventurados os pobres de espírito, porque deles é o reino dos céus;
Blessed [are] the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Bem-aventurados os que choram, porque eles serão consolados;
Blessed [are] they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
5 Bem-aventurados os mansos, porque eles herdarão a terra;
Blessed [are] the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
6 Bem-aventurados os que tem fome e sede de justiça, porque eles serão fartos;
Blessed [are] they who hunger and thirst for righteousness: for they shall be filled.
7 Bem-aventurados os misericordiosos, porque eles alcançarão misericórdia;
Blessed [are] the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
8 Bem-aventurados os limpos de coração, porque eles verão a Deus;
Blessed [are] the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
9 Bem-aventurados os pacificadores, porque eles serão chamados filhos de Deus;
Blessed [are] the peace-makers: for they shall be called children of God.
10 Bem-aventurados os que sofrem perseguição por causa da justiça, porque deles é o reino dos céus;
Blessed [are] they who are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 Bem-aventurados sois vós, quando vos injuriarem e perseguirem, e, mentindo, falarem todo o mal contra vós por minha causa.
Blessed are ye when men shall revile you, and persecute [you], and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
12 Exultai e alegrai-vos, porque é grande o vosso galardão nos céus; porque assim perseguiram os profetas que foram antes de vós.
Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great [is] your reward in heaven: for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
13 Vós sois o sal da terra; e se o sal for insípido, com que se há de salgar? para nada mais presta senão para se lançar fora, e ser pisado pelos homens.
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt hath lost its savor, with what shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot by men.
14 Vós sois a luz do mundo: não se pode esconder uma cidade edificada sobre um monte, -
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.
15 Nem se acende a candeia e se coloca debaixo do alqueire, mas no velador, e dá luz a todos que estão na casa.
Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a close vessel, but on a candlestick: and it giveth light to all that are in the house.
16 Assim resplandeça a vossa luz diante dos homens, para que vejam as vossas boas obras, e glorifiquem a vosso Pai, que está nos céus.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
17 Não cuideis que vim destruir a lei ou os profetas: não vim a derrogar, mas a cumprir.
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.
18 Porque em verdade vos digo, que, até que o céu e a terra passem, nem um jota nem um só til se omitirá da lei, sem que tudo seja cumprido.
For verily I say to you, Till heaven and earth shall pass away, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
19 Qualquer pois que violar um destes mais pequenos mandamentos, e assim ensinar aos homens, será chamado o menor no reino dos céus; aquele, porém, que os cumprir e ensinar será chamado grande no reino dos céus.
Whoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whoever shall do, and teach [them], the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
20 Porque vos digo que, se a vossa justiça não exceder a dos escribas e fariseus, de modo nenhum entrareis no reino dos céus.
For I say to you, That except your righteousness shall exceed [the righteousness] of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
21 Ouvistes que foi dito aos antigos: Não matarás; mas qualquer que matar será réu de juízo.
Ye have heard that it was said to them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whoever shall kill, shall be in danger of the judgment:
22 Eu vos digo, porém, que qualquer que, sem motivo, se encolerizar contra seu irmão, será réu de juízo; e qualquer que disser a seu irmão: Raca, será réu do sinédrio; qualquer que lhe disser: Louco, será réu do fogo do inferno. (Geenna g1067)
But I say to you, That whoever is angry with his brother without a cause, shall be in danger of the judgment: and whoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell-fire. (Geenna g1067)
23 Portanto, se trouxeres a tua oferta ao altar, e ai te lembrares de que teu irmão tem alguma coisa contra ti,
Therefore if thou shalt bring thy gift to the altar, and there remember that thy brother hath aught against thee;
24 Deixa ali diante do altar a tua oferta, e vai, reconcilia-te primeiro com teu irmão, e depois vem e apresenta a tua oferta.
Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
25 Concilia-te depressa com o teu adversário, enquanto estás no caminho com ele, para que não aconteça que o adversário te entregue ao juiz, e o juiz te entregue ao ministro, e te encerrem na prisão.
Agree with thy adversary quickly, while thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.
26 Em verdade te digo que de maneira nenhuma sairás dali enquanto não pagares o último ceitil.
Verily, I say to thee, thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.
27 Ouvistes que foi dito aos antigos: Não cometerás adultério.
Ye have heard that it was said to them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
28 Eu vos digo, porém, que qualquer que atentar numa mulher para a cobiçar, já em seu coração cometeu adultério com ela
But I say to you, That whoever looketh on a woman to lust after her, hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
29 Portanto, se o teu olho direito te escandalizar, arranca-o e atira-o para longe de ti, pois te é melhor que se perca um dos teus membros, do que todo o teu corpo seja lançado no inferno. (Geenna g1067)
And if thy right eye shall cause thee to sin, pluck it out, and cast [it] from thee: for [it] is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not [that] thy whole body should be cast into hell. (Geenna g1067)
30 E, se a tua mão direita te escandalizar, corta-a e atira-a para longe de ti, porque te é melhor que um dos teus membros se perca, do que todo o teu corpo seja lançado no inferno. (Geenna g1067)
And if thy right hand shall cause thee to sin, cut it off, and cast [it] from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not [that] thy whole body should be cast into hell. (Geenna g1067)
31 Também foi dito: Qualquer que deixar sua mulher, dê-lhe carta de desquite.
It hath been said, Whoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:
32 Eu, porém, vos digo que qualquer que repudiar sua mulher, sem ser por causa de fornicação, faz que ela cometa adultério, e qualquer que casar com a repudiada comete adultério.
But I say to you, That whoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of lewdness, causeth her to commit adultery: and whoever shall marry her that is divorced, committeth adultery.
33 Outrossim, ouvistes que foi dito aos antigos: Não perjurarás, mas cumprirás teus juramentos ao Senhor.
Again, ye have heard that it hath been said to them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform to the Lord thy oaths:
34 Eu vos digo, porém, que de maneira nenhuma jureis: nem pelo céu, porque é o trono de Deus;
But I say to you, Swear not at all: neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:
35 Nem pela terra, porque é o escabelo de seus pés; nem por Jerusalém, porque é a cidade do grande Rei;
Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King,
36 Nem jurarás pela tua cabeça, porque não podes fazer um cabelo branco ou preto.
Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.
37 Seja, porém, o vosso falar: Sim, sim, Não, não, porque o que passa disto é de procedência maligna.
But let your communication be, Yea, yea, Nay, nay: for whatever [is] more than these cometh of evil.
38 Ouvistes que foi dito: Olho por olho, e dente por dente.
Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.
39 Eu vos digo, porém, que não resistais ao mal; mas, se qualquer te bater na face direita, oferece-lhe também a outra;
But I say to you, That ye resist not evil: but whoever shall strike thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
40 E ao que quizer pleitear contigo, e tirar-te o vestido, larga-lhe também a capa;
And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have [thy] cloke also.
41 E, se qualquer te obrigar a caminhar uma milha, vai com ele duas.
And whoever shall constrain thee [to go] one mile, go with him two.
42 Dá a quem te pedir, e não te desvies daquele que quizer que lhe emprestes.
Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee, turn not thou away.
43 Ouvistes que foi dito: Amarás o teu próximo, e aborrecerás o teu inimigo.
Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thy enemy:
44 Eu vos digo, porém: amai a vossos inimigos, bendizei os que vos maldizem, fazei bem aos que vos odeiam, e orai pelos que vos maltratam e vos perseguem;
But I say to you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them who despitefully use you, and persecute you;
45 Para que sejais filhos do vosso Pai que está nos céus; porque faz que o seu sol se levante sobre os maus e os bons, e a chuva desça sobre os justos e os injustos.
That ye may be the children of your Father who [is] in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
46 Pois, se amardes os que vos amam, que galardão havereis? não fazem os publicanos também o mesmo?
For if ye love them who love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
47 E, se saudardes unicamente os vossos irmãos, que fazeis de mais? não fazem os publicanos também assim?
And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more [than others]? do not even the publicans so?
48 Sede vós pois perfeitos, como é perfeito o vosso Pai que está nos céus.
Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father who is in heaven is perfect.
