Jó 36
1 Proseguiu ainda Elihu, e disse:
Elihu also proceeded, and said,
2 Espera-me um pouco, e mostrar-te-ei que ainda há razões a favor de Deus.
Suffer me a little, and I will shew thee: for I have yet somewhat to say on God’s behalf.
3 Desde longe repetirei a minha opinião; e ao meu criador atribuirei a justiça.
I will fetch my knowledge from afar, and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.
4 Porque na verdade, as minhas palavras não serão falsas: contigo está um que é sincero na sua opinião.
For truly my words are not false: one that is perfect in knowledge is with thee.
5 Eis que Deus é mui grande, contudo a ninguém despreza: grande é em força de coração.
Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any: he is mighty in strength of understanding.
6 Não deixa viver ao ímpio, e faz justiça aos aflitos.
He preserveth not the life of the wicked: but giveth to the afflicted [their] right.
7 Do justo não tira os seus olhos; antes estão com os reis no trono; ali os assenta para sempre, e assim são exaltados.
He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous: but with kings upon the throne he setteth them for ever, and they are exalted.
8 E, se estando presos em grilhões, os detém amarrados com cordas de aflição,
And if they be bound in fetters, and be taken in the cords of affliction;
9 Então lhes faz saber a obra deles, e as suas transgressões; porquanto prevaleceram nelas.
Then he sheweth them their work, and their transgressions, that they have behaved themselves proudly.
10 E revela-lho aos seus ouvidos, para seu ensino; e diz-lhes que se convertam da maldade.
He openeth also their ear to instruction, and commandeth that they return from iniquity.
11 Se o ouvirem, e o servirem, acabarão seus dias em bem, e os seus anos em delícias.
If they hearken and serve [him], they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.
12 Porém se o não ouvirem, à espada os passarão, e expirarão sem conhecimento.
But if they hearken not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.
13 E os hipócritas de coração amontoam para si a ira; e amarrando-os ele, não clamam por socorro.
But they that are godless in heart lay up anger: they cry not for help when he bindeth them.
14 A sua alma morre na mocidade, e a sua vida entre os sodomitas.
They die in youth, and their life [perisheth] among the unclean.
15 Ao aflito livra, da sua aflição, e na opressão o revelará aos seus ouvidos.
He delivereth the afflicted by his affliction, and openeth their ear in oppression.
16 Assim também te desviará da boca da angústia para um lugar espaçoso, em que não haja aperto, e as iguarias da tua mesa serão cheias de gordura.
Yea, he would have led thee away out of distress into a broad place, where there is no straitness; and that which is set on thy table should be full of fatness.
17 E estarás satisfeito com o juízo do ímpio: o juízo e a justiça te sustentarão.
But thou art full of the judgment of the wicked: judgment and justice take hold [on thee].
18 Porquanto há furor, guarda-te de que porventura te não tire de pancada, pois por grande preço te não poderiam retirar dali.
Because there is wrath, beware lest thou be led away by [thy] sufficiency; neither let the greatness of the ransom turn thee aside.
19 Estimaria ele tanto tuas riquezas, ou alguns esforços da força, que por isso não estivesses em aperto?
Will thy riches suffice, [that thou be] not in distress, or all the forces of [thy] strength?
20 Não suspires pela noite, em que os povos sejam tomados do seu lugar.
Desire not the night, when peoples are cut off in their place.
21 Guarda-te, e não declines para a iniquidade: porquanto nisto a escolheste, por causa da tua miséria.
Take heed, regard not iniquity: for this hast thou chosen rather than affliction.
22 Eis que Deus exalta com a sua força; quem ensina como ele?
Behold, God doeth loftily in his power: who is a teacher like unto him?
23 Quem lhe pedirá conta do seu caminho? ou, quem lhe disse: Tu cometeste maldade?
Who hath enjoined him his way? or who can say, Thou hast wrought unrighteousness?
24 Lembra-te de que engrandeças a sua obra que os homens contemplam.
Remember that thou magnify his work, whereof men have sung.
25 Todos os homens a veem, e o homem a enxerga de longe.
All men have looked thereon; man beholdeth it afar off.
26 Eis que Deus é grande, e nós o não compreendemos, e o número dos seus anos se não pode esquadrinhar.
Behold, God is great, and we know him not; the number of his years is unsearchable.
27 Porque faz miúdas as gotas das águas que derramam a chuva do seu vapor.
For he draweth up the drops of water, which distil in rain from his vapour:
28 A qual as nuvens destilam e gotejam sobre o homem abundantemente.
Which the skies pour down and drop upon man abundantly.
29 Porventura também se poderão entender as extensões das nuvens, e os estalos da sua tenda?
Yea, can any understand the spreadings of the clouds, the thunderings of his pavilion?
30 Eis que estende sobre elas a sua luz, e encobre os altos do mar.
Behold, he spreadeth his light around him; and he covereth the bottom of the sea.
31 Porque por estas coisas julga os povos e lhes dá mantimento em abundância.
For by these he judgeth the peoples; he giveth meat in abundance.
32 Com as mãos encobre a luz, e faz-lhe proibição pela que passa por entre elas.
He covereth his hands with the lightning; and giveth it a charge that it strike the mark.
33 O que dá a entender o seu pensamento, como também aos gados, acerca do temporal que sobe.
The noise thereof telleth concerning him, the cattle also concerning [the storm] that cometh up.
