Mateus 18

1 Naquela mesma hora chegaram os discípulos ao pé de Jesus, dizendo: Quem é o maior no reino dos céus?

AT that time came the disciples to Jesus, saying, Who is indeed the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?

2 E Jesus, chamando um menino, o pôs no meio deles,

And Jesus calling a little boy, set him in the midst of them,

3 E disse: Em verdade vos digo que, se não vos converterdes e não vos fizerdes como meninos, de modo algum entrareis no reino dos céus.

and said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be changed and be as little children, ye shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of heaven.

4 Portanto, aquele que se humilhar como este menino, este é o maior no reino dos céus.

Whosoever therefore shall humble himself, as this little child, he shall be greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

5 E qualquer que receber em meu nome um menino tal como este a mim me recebe.

And whosoever shall receive one such little child in my name, receiveth me.

6 Mas qualquer que escandalizar um destes pequeninos, que crêem em mim, melhor lhe fôra que se lhe pendurasse ao pescoço uma mó de atafona, e se submergisse na profundeza do mar

And whosoever shall cause one of these little ones, who believe in me, to stumble, it were better for him that a millstone was hung at his neck, and that he was sunk in the depth of the sea.

7 Ai do mundo, por causa dos escândalos; porque é míster que venham escândalos, mas ai daquele homem por quem o escândalo vem!

Wo to the world because of offences! for there is a necessity that offences come: nevertheless, wo to that man by whom the offence cometh!

8 Portanto, se a tua mão ou o teu pé te escandalizar, corta-o, e atira-o para longe de ti: melhor te é entrar na vida coxo, ou aleijado, do que, tendo duas mãos ou dois pés, ser lançado no fogo eterno (aiōnios g166)

If then thy hand, or thy foot, lead thee to offend, cut them off, and cast them from thee: for it were better for thee to enter into life, halting or maimed, than having two hands or two feet to be cast into the fire, which is eternal. (aiōnios g166)

9 E, se o teu olho te escandalizar, arranca-o, e atira-o para longe de ti. Melhor te é entrar na vida com um só olho, do que, tendo dois olhos, ser lançado no fogo do inferno. (Geenna g1067)

And if thine eye lead thee to offend, pluck it out and cast it from thee, for it were better for thee to enter into life with one eye only, than having two eyes to be cast into hell-fire. (Geenna g1067)

10 Olhai, não desprezeis algum destes pequeninos, porque eu vos digo que os seus anjos nos céus sempre veem a face de meu Pai que está nos céus.

See that ye despise not one of these little ones, for I say unto you, That their angels in heaven continually behold the face of my Father who is in heaven.

11 Porque o Filho do homem veio salvar o que se tinha perdido.

For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.

12 Que vos parece? Se algum homem tiver cem ovelhas, e uma delas se desgarrar, não irá pelos montes, deixando as noventa e nove, em busca da que se desgarrou?

What think you? If a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them stray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine in the mountains, and go and seek that which had strayed?

13 E, se porventura a encontra, em verdade vos digo que maior prazer tem por aquela do que pelas noventa e nove que se não desgarraram.

And if he happen to find it, verily I say unto you, that he rejoiceth over it more than over the ninety and nine which never went astray.

14 Assim também não é vontade de vosso Pai, que está nos céus, que um destes pequeninos se perca.

Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven, that one of these little ones perish.

15 Ora, se teu irmão pecar contra ti, vai, e repreende-o entre ti e ele só; se te ouvir, ganhaste a teu irmão;

Now if thy brother sin against thee, go and reprove him between thyself and him alone; if he hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.

16 Se te não ouvir, porém, leva ainda contigo um ou dois, para que pela boca de duas ou três testemunhas toda a palavra seja confirmada.

But if he will not hear thee, take with thee one or two more, that by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be confirmed.

17 E, se os não escutar, dize-o à igreja; e, se também não escutar a igreja, considera-o como um gentio e publicano.

But if he disregard them, inform the church: and if he disregard the church, let him be to thee as a heathen, or a publican.

18 Em verdade vos digo que tudo o que ligardes na terra será ligado no céu, e tudo o que desligardes na terra será desligado no céu.

Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever things ye shall bind on earth, shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever things ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

19 Também vos digo que, se dois de vós concordarem na terra acerca de qualquer coisa que pedirem, isso lhes será feito por meu Pai, que está nos céus.

Again I say unto you, That if two of you are concurring upon earth, respecting any matter, which ye shall ask, it shall be done for them by my Father who is in heaven.

20 Porque onde estiverem dois ou três reunidos em meu nome, ai estou eu no meio deles.

For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

21 Então Pedro, aproximando-se dele, disse: Senhor, até quantas vezes pecará meu irmão contra mim, e eu lhe perdoarei? Até sete

Then Peter coming to him, said, Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?

22 Jesus lhe disse: Não te digo: Até sete, mas, até setenta vezes sete.

Jesus saith to him, I tell thee not until seven times, but unto seventy times seven.

23 Por isso o reino dos céus pode comparar-se a um certo rei que quis fazer contas com os seus servos;

Therefore is the kingdom of heaven like unto a certain king who purposed to settle his account with his servants.

24 E, começando a fazer contas, foi-lhe apresentado um que lhe devia dez mil talentos;

And when he began to make up the account, there was brought to him one debtor, ten thousand talents in arrear:

25 E, não tendo ele com que pagar, o seu senhor mandou vendê-lo, e a sua mulher e filhos, com tudo quanto tinha, para que a dívida se lhe pagasse.

but not having wherewithal to pay, his lord ordered him to be sold, and his wife and his children, and all things whatsoever he possessed, and payment to be made.

26 Então aquele servo, prostrando-se, o adorava, dizendo: Senhor, sê generoso para comigo, e tudo te pagarei.

Then that servant falling prostrate, paid him the most profound homage, saying, Lord, have forbearance with me, and I will pay thee all.

27 Então o senhor daquele servo, movido de intima compaixão, soltou-o, e perdoou-lhe a dívida.

Then his lord, moved with compassion towards that servant, discharged him, and forgave him the debt.

28 Saindo, porém, aquele servo, encontrou um dos seus conservos, que lhe devia cem dinheiros, e, lançando mão dele, sufocava-o, dizendo: Paga-me o que me deves.

But that servant going out, found one of his fellow-servants, who owed him a hundred denarii, and seizing, throttled him, saying, Pay me what thou owest.

29 Então o seu conservo, prostrando-se aos seus pés rogava-lhe, dizendo: Sê generoso para comigo, e tudo te pagarei.

Then his fellow-servant fell at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have forbearance with me, and I will pay thee all.

30 Ele, porém, não quis, antes foi encerra-lo na prisão, até que pagasse a dívida.

And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay what he owed.

31 Vendo pois os seus conservos o que acontecia, contristaram-se muito, e foram declarar ao seu senhor tudo o que se passára.

Then his fellow-servants, when they saw what was done, were exceedingly sorry, and came to their lord, and gave him an explicit account of all things that had passed.

32 Então o seu senhor, chamando-o à sua presença, disse-lhe: Servo malvado, perdoei-te toda aquela dívida, porque me suplicaste:

Then his lord, calling him before him, said to him, Thou vile slave! all that debt I forgave thee, because thou besoughtest me:

33 Não devias tu igualmente ter compaixão do teu companheiro, como eu também tive misericórdia de ti?

and oughtest thou not to have had compassion on thy fellow-servant, even as I had pity on thee?

34 E, indignado, o seu senhor o entregou aos atormentadores, até que pagasse tudo o que devia.

And his lord, incensed, delivered him up to the torturers, till he should pay all that he owed him.

35 Assim vos fará também meu Pai celestial, se do coração não perdoardes, cada um a seu irmão, as suas ofensas.

Even so also will my heavenly Father do to you, except ye forgive every one of you his brother, from your hearts, their trespasses.
