Jeremias 16
1 E veio a mim a palavra do Senhor, dizendo:
The word of Jehovah came to me, saying:
2 Não tomarás para ti mulher, nem terás filhos nem filhas neste lugar.
Take thee not a wife; Have no sons or daughters in this place!
3 Porque assim diz o Senhor, acerca dos filhos e das filhas que nascerem neste lugar, acerca de suas mães, que os parirem, e de seus pais que os gerarem nesta terra:
For thus saith Jehovah concerning the sons and the daughters That are born in this place, And concerning their mothers that bore them, And concerning their fathers that begat them in this land;
4 Morrerão de enfermidades dolorosas, e não serão pranteados nem sepultados: servirão de esterco sobre a terra; e pela espada e pela fome serão consumidos, e os seus cadáveres servirão de mantimento para as aves do céu e para os animais da terra.
By deadly diseases shall they die; They shall not be lamented nor buried; They shall become dung upon the face of the earth; By the sword also and by famine shall they be consumed, And their carcasses shall be food for the birds of heaven And the beasts of the earth.
5 Porque assim diz o Senhor: Não entres na casa do luto, nem vás a lamentar, nem te compadeças deles; porque já deste povo, diz o Senhor, tirei a minha paz, benignidade e misericórdia.
For thus saith Jehovah: Enter not into the house of wailing; Go not to lament; Comfort them not! For I have taken away my peace from this people, saith Jehovah, My kindness and mercy.
6 E morrerão grandes e pequenos nesta terra, e não serão sepultados, e não os prantearão nem se farão por eles incisões, nem por eles se raparão os cabelos.
The great and the small in this land shall die; They shall not be buried nor lamented; No one shall cut himself for them, Nor shall any one make himself bald for them.
7 E nada se lhes repartirá por dó, para consola-los por causa de morte: nem lhes darão a beber do copo de consolação, nem por pai de alguém, nem por mãe de alguém.
Men shall not break bread for them in their grief, To comfort them for the dead, Nor give them the cup of consolation to drink, On account of a lost father or mother.
8 Nem entres na casa do banquete, para te assentares com eles a comer e a beber.
Neither enter thou into the house of feasting, To sit down with them to eat and to drink!
9 Porque assim diz o Senhor dos exércitos, o Deus de Israel: Eis que farei cessar deste lugar perante os vossos olhos, e em vossos dias, a voz de gozo e a voz de alegria, a voz do esposo e a voz da esposa.
For thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I am about to cause to cease from this place, Before your eyes, in your days, The voice of joy and the voice of mirth, The voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride.
10 E será que, quando anunciares a este povo todas estas palavras, e eles te disserem: Porque fala o Senhor sobre nós todo este grande mal? e qual é a nossa iniquidade, e qual é o nosso pecado, que pecamos contra o Senhor nosso Deus
And when thou shalt have declared to this people all these things, and they shall say to thee, “Why hath Jehovah pronounced against us all this great evil? What is our iniquity, and what our sin, which we have committed against Jehovah our God?”
11 Então lhes dirás: Porquanto vossos pais me deixaram, diz o Senhor, e se foram após deuses alheios, e os serviram, e se inclinaram diante deles, e a mim me deixaram, e a minha lei não a guardaram.
Then shalt thou say to them: Because your fathers have forsaken me, saith Jehovah, And have walked after strange gods, And have served them and worshipped them, And have forsaken me, and not kept my law.
12 E vós fizestes pior do que vossos pais; porque, eis que cada um de vós anda após o propósito do seu malvado coração, para me não dar ouvidos a mim
And ye yourselves have done worse than your fathers; For, behold, ye walk every one after the perverseness of his evil heart, And do not hearken to me.
13 E lançar-vos-ei fora desta terra, para uma terra que não conhecestes, nem vós nem vossos pais; e ali servireis a deuses alheios de dia e de noite, porque não usarei de misericórdia convosco.
Therefore will I cast you forth from this land Into a land unknown to you and to your fathers; And there shall ye serve strange gods day and night; For I will show you no favor.
14 Portanto, eis que dias veem, diz o Senhor, em que nunca mais se dirá: Vive o Senhor, que fez subir os filhos de Israel da terra do Egito.
Yet behold the days shall come, saith Jehovah, When men shall no more say, “As Jehovah liveth Who brought up the children of Israel from the land of Egypt,”
15 Mas: Vive o Senhor, que fez subir os filhos de Israel da terra do norte, e de todas as terras para onde os tinha lançado; porque fa-los-ei voltar à sua terra, a qual dei a seus pais.
But, “As Jehovah liveth Who brought up the children of Israel from the land of the North, And from all the lands whither he had driven them.” For I will bring them again into their own land, Which I gave to their fathers.
16 Eis que mandarei muitos pescadores, diz o Senhor, os quais os pescarão, e depois enviarei muitos caçadores, os quais os caçarão de sobre todo o monte, e de sobre todo o outeiro, e até das fendas das rochas.
Behold, I will send many fishers, saith Jehovah, who shall fish them, And then will I send many hunters who shall hunt them From every mountain, and from every hill, and from the holes of the rocks.
17 Porque os meus olhos estão sobre todos os seus caminhos; não se escondem perante a minha face, nem a sua maldade se encobre de diante dos meus olhos.
For mine eyes are upon all their ways; They are not concealed from my view, Nor is their iniquity hidden from mine eyes.
18 E primeiramente pagarei em dobro a sua maldade e o seu pecado, porque profanaram a minha terra com os cadáveres das suas coisas detestáveis, e das suas abominações encheram a minha herança.
And I will requite their former and their repeated iniquities and sins, Because they have polluted my land with carcasses offered to their idols, And filled my inheritance with their abominable things.
19 Ó Senhor, fortaleza minha, e força minha, e refúgio meu no dia da angústia: a ti virão as nações desde os fins da terra, e dirão: Nossos pais herdaram só mentiras, e vaidade, em que não havia proveito.
O Jehovah, my strength and my fortress, My refuge in the day of distress! To thee shall the nations come from the ends of the earth, And shall say, “Truly our fathers inherited delusion, Vain and unprofitable things.
20 Porventura fará um homem deuses para si, quando eles não são deuses?
Shall one make for himself gods Which are no gods?”
21 Portanto, eis que os farei conhecer; desta vez os farei conhecer a minha mão e o meu poder; e saberão que o meu nome é o Senhor.
Therefore, behold, I will this time cause them to feel, I will cause them to feel my hand and my might, And they shall know that my name is Jehovah.
