Jeremias 19
1 Assim diz o Senhor: vai, e compra uma botija de oleiro, e toma contigo dos anciãos do povo e dos anciãos dos sacerdotes;
Thus saith Jehovah: Go and buy an earthen bottle of the potter, And take with thee the elders of the people, And the elders of the priests,
2 E sai ao vale do filho de Hinnom, que está à entrada da porta do sol, e apregoa ali as palavras que eu te disser.
And go forth to the valley of the son of Hinnom, At the entrance of the pottery-gate, And proclaim there the words Which I shall speak to thee.
3 E dize: Ouvi a palavra do Senhor, ó reis de Judá, e moradores de Jerusalém: assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos, o Deus de Israel: Eis que trarei um mal sobre este lugar, que quem quer que ouvir retinir-lhe-ão as orelhas:
Say, Hear the word of Jehovah, Ye kings of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem! Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I am about to bring such an evil upon this place, That whoever heareth of it, his ears shall tingle.
4 Porquanto me deixaram e alienaram este lugar, e nele queimaram incenso a outros deuses, que nunca conheceram, nem eles nem seus pais, nem os reis de Judá; e encheram este lugar de sangue de inocentes.
For they have forsaken me, And have alienated this place, And have burned incense in it to strange gods, Which neither they, nor their fathers, nor the kings of Judah have known, And have filled this place with the blood of innocent children,
5 Porque edificaram os altos de Baal, para queimarem seus filhos no fogo em holocaustos a Baal; o que nunca lhes ordenei, nem falei, nem subiu ao meu coração.
And have built high places to Baal, To burn their sons in the fire for burnt-offerings to Baal; Which I ordained not, and commanded not, And which never came into my mind.
6 Por isso eis que dias veem, diz o Senhor, em que este lugar não se chamará mais Topheth, nem o vale do filho de Hinnom, mas o vale da matança.
Therefore, behold, the days are coming, saith Jehovah, When this place shall no more be called Tophet, Nor the valley of the son of Hinnom, But the valley of Slaughter.
7 Porque dissiparei o conselho de Judá e de Jerusalém neste lugar, e os farei cair à espada diante de seus inimigos, e pela mão dos que buscam a sua vida deles; e darei os seus cadáveres para pasto às aves dos céus e aos animais da terra.
For I will in this place bring to naught the plans of Judah and Jerusalem, And I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies, And by the hands of them that seek their lives; And their dead bodies will I give for food To the birds of heaven and the beasts of the earth.
8 E porei esta cidade em espanto e por assobio: todo aquele que passar por ela se espantará, e assobiará sobre todas as suas pragas.
And I will make this city a wonder and a hissing; Every one that passeth by it shall wonder and hiss, On account of all its plagues.
9 E os farei comer a carne de seus filhos, e a carne de suas filhas, e comerá cada um a carne do seu próximo, no cerco e no aperto em que os apertarão os seus inimigos, e os que buscam a vida deles.
For I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and of their daughters, Yea, the flesh of each other shall they eat, In the straitness and the distress With which their enemies, and they that seek their lives, shall press them.
10 Então quebrarás a botija aos olhos dos homens que forem contigo.
Then break thou the bottle Before the eyes of the men that go with thee.
11 E dir-lhes-ás: Assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos: Assim quebrarei eu a este povo, e a esta cidade, como se quebra o vaso do oleiro, que não pode mais refazer-se, e os enterrarão em Topheth, porque não haverá mais lugar para os enterrar.
And say to them: Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: So will I break this people and this city, As one breaks a potter's vessel which cannot be made whole again; And they shall be buried in Tophet, till there is no room to bury.
12 Assim farei a este lugar, diz o Senhor, e aos seus moradores; e isso para pôr a esta cidade como a Topheth.
Thus will I do to this place and to its inhabitants, saith Jehovah, And I will make this city itself like Tophet;
13 E as casas de Jerusalém, e as casas dos reis de Judá, serão imundas como o lugar de Topheth: como também todas as casas, sobre cujos terraços queimaram incenso a todo o exército dos céus, e ofereceram libações a deuses estranhos.
And the houses of Jerusalem and the houses of the kings of Judah shall be unclean, like the place of Tophet, All the houses upon whose roofs they have burned incense to all the host of heaven, And poured out drink-offerings to strange gods.
14 Vindo pois Jeremias de Topheth, onde o tinha enviado o Senhor a profetizar, se pôs em pé no átrio da casa do Senhor, e disse a todo o povo:
Then came Jeremiah from Tophet, Whither Jehovah had sent him to prophesy, And stood in the court of the house of Jehovah, And said to all the people:
15 Assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos, o Deus de Israel: Eis que trarei sobre esta cidade, e sobre todas as suas cidades, todo o mal que falei contra ela, porquanto endureceram a sua cerviz, para não ouvirem as minhas palavras.
Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I am about to bring upon this city, and upon all the cities belonging to it, All the evil which I have pronounced against it; For they have made their necks stiff, And refused to hearken to my words.
