Jó 20
1 Então respondeu Sofar, o naamathita, e disse:
And Zophar the Naamathite answered and said,
2 Por isso é que os meus pensamentos me fazem responder, e portanto me apresso.
Therefore do my thoughts give me an answer, and for this is my haste within me.
3 Eu ouvi a repreensão, que me envergonha, mas o espírito do meu entendimento responderá por mim.
I hear a reproof putting me to shame; and [my] spirit answereth me by mine understanding.
4 Porventura não sabes isto, que foi desde todo o tempo, desde que o homem foi posto sobre a terra?
Knowest thou [not] this, that of old, since man was placed upon earth,
5 A saber: que o júbilo dos ímpios é breve, e a alegria dos hipócritas como dum momento?
The exultation of the wicked is short, and the joy of the ungodly man but for a moment?
6 Ainda que a sua altura subisse até ao céu, e a sua cabeça chegasse até às nuvens,
Though his height mount up to the heavens, and his head reach unto the clouds,
7 Contudo como o seu próprio esterco perecerá para sempre: e os que o viam dirão: Onde está?
Like his own dung doth he perish for ever; they which have seen him shall say, Where is he?
8 Como um sonho vôa, e não será achado, e será afugentado como uma visão da noite.
He flieth away as a dream, and is not found; and is chased away as a vision of the night.
9 O olho que já o viu jamais o verá, nem olhará mais para ele o seu lugar.
The eye which saw him shall [see him] not again; and his place beholdeth him no more.
10 Os seus filhos procurarão agradar aos pobres, e as suas mãos restaurarão a sua fazenda.
His children shall seek the favour of the poor, and his hands restore his wealth.
11 Os seus ossos se encherão dos seus pecados ocultos, e juntamente se deitarão com ele no pó.
His bones were full of his youthful strength; but it shall lie down with him in the dust.
12 Ainda que o mal lhe seja doce na boca, e ele o esconda debaixo da sua língua,
Though wickedness be sweet in his mouth [and] he hide it under his tongue,
13 E o guarde, e o não deixe, antes o retenha no seu paladar,
[Though] he spare it, and forsake it not, but keep it within his mouth,
14 Contudo a sua comida se mudará nas suas entranhas; fel de áspides será interiormente.
His food is turned in his bowels; it is the gall of asps within him.
15 Enguliu fazendas, porém vomita-las-á; do seu ventre Deus as lançará.
He hath swallowed down riches, but he shall vomit them up again: God shall cast them out of his belly.
16 Veneno de áspides sorverá; língua de víbora o matará.
He shall suck the poison of asps; the viper's tongue shall kill him.
17 Não verá as correntes, os rios e os ribeiros de mel e manteiga.
He shall not see streams, rivers, brooks of honey and butter.
18 Restituirá do seu trabalho, e não o engulirá: conforme ao poder de sua mudança, e não saltará de gozo.
That which he laboured for shall he restore, and not swallow down; its restitution shall be according to the value, and he shall not rejoice [therein].
19 Porquanto oprimiu, desamparou os pobres, e roubou a casa que não edificou.
For he hath oppressed, hath forsaken the poor; he hath violently taken away a house that he did not build.
20 Porquanto não sentiu sossego no seu ventre; da sua tão desejada fazenda coisa nenhuma reterá.
Because he knew no rest in his craving, he shall save nought of what he most desired.
21 Nada lhe sobejará do que coma; pelo que a sua fazenda não será durável.
Nothing escaped his greediness; therefore his prosperity shall not endure.
22 Estando já cheia a sua abastança, estará angustiado: toda a mão dos miseráveis virá sobre ele
In the fulness of his sufficiency he shall be in straits; every hand of the wretched shall come upon him.
23 Haja porém ainda de que possa encher o seu ventre; contudo Deus mandará sobre ele o ardor da sua ira, e a fará chover sobre ele quando ele for a comer.
It shall be that, to fill his belly, he will cast his fierce anger upon him, and will rain it upon him into his flesh.
24 Ainda que fuja das armas de ferro, o arco de aço o atravessará.
If he have fled from the iron weapon, the bow of brass shall strike him through.
25 Desembainhada a espada, sairá do seu corpo, e resplandecendo virá do seu fel: e haverá sobre ele assombros.
He draweth it forth; it cometh out of his body, and the glittering point out of his gall: terrors are upon him.
26 Toda a escuridão se ocultará nos seus esconderijos: um fogo não assoprado o consumirá: e com o que ficar na sua tenda irá mal.
All darkness is laid up for his treasures: a fire not blown shall devour him; it shall feed upon what is left in his tent.
27 Os céus manifestarão a sua iniquidade: e a terra se levantará contra ele.
The heavens shall reveal his iniquity, and the earth shall rise up against him.
28 As rendas de sua casa serão transportadas: no dia da sua ira todas se derramarão.
The increase of his house shall depart, flowing away in the day of his anger.
29 Esta, da parte de Deus, é a porção do homem ímpio: e, da parte de Deus, a herança dos seus ditos.
This is the portion of the wicked man from God, and the heritage appointed to him by God.
