Jeremias 29

1 E estas são as palavras da carta que Jeremias, o profeta, enviou de Jerusalém, ao resto do cativeiro dos anciãos, como também aos sacerdotes, e aos profetas, e a todo o povo que Nabucodonozor havia transportado de Jerusalém a Babilônia;

Now these [are] the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem to the residue of the elders who were carried away captives, and to the priests, and to the prophets, and to all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon;

2 Depois que sairam o rei Jechonias, e a rainha, e os eunucos, e os príncipes de Judá e Jerusalém, e os carpinteiros e ferreiros de Jerusalém,

(After Jeconiah the king, and the queen, and the eunuchs, the princes of Judah and Jerusalem, and the carpenters, and the smiths, had departed from Jerusalem; )

3 Pela mão de Elasa, filho de Saphan, e de Gemarias, filho de Hilkias, os quais enviou Zedekias, rei de Judá, a Babilônia, a Nabucodonozor, rei de Babilônia, dizendo:

By the hand of Elasah the son of Shaphan, and Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, (whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent to Babylon to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon) saying,

4 Assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos, o Deus de Israel, a todos os que foram transportados, os quais fiz transportar de Jerusalém para Babilônia:

Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, to all that are carried away captives, whom I have caused to be carried away from Jerusalem to Babylon;

5 Edificai casas e habitai nelas; e plantai jardins, e comei o seu fruto.

Build ye houses, and dwell [in them]; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them;

6 Tomai mulheres e gerai filhos e filhas, e tomai mulheres para vossos filhos, e dai vossas filhas a maridos, e parirão filhos e filhas; e multiplicai-vos ali, e não vos diminuais.

Take ye wives, and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters; that ye may be increased there, and not diminished.

7 E procurai a paz da cidade, para onde vos fiz transportar, e orai por ela ao Senhor; porque na sua paz vós tereis paz.

And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray to the LORD for it: for in the peace of it ye shall have peace.

8 Porque assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos, o Deus de Israel: Não vos enganem os vossos profetas que estão no meio de vós, nem os vossos adivinhos, nem deis ouvidos aos vossos sonhos, que vós sonhais:

For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Let not your prophets and your diviners, that [are] in the midst of you, deceive you, neither hearken to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed.

9 Porque eles vos profetizam falsamente no meu nome: não os enviei, diz o Senhor.

For they prophesy falsely to you in my name: I have not sent them, saith the LORD.

10 Porque assim diz o Senhor: Certamente que em se cumprindo setenta anos em Babilônia, vos visitarei, e continuarei sobre vós a minha boa palavra, tornando-vos a trazer a este lugar.

For thus saith the LORD, That after seventy years shall be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my good word towards you, in causing you to return to this place.

11 Porque eu bem sei os pensamentos que eu penso de vós, diz o Senhor; pensamentos de paz, e não de mal, para vos dar o fim que esperais.

For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

12 Então me invocareis, e ireis, e orareis a mim, e eu vos ouvirei.

Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray to me, and I will hearken to you.

13 E buscar-me-eis, e me achareis, quando me buscardes com todo o vosso coração.

And ye shall seek me, and find [me], when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

14 E serei achado de vós, diz o Senhor, e farei tornar os vossos cativos, e congregar-vos-ei de todas as nações, e de todos os lugares para onde vos lancei, diz o Senhor, e tornarei a trazer-vos ao lugar de onde vos transportei.

And I will be found by you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the LORD: and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.

15 Porque dizeis: O Senhor nos levantou profetas em Babilônia.

Because ye have said, The LORD hath raised up for us prophets in Babylon;

16 Porque assim diz o Senhor acerca do rei que se assenta no trono de David; e acerca de todo o povo que habita nesta cidade, a saber, de vossos irmãos, que não sairam convosco para o cativeiro;

[Know] that thus saith the LORD concerning the king that sitteth upon the throne of David, and concerning all the people that dwelleth in this city, [and] concerning your brethren that are not gone forth with you into captivity;

17 Assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos: Eis que enviarei entre eles a espada, a fome e a peste, e fa-los-ei como a figos podres, que não se podem comer, de maus que são.

Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will send upon them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, and will make them like vile figs, that cannot be eaten, they are so bad.

18 E persegui-los-ei com a espada, com a fome, e com a peste; dá-los-ei para servirem de comoção a todos os reinos da terra, como também por maldição, e por espanto, e por assobio, e por opróbrio entre toda sas nações para onde os lançar;

And I will persecute them with the sword, with the famine, and with the pestilence, and will deliver them to be removed to all the kingdoms of the earth, to be a curse, and an astonishment, and a hissing, and a reproach, among all the nations whither I have driven them:

19 Porquanto não deram ouvidos às minhas palavras, diz o Senhor, enviando-lhes eu os meus servos, os profetas, madrugando e enviando; porém vós não escutastes, diz o Senhor.

Because they have not hearkened to my words, saith the LORD, which I sent to them by my servants the prophets, rising early and sending [them]; but ye would not hear, saith the LORD.

20 Vós, pois, ouvi a palavra do Senhor, todos os do cativeiro que enviei de Jerusalém a Babilônia.

Hear ye therefore the word of the LORD, all ye of the captivity, whom I have sent from Jerusalem to Babylon:

21 Assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos, o Deus de Israel, acerca de Ahab, filho de Colaias, e de Zedekias, filho de Maaseias, que vos profetizam falsamente no meu nome: Eis que os entregarei na mão de Nabucodonozor, rei de Babilônia, e ele os ferirá diante dos vossos olhos.

Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning Ahab the son of Kolaiah, and concerning Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, who prophesy a lie to you in my name; Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he shall slay them before your eyes;

22 E tomarão deles uma maldição todos os transportados de Judá, que estão em Babilônia, dizendo: O Senhor te faça como Zedekias, e como Ahab, os quais o rei de Babilônia assou no fogo

And concerning them shall be taken up a curse by all the captivity of Judah who [are] in Babylon, saying, The LORD make thee like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire;

23 Porquanto fizeram loucura em Israel, e cometeram adultério com as mulheres de seus companheiros, e falaram uma palavra no meu nome falsamente, que não lhes mandei, e eu o sei e sou testemunha disso, diz o Senhor.

Because they have committed villainy in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbor's wives, and have spoken lying words in my name, which I have not commanded them; even I know, and [am] a witness, saith the LORD.

24 E a Shemaias, o nehelamita, falarás, dizendo:

[Thus] shalt thou also speak to Shemaiah the Nehelamite, saying,

25 Assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos, o Deus de Israel, dizendo: Porquanto tu enviaste no teu nome cartas a todo o povo que está em Jerusalém, como também a Sofonias, filho de Maaseias, o sacerdote, e a todos os sacerdotes, dizendo:

Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, Because thou hast sent letters in thy name to all the people that [are] at Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, and to all the priests, saying,

26 O Senhor te pôs por sacerdote em lugar de Joiada, o sacerdote, para que sejais encarregados da casa do Senhor sobre todo o homem furioso, e que profetiza, para o lançares na prisão e no tronco.

The LORD hath made thee priest in the stead of Jehoiada the priest, that ye should be officers in the house of the LORD, for every man [that is] mad, and maketh himself a prophet, that thou shouldest put him in prison, and in the stocks.

27 Agora, pois, porque não repreendeste a Jeremias, o anathotita, que profetiza vos?

Now therefore why hast thou not reproved Jeremiah of Anathoth, who maketh himself a prophet to you?

28 Porque por isso nos mandou a nós a Babilônia, dizendo: Ainda o cativeiro muito há de durar; edificai casas, e habitai nelas; e plantai jardins, e comei o seu fruto.

For therefore he sent to us [in] Babylon, saying, This [captivity is] long: build ye houses, and dwell [in them]; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them.

29 E lera Sofonias, o sacerdote, esta carta aos ouvidos de Jeremias, o profeta.

And Zephaniah the priest read this letter in the ears of Jeremiah the prophet.

30 E veio a palavra do Senhor a Jeremias, dizendo:

Then came the word of the LORD to Jeremiah, saying,

31 Manda a todos os do cativeiro, dizendo: Assim diz o Senhor acerca de Semaias, o nehelamita: Porquanto Semaias vos profetizou, e eu não o enviei, e vos fez confiar em mentiras,

Send to all them of the captivity, saying, Thus saith the LORD concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite; Because Shemaiah hath prophesied to you, and I sent him not, and he caused you to trust in a lie:

32 Portanto assim diz o Senhor: Eis que visitarei a Semaias, o nehelamita, e a sua semente: ele não terá ninguém que habite entre este povo, e não verá o bem que hei de fazer ao meu povo, diz o Senhor, porquanto falou rebelião contra o Senhor.

Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite, and his seed: he shall not have a man to dwell among this people; neither shall he behold the good that I will do for my people, saith the LORD; because he hath taught rebellion against the LORD.
