Jó 21
1 Respondeu porém Job, e disse:
And Job answers and says:
2 Ouvi atentamente as minhas razões; e isto vos sirva de consolações.
“Hear my word diligently, And this is your consolation.
3 Sofrei-me, e eu falarei: e, havendo eu falado, zombai.
Bear with me, and I speak, And after my speaking—you may deride.
4 Porventura eu me queixo a algum homem? porém, ainda que assim fosse, porque se não angustiaria o meu espírito?
[Is] my complaint [against] man? And if [so], why may my temper not become short?
5 Olhai para mim, e pasmai: e ponde a mão sobre a boca.
Turn to me, and be astonished, And put hand to mouth.
6 Porque, quando me lembro disto, me perturbo, e a minha carne é sobresaltada de horror.
Indeed, if I have remembered, then I have been troubled. And my flesh has taken fright.
7 Por que razão vivem os ímpios? envelhecem, e ainda se esforçam em poder?
Why do the wicked live? They have become old, Indeed, they have been mighty in wealth.
8 A sua semente se estabelece com eles perante a sua face; e os seus renovos perante os seus olhos.
Their seed is established, Before their face with them, And their offspring before their eyes.
9 As suas casas tem paz, sem temor; e a vara de Deus não está sobre eles.
Their houses [are] peace without fear, Nor [is] a rod of God on them.
10 O seu touro gera, e não falha: pare a sua vaca, e não aborta.
His bullock breeds without fail. His cow brings forth safely, and does not miscarry.
11 Mandam fora as suas crianças, como a um rebanho, e seus filhos andam saltando.
They send forth their sucklings as a flock, And their children skip,
12 Levantam a voz, ao som do tamboril e da harpa, e alegram-se ao som dos órgãos.
They lift [themselves] up at timbrel and harp, And rejoice at the sound of a pipe.
They wear out their days in good, And in a moment go down [to] Sheol. (Sheol h7585)
14 E, todavia, dizem a Deus: Retirate de nós; porque não desejamos ter conhecimento dos teus caminhos.
And they say to God, Turn aside from us, And the knowledge of Your ways We have not desired.
15 Quem é o Todo-poderoso, para que nós o sirvamos? e que nos aproveitará que lhe façamos orações?
What [is] the Mighty One that we serve Him? And what do we profit when we meet with Him?
16 Vede porém que o seu bem não está na mão deles: esteja longe de mim o conselho dos ímpios!
Behold, their good [is] not in their hand (The counsel of the wicked Has been far from me).
17 Quantas vezes sucede que se apaga a candeia dos ímpios, e lhes sobrevem a sua destruição? e Deus na sua ira lhes reparte dores!
How often is the lamp of the wicked extinguished, And their calamity comes on them? He apportions pangs in His anger.
18 Porque são como a palha diante do vento, e como a pragana, que arrebata o redemoinho.
They are as straw before wind, And as chaff a windstorm has stolen away,
19 Deus guarda a sua violência para seus filhos, e lhe dá o pago, que o sente.
God lays up for his sons his sorrow, He gives repayment to him—and he knows.
20 Seus olhos veem a sua ruína, e ele bebe do furor do Todo-poderoso.
His own eyes see his destruction, And he drinks of the wrath of the Mighty.
21 Porque, que prazer teria na sua casa, depois de si, cortando-se-lhe o número dos seus meses?
For what [is] his delight in his house after him, And the number of his months cut off?
22 Porventura a Deus se ensinaria ciência, a ele que julga os excelsos?
Does [one] teach knowledge to God, Since He judges [those] on high?
23 Este morre na força da sua plenitude, estando todo quieto e sossegado.
This [one] dies in his perfect strength, Wholly at ease and quiet.
24 Os seus baldes estão cheios de leite, e os seus ossos estão regados de tutanos.
His breasts have been full of milk, And marrow moistens his bones.
25 E outro morre, ao contrário, na amargura do seu coração, não havendo comido do bem.
And this [one] dies with a bitter soul, And has not eaten with gladness.
26 Juntamente jazem no pó, e os bichos os cobrem.
Together they lie down on the dust, And the worm covers them over.
27 Eis que conheço bem os vossos pensamentos: e os maus intentos com que injustamente me fazeis violência.
Behold, I have known your thoughts, And the schemes against me you do wrongfully.
28 Porque direis: Onde está a casa do príncipe? e onde a tenda das moradas dos ímpios?
For you say, Where [is] the house of the noble? And where the tent—the dwelling places of the wicked?
29 Porventura o não perguntastes aos que passam pelo caminho? e não conheceis os seus sinais?
Have you not asked those passing by the way? And do you not know their signs?
30 Que o mau é preservado para o dia da destruição; e são levados no dia do furor.
That the wicked is spared to a day of calamity. They are brought to a day of wrath.
31 Quem acusará diante dele o seu caminho? e quem lhe dará o pago do que faz?
Who declares his way to his face? And [for] that which he has done, Who gives repayment to him?
32 Finalmente é levado às sepulturas, e vigia no montão.
And he is brought to the graves, And a watch is kept over the heap.
33 Os torrões do vale lhe são doces, e attrahe a si a todo o homem; e diante de si há inumeráveis.
The clods of the valley have been sweet to him, And he draws every man after him, And there is no numbering before him.
34 Como pois me consolais com vaidade? pois nas vossas respostas ainda resta a transgressão.
And how do you comfort me [with] vanity, And trespass has been left in your answers?”
