Jeremias 3
1 Dizem: Se um homem despedir sua mulher, e ela se for dele, e se ajuntar a outro homem, porventura tornará a ela mais? porventura aquela terra de todo se não profanaria? Ora, pois, tu fornicaste com tantos amantes; ainda assim, torna para mim, diz o Senhor.
“They say, ‘If a man puts away his wife, and she goes from him, and becomes another man’s, should he return to her again?’ Wouldn’t that land be greatly polluted? But you have played the prostitute with many lovers; yet return again to me,” says the LORD.
2 Levanta os teus olhos aos altos, e vê onde não te prostituiste? nos caminhos te assentavas para eles, como o árabe no deserto: assim profanaste a terra com as tuas fornicações e com a tua malícia.
“Lift up your eyes to the bare heights, and see! Where have you not been lain with? You have sat waiting for them by the road, as an Arabian in the wilderness. You have polluted the land with your prostitution and with your wickedness.
3 Pelo que foram retiradas as chuvas, e chuva tardia não houve: porém tu tens a testa de uma prostituta, e não queres ter vergonha.
Therefore the showers have been withheld and there has been no latter rain; yet you have had a prostitute’s forehead and you refused to be ashamed.
4 Ao menos desde agora não chamarás por mim, dizendo: pai meu, tu és o guia da minha mocidade?
Will you not from this time cry to me, ‘My Father, you are the guide of my youth!’?
5 Porventura conservará ele para sempre a ira? ou a guardará continuamente? Eis que falas, e fazes as ditas maldades, e prevaleces.
“‘Will he retain his anger forever? Will he keep it to the end?’ Behold, you have spoken and have done evil things, and have had your way.”
6 Disse mais o Senhor nos dias do rei Josias: Viste o que fez a rebelde Israel? ela foi-se a todo o monte alto, e debaixo de toda a árvore verde, e ali andou fornicando.
Moreover, the LORD said to me in the days of Josiah the king, “Have you seen that which backsliding Israel has done? She has gone up on every high mountain and under every green tree, and has played the prostitute there.
7 E eu disse, depois que fez tudo isto: Volta para mim; porém não voltou: e viu isto a sua aleivosa irmã Judá.
I said after she had done all these things, ‘She will return to me;’ but she didn’t return, and her treacherous sister Judah saw it.
8 E vi, quando por causa de tudo isto, em que cometera adultério a rebelde Israel, a despedi, e lhe dei o seu líbelo de divórcio, que a aleivosa Judá, sua irmã, não temeu; porém foi-se e também ela mesmo fornicou.
I saw when, for this very cause, that backsliding Israel had committed adultery, I had put her away and given her a certificate of divorce, yet treacherous Judah, her sister, had no fear, but she also went and played the prostitute.
9 E sucedeu, pela fama da sua fornicação, que contaminou a terra; porque adulterou com a pedra e com o lenho.
Because she took her prostitution lightly, the land was polluted, and she committed adultery with stones and with wood.
10 E, contudo, nem por tudo isso voltou para mim a sua aleivosa irmã Judá, de todo o seu coração, mas falsamente, diz o Senhor.
Yet for all this her treacherous sister, Judah, has not returned to me with her whole heart, but only in pretence,” says the LORD.
11 E o Senhor me disse: Já a rebelde Israel justificou a sua alma mais do que a aleivosa Judá.
The LORD said to me, “Backsliding Israel has shown herself more righteous than treacherous Judah.
12 Vai, pois, e apregoa estas palavras para a banda do norte, dize: Volta, ó rebelde Israel, diz o Senhor, e não farei cair a minha ira sobre vós; porque benigno sou, diz o Senhor, e não conservarei para sempre a minha ira
Go, and proclaim these words towards the north, and say, ‘Return, you backsliding Israel,’ says the LORD; ‘I will not look in anger on you, for I am merciful,’ says the LORD. ‘I will not keep anger forever.
13 Mas contudo conhece a tua iniquidade, porque contra o Senhor teu Deus transgrediste; e espalhaste os teus caminhos aos estranhos, debaixo de toda a árvore verde; e não deste ouvidos à minha voz, diz o Senhor.
Only acknowledge your iniquity, that you have transgressed against the LORD your God, and have scattered your ways to the strangers under every green tree, and you have not obeyed my voice,’” says the LORD.
14 Convertei-vos, ó filhos rebeldes, diz o Senhor; pois eu vos desposei comigo; e vos tomarei, a um de uma cidade, e a dois de uma geração; e vos levarei a Sião.
“Return, backsliding children,” says the LORD, “for I am a husband to you. I will take one of you from a city, and two from a family, and I will bring you to Zion.
15 E vos darei pastores segundo o meu coração, que vos apascentem com ciência e com inteligência.
I will give you shepherds according to my heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.
16 E sucederá que, quando vos multiplicardes e frutificardes na terra naqueles dias, diz o Senhor, nunca mais dirão: A arca do concerto do Senhor nem lhes subirá ao coração; nem dela se lembrarão, nem a visitarão; nem isto se fará mais.
It will come to pass, when you are multiplied and increased in the land in those days,” says the LORD, “they will no longer say, ‘the ark of the LORD’s covenant!’ It will not come to mind. They won’t remember it. They won’t miss it, nor will another be made.
17 Naquele tempo chamarão a Jerusalém o trono do Senhor, e todas as nações se ajuntarão a ela, à causa do nome do Senhor em Jerusalém; e nunca mais andarão segundo o propósito do seu coração maligno
At that time they will call Jerusalem ‘The LORD’s Throne;’ and all the nations will be gathered to it, to the LORD’s name, to Jerusalem. They will no longer walk after the stubbornness of their evil heart.
18 Naqueles dias irá a casa de Judá para a casa de Israel; e virão juntas da terra do norte, para a terra que dei em herança a vossos pais.
In those days the house of Judah will walk with the house of Israel, and they will come together out of the land of the north to the land that I gave for an inheritance to your fathers.
19 Bem dizia eu: Como te porei entre os filhos, e te darei a terra desejável, a excelente herança dos exércitos das nações? Porém eu disse: pai meu, e de após mim te não desviarás.
“But I said, ‘How I desire to put you amongst the children, and give you a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the armies of the nations!’ and I said, ‘You shall call me “My Father”, and shall not turn away from following me.’
20 Deveras, como a mulher se aparta aleivosamente do seu companheiro, assim aleivosamente te houvestes comigo, ó casa de Israel, diz o Senhor.
“Surely as a wife treacherously departs from her husband, so you have dealt treacherously with me, house of Israel,” says the LORD.
21 Nos lugares altos se ouviu uma voz, pranto e suplicas dos filhos de Israel; porquanto perverteram o seu caminho, e se esqueceram do Senhor seu Deus.
A voice is heard on the bare heights, the weeping and the petitions of the children of Israel; because they have perverted their way, they have forgotten the LORD their God.
22 Tornai-vos, ó filhos rebeldes, eu curarei as vossas rebeliões. Eis-nos aqui, vimos a ti; porque tu és o Senhor nosso Deus.
Return, you backsliding children, and I will heal your backsliding. “Behold, we have come to you; for you are the LORD our God.
23 Deveras em vão se confia nos outeiros e na multidão das montanhas: deveras no Senhor nosso Deus está a salvação de Israel
Truly help from the hills, the tumult on the mountains, is in vain. Truly the salvation of Israel is in the LORD our God.
24 Porque a confusão devorou o trabalho de nossos pais desde a nossa mocidade: as suas ovelhas e as suas vacas, os seus filhos e as suas filhas.
But the shameful thing has devoured the labour of our fathers from our youth, their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters.
25 Jazemos na nossa vergonha; e estamos cobertos da nossa confusão, porque pecamos contra o Senhor nosso Deus, nós e nossos pais, desde a nossa mocidade até o dia de hoje; e não demos ouvidos à voz do Senhor nosso Deus.
Let us lie down in our shame, and let our confusion cover us; for we have sinned against the LORD our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even to this day. We have not obeyed the LORD our God’s voice.”
