Lucas 1
1 Tendo pois muitos empreendido pôr em ordem a narração das coisas que entre nós se cumpriram,
Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us,
2 Segundo nos transmitiram os mesmos que as viram desde o princípio, e foram ministros da palavra,
Even as they delivered them to us, who from the beginning were eye-witnesses, and ministers of the word;
3 Pareceu-me também a mim conveniente escreve-las a ti, ó excelente Theophilo, por sua ordem, havendo-me já informado minuciosamente de tudo desde o princípio;
It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write to thee in order, most excellent Theophilus,
4 Para que conheças a certeza das coisas de que já estás informado.
That thou mayest know the certainty of those things in which thou hast been instructed.
5 Existiu, no tempo de Herodes, rei da Judeia, um sacerdote chamado Zacarias, da ordem de Abias, e cuja mulher era das filhas de Aarão; e o seu nome era Isabel.
There was in the days of Herod the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife [was] of the daughters of Aaron, and her name [was] Elisabeth.
6 E eram ambos justos perante Deus, andando sem repreensão em todos os mandamentos e preceitos do Senhor.
And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.
7 E não tinham filhos, porquanto Isabel era estéril, e ambos eram avançados em idade.
And they had no child, because Elisabeth was barren, and they both were far advanced in years.
8 E aconteceu que, exercendo ele o sacerdócio diante de Deus, na ordem da sua turma,
And it came to pass, that, while he executed the priests' office before God in the order of his course,
9 Segundo o costume sacerdotal, coube-lhe em sorte entrar no templo do Senhor a oferecer o incenso.
According to the custom of the priests' office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord.
10 E toda a multidão do povo estava fora, orando à hora do incenso,
And the whole multitude of the people were praying without, at the time of incense.
11 E um anjo do Senhor lhe apareceu, posto em pé, à direita do altar do incenso.
And there appeared to him an angel of the Lord, standing on the right side of the altar of incense.
12 E Zacarias, vendo-o, turbou-se, e caiu temor sobre ele.
And when Zacharias saw [him], he was troubled, and fear fell upon him.
13 Mas o anjo lhe disse: Zacarias, não temas, porque a tua oração foi ouvida, e Isabel, tua mulher, dará à luz um filho, e lhe porás o nome de João;
But the angel said to him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.
14 E terás prazer e alegria, e muitos se alegrarão no seu nascimento;
And thou shalt have joy and gladness, and many shall rejoice at his birth.
15 Porque será grande diante do Senhor, e não beberá vinho, nem bebida forte, e será cheio do Espírito Santo, até desde o ventre de sua mãe;
For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb.
16 E converterá muitos dos filhos de Israel ao Senhor seu Deus;
And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God.
17 E irá adiante dele no espírito e virtude de Elias, para converter os corações dos pais aos filhos, e os rebeldes à prudência dos justos; para preparar ao Senhor um povo bem disposto.
And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.
18 Disse então Zacarias ao anjo: Como conhecerei isto? pois eu já sou velho, e minha mulher avançada em idade.
And Zacharias said to the angel, By what shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife far advanced in years.
19 E, respondendo o anjo, disse-lhe: Eu sou Gabriel, que assisto diante de Deus, e fui enviado a falar-te e dar-te estas alegres novas;
And the angel answering, said to him, I am Gabriel, who stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak to thee, and to show thee these glad tidings.
20 E eis que ficarás mudo, e não poderás falar até ao dia em que estas coisas aconteçam; porquanto não creeste nas minhas palavras, que a seu tempo se hão de cumprir
And behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words which shall be fulfilled in their season.
21 E o povo estava esperando a Zacarias, e maravilhavam-se de que tanto se demorasse no templo.
And the people waited for Zacharias, and marveled that he tarried so long in the temple.
22 E, saindo ele, não lhes podia falar; e entenderam que tinha visto alguma visão no templo. E falava por acenos, e ficou mudo.
And when he came out, he could not speak to them: and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple; for he beckoned to them, and remained speechless.
23 E sucedeu que, terminados os dias do seu ministério, voltou para sua casa.
And it came to pass, that as soon as the days of his ministration were accomplished, he departed to his own house.
24 E depois daqueles dias Isabel, sua mulher, concebeu, e por cinco meses se ocultou, dizendo:
And after those days his wife Elisabeth conceived, and secluded herself five months, saying,
25 Porque isto me fez o Senhor, nos dias em que atentou em mim, para destruir o meu opróbrio entre os homens.
Thus hath the Lord dealt with me in the days in which he looked on [me], to take away my reproach among men.
26 E, no sexto mes, foi o anjo Gabriel enviado por Deus a uma cidade da Galiléia, chamada Nazareth,
And in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,
27 A uma virgem desposada com um varão, cujo nome era José, da casa de David; e o nome da virgem era Maria.
To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name [was] Mary.
28 E, entrando o anjo aonde ela estava, disse: Salve, agraciada; o Senhor é contigo: bendita tu entre as mulheres.
And the angel came to her, and said, Hail, [thou that art] highly favored, the Lord [is] with thee: blessed [art] thou among women.
29 E, vendo-o ela, turbou-se muito das suas palavras, e considerava que saudação seria esta.
And when she saw [him], she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.
30 Disse-lhe então o anjo: Maria, não temas, porque achaste graça diante de Deus;
And the angel said to her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favor with God.
31 E eis que em teu ventre conceberás, e darás à luz um filho, e pôr-lhe-as o nome de Jesus.
And behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
32 Este será grande, e será chamado filho do altíssimo; e o Senhor Deus lhe dará o trono de David, seu pai;
He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David.
And he will reign over the house of Jacob for ever, and of his kingdom there will be no end. (aiōn g165)
34 E disse Maria ao anjo: Como se fará isto? pois não conheço varão.
Then said Mary to the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?
35 E, respondendo o anjo, disse-lhe: Descerá sobre ti o Espírito Santo, e a virtude do altíssimo te cobrirá com a sua sombra; pelo que também o Santo, que de ti há de nascer, será chamado Filho de Deus.
And the angel answered and said to her, The Holy Spirit will come upon thee, and the power of the Highest will overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
36 E eis que também Isabel, tua prima, concebeu um filho em sua velhice; e é este o sexto mês para aquela que era chamada estéril;
And behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren:
37 Porque para Deus nada será impossível.
For with God nothing will be impossible.
38 Disse então Maria: Eis aqui a serva do Senhor; cumpra-se em mim segundo a tua palavra. E o anjo ausentou-se dela.
And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord, be it to me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.
39 E naqueles dias, levantando-se Maria, foi apressada às montanhas, a uma cidade de Juda,
And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill-country with haste, into a city of Judah,
40 E entrou em casa de Zacarias, e saudou a Isabel.
And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth.
41 E aconteceu que, ao ouvir Isabel a saudação de Maria, a criancinha saltou no seu ventre; e Isabel foi cheia do Espírito Santo,
And it came to pass, that when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb: and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
42 E exclamou com grande voz, e disse: bendita tu entre as mulheres, e bendito o fruto do teu ventre.
And she spoke with a loud voice, and said, Blessed [art] thou among women, and blessed [is] the fruit of thy womb.
43 E de onde me provém isto a mim, que a mãe do meu Senhor venha a mim?
And whence [is] this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
44 Pois eis que, ao chegar aos meus ouvidos a voz da tua saudação, a criancinha saltou de alegria no meu ventre;
For lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in my ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.
45 E benaventurada a que creu, pois hão de cumprir-se as coisas que da parte do Senhor lhe foram ditas.
And blessed [is] she that believed that there will be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.
46 Disse então Maria: A minha alma engrandece ao Senhor,
And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,
47 E o meu espírito se alegra em Deus meu Salvador;
And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior.
48 Porque atentou na baixeza de sua serva; pois eis que desde agora todas as gerações me chamarão benaventurada:
For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for behold, from henceforth all generations will call me blessed.
49 Porque me fez grandes coisas o Poderoso; e santo é o seu nome.
For he that is mighty hath done to me great things, and holy [is] his name.
50 E a sua misericórdia é de geração em geração sobre os que o temem.
And his mercy [is] on them that fear him, from generation to generation.
51 Com o seu braço obrou valorosamente: dissipou os soberbos no pensamento de seus corações.
He hath shown strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
52 Depôs dos tronos os poderosos, e elevou os humildes.
He hath put down the mighty from [their] seats, and exalted them of low degree.
53 Encheu de bens os famintos, e despediu vazios os ricos.
He hath filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he hath sent away empty.
54 Auxiliou a Israel seu servo, recordando-se da sua misericórdia;
He hath sustained his servant Israel, in remembrance of [his] mercy;
As he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed for ever. (aiōn g165)
56 E Maria ficou com ela quase três meses, e depois voltou para sua casa.
And Mary abode with her about three months, and returned to her own house.
57 E completou-se para Isabel o tempo de dar à luz, e teve um filho.
Now Elisabeth's full time came that she should be delivered; and she brought forth a son.
58 E os seus vizinhos e parentes ouviram que tinha Deus usado para com ela de grande misericórdia, e alegraram-se com ela.
And her neighbors and her cousins heard that the Lord had shown great mercy upon her; and they rejoiced with her.
59 E aconteceu que, ao oitavo dia, vieram circuncidar o menino, e lhe chamavam Zacarias, do nome de seu pai.
And it came to pass, that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child; and they called him Zacharias, after the name of his father.
60 E, respondendo sua mãe, disse: Não, porém será chamado João.
And his mother answered and said, Not [so]; but he shall be called John.
61 E disseram-lhe: ninguém há na tua parentela que se chame por este nome.
And they said to her, There is none of thy kindred that is called by this name.
62 E perguntaram por acenos ao pai como queria que lhe chamassem.
And they made signs to his father, how he would have him called.
63 E, pedindo ele uma taboinha de escrever, escreveu, dizendo: O seu nome é João. E todos se maravilharam.
And he asked for a writing-table, and wrote, saying, His name is John. And they all wondered.
64 E logo a boca se lhe abriu, e a língua se lhe soltou; e falava, louvando a Deus.
And his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue [loosed], and he spoke, and praised God.
65 E veio temor sobre todos os seus circunvizinhos, e em todas as montanhas da Judeia foram divulgadas todas estas coisas.
And fear came on all that dwelt around them; and all these sayings were noised abroad throughout all the hill-country of Judea.
66 E todos os que as ouviam as conservavam em seus corações, dizendo: Quem será pois este menino? E a mão do Senhor estava com ele.
And all they that had heard [them], laid [them] up in their hearts, saying, What manner of child will this be! And the hand of the Lord was with him.
67 E Zacarias, seu pai, foi cheio do Espírito Santo, e profetizou, dizendo:
And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying,
68 Bendito o Senhor Deus de Israel, porque visitou e remiu o seu povo,
Blessed [be] the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people.
69 E nos levantou uma salvação poderosa na casa de David seu servo,
And hath raised up a horn of salvation for us, in the house of his servant David:
As he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets, who have been since the world began: (aiōn g165)
71 Que nos livraria dos nossos inimigos e da mão de todos os que nos aborrecem;
That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us;
72 Para manifestar misericórdia a nossos pais, e lembrar-se do seu santo concerto,
To perform the mercy [promised] to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant:
73 E do juramento que jurou a Abraão nosso pai,
The oath which he swore to our father Abraham,
74 De conceder-nos que, libertados da mão de nossos inimigos, o serviríamos sem temor,
That he would grant to us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies, might serve him without fear,
75 Em santidade e justiça perante ele, todos os dias da nossa vida.
In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.
76 E tu, ó menino, serás chamado profeta do altíssimo, porque as de ir adiante da face do Senhor, a preparar os seus caminhos;
And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest, for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways;
77 Para dar ao seu povo conhecimento da salvação, na remissão dos seus pecados;
To give knowledge of salvation to his people, by the remission of their sins,
78 Pelas entranhas da misericórdia do nosso Deus, com que o Oriente do alto nos visitou;
Through the tender mercy of our God; by which the day-spring from on high hath visited us,
79 Para alumiar aos que estão assentados em trevas e sombra de morte; a fim de dirigir os nossos pés pelo caminho da paz.
To give light to them that sit in darkness and [in] the shades of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.
80 E o menino crescia, e se robustecia em espírito. E esteve nos desertos até ao dia em que havia de mostrar-se a Israel.
And the child grew, and became strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his showing to Israel.
