Jó 40
1 Respondeu mais o Senhor a Job e disse:
And the Lord addressed Job, and said,
2 Porventura o contender contra o Todo-poderoso é ensinar? quem quer repreender a Deus, responda a estas coisas.
Will he that contendeth with the Almighty yet find fault? him that reproveth God answer this.
3 Então Job respondeu ao Senhor, e disse:
Then answered Job the Lord, and said,
4 Eis que sou vil; que te responderia eu? a minha mão ponho na minha boca.
Behold, I am too vile: what shall I answer thee? my hand do I place on my mouth.
5 Já uma vez tenho falado, porém mais não responderei: ou ainda duas vezes, porém não proseguirei.
Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: yea, twice; but I will not repeat it again.
6 Então o Senhor respondeu a Job desde a tempestade, e disse:
Then answered the Lord unto Job out of the storm-wind, and said,
7 Ora, pois, cinge os teus lombos como varão; eu te perguntarei a ti, e tu ensina-me.
Do but gird up like a mighty man thy loins: I will ask thee, and do thou inform me.
8 Porventura também farás tu vão o meu juízo? ou tu me condenarás, para te justificares?
Wilt thou indeed annul my decree? wilt thou condemn me, in order that thou mayest appear righteous?
9 Ou tens braço como Deus? ou podes trovejar com voz como a sua?
But if thou hast an arm like God, or if thou canst thunder loudly like him:
10 Orna-te pois com excelência e alteza; e veste-te de magestade e de glória.
Then do deck thyself with excellence and greatness, and clothe thyself in majesty and glory.
11 Derrama os furores da tua ira, e atenta para todo o soberbo, e abate-o.
Scatter abroad the ragings of thy wrath, and look on every proud one, and humble him.
12 Olha para todo o soberbo, e humilha-o, e atropela os ímpios no seu lugar.
Look on every proud one, and bend him low; and tread down the wicked in their place.
13 Esconde-os juntamente no pó: ata-lhes os rostos em oculto.
Hide them in the dust altogether: bind up their faces in concealment.
14 Então também eu a ti confessarei que a tua mão direita te haverá livrado.
Then will I also myself praise thee, when thy own right hand hath helped thee.
15 Vês aqui a Behemoth, que eu fiz contigo, que come a erva como o boi.
Only behold Behemoth, which I made near thee: grass he eateth like the ox.
16 Eis que a sua força está nos seus lombos, e o seu poder no umbigo do seu ventre.
Only see, [how great] is his strength in his loins, and his force, in the muscles of his belly.
17 Quando quer, move a sua cauda como cedro: os nervos das suas coxas estão entretecidos.
He stretcheth out his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his loins are closely wrapped together.
18 Os seus ossos são como coxas de bronze: a sua ossada é como barras de ferro.
His bones are like pipes of brass: his frame is like bars of iron.
19 Ele é obra prima dos caminhos de Deus: o que o fez lhe apegou a sua espada.
He is the first in rank of the works of God: he that made him can alone bring his sword near unto him.
20 Em verdade os montes lhe produzem pasto, onde todos os animais do campo folgam.
But truly the mountains bear for him his food, and all the beasts of the field play there.
21 Deita-se debaixo das árvores sombrias, no esconderijo das canas e da lama.
Under shady trees he lieth down, in the covert of the reeds, and swamp.
22 As árvores sombrias o cobrem, com sua sombra: os salgueiros do ribeiro o cercam.
Shady trees cover him as his shadow: willows of the brook encompass him about.
23 Eis que um rio trasborda, e ele não se apressa, confiando que o Jordão possa entrar na sua boca.
Behold, a river sweepeth violently along, but he hasteneth not away: he remaineth quiet, though a Jordan rusheth up to his mouth.
24 Pode-lo-iam porventura caçar à vista de seus olhos? ou com laços lhe furar os narizes?
Can one catch him before his eyes? pierce his nose by means of snares?—
