Isaías 43

1 Porém agora, assim diz o Senhor que te criou, ó Jacob, e que te formou, ó Israel: Não temas, porque eu te remi: chamei-te pelo teu nome, tu és meu.

And now thus says the Lord who created you, O Jacob, and who formed you, O Israel: Do not be afraid. For I have redeemed you, and I have called you by your name. You are mine.

2 Quando passares pelas águas estarei contigo, e quando pelos rios, não te submergirão: quando passares pelo fogo, não te queimarás, nem a chama arderá em ti.

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and the rivers will not cover you. When you walk through fire, you will not be burned, and the flames will not scorch you.

3 Porque eu sou o Senhor teu Deus, o Santo de Israel, o teu Salvador: dei ao Egito por teu resgate a Ethiopia e a Seba, em teu lugar.

For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I have presented Egypt as your atonement, Ethiopia and Seba on your behalf.

4 Enquanto foste precioso aos meus olhos, também foste glorificado, e eu te amei, pelo que dei os homens por ti, e os povos pela tua alma.

Since then, you have become honorable in my eyes, and glorious. I have loved you, and I will present men on behalf of you, and people on behalf of your life.

5 Não temas, pois, porque estou contigo: trarei a tua semente desde o oriente, e te ajuntarei desde o ocidente.

Fear not, for I am with you. I will lead your offspring from the East, and I will gather you from the West.

6 Direi ao norte; Dá; e ao sul; Não retenhas: trazei meus filhos de longe, e minhas filhas das extremidades da terra.

I will say to the North, “Release him,” and to the South, “Do not turn him away.” Bring my sons from far away, and my daughters from the ends of the earth.

7 Todos os chamados do meu nome, e os que criei para a minha glória, os formei, e também os fiz.

And each one who calls upon my name, I have created for my glory. I have formed him, and I have made him.

8 Trazei o povo cego, que tem olhos; e os surdos, que tem ouvidos.

Lead forth the people who are blind and have eyes, who are deaf and have ears.

9 Todas as nações se congreguem juntamente, e os povos se reúnam; quem dentre eles pode anunciar isto, e fazer-nos ouvir as coisas antigas? produzam as suas testemunhas, para que se justifiquem, e se ouça, e se diga: Verdade é.

All the nations have been assembled together, and the tribes have been collected. Who among you will announce this, and who will cause us to listen to the things that are first? Let them present their witnesses. Let them act justly, and listen, and say: “It is true.”

10 Vós sois as minhas testemunhas, diz o Senhor, e o meu servo, a quem escolhi; para que o saibais, e me creiais, e entendais que eu sou o mesmo, e que antes de mim deus nenhum se formou, e depois de mim nenhum haverá.

You are my witnesses, says the Lord, and you are my servant, whom I have chosen, so that you may know, and may believe in me, and so that you may understand that I am the same. Before me, there was no god formed, and after me there will be none.

11 Eu, eu sou o Senhor, e fora de mim não há Salvador.

I am. I am the Lord. And there is no savior apart from me.

12 Eu anunciei, e eu salvei, e eu o fiz ouvir, e Deus estranho não houve entre vós, pois vós sois as minhas testemunhas, diz o Senhor; eu sou Deus.

I have announced, and I have saved. I have caused it to be heard. And there was no stranger among you. You are my witnesses, says the Lord, and I am God.

13 Ainda antes que houvesse dia, eu sou; e ninguém há que possa fazer escapar das minhas mãos: obrando eu, quem o desviará?

And from the beginning, I am the same. And there is no one who can rescue from my hand. I act, and who can turn it aside?

14 Assim diz o Senhor, teu redentor, o Santo de Israel: Por amor de vós enviei a Babilônia, e a todos os fiz descer como fugitivos, a saber, os caldeus, nos navios em que exultavam.

Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: For your sake, I sent to Babylon, and tore down all their bars, with the Chaldeans who glory in their ships.

15 Eu sou o Senhor, vosso Santo, o criador de Israel, vosso Rei.

I am the Lord, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, your King.

16 Assim diz o Senhor, o que preparou no mar um caminho, e nas águas impetuosas uma vereda;

Thus says the Lord, who gave you a way through the sea and a path through the torrent of waters,

17 O que trouxe o carro e o cavalo, o exército e a força: eles juntamente se deitaram, e nunca se levantarão: já estão apagados; como um pávio se apagaram.

who led out the chariot and the horse, the column of robust troops. They went to sleep together, and they will not arise. They have been crushed like flax, and they have been extinguished.

18 Não vos lembreis das coisas passadas, nem considereis as antigas.

You need not call to mind the past, nor consider the things of antiquity.

19 Eis que farei uma coisa nova, agora sairá à luz: porventura não a sabereis? porque porei um caminho no deserto, e rios no ermo.

Behold, I am accomplishing new things. And presently, they will spring forth. With certainty, you will know them. I will make a way in the desert, and rivers in an impassible place.

20 Os animais do campo me servirão, os dragões, e os filhos do avestruz; porque porei águas no deserto, e rios no ermo, para dar de beber ao meu povo, ao meu eleito.

The wild beasts of the field will glorify me, with the serpents and the ostriches. For I have brought waters to the desert, rivers to inaccessible places, in order to give drink to my people, to my elect.

21 A este povo formei para mim; o meu louvor relatarão.

This is the people whom I have formed for myself. They will speak my praise.

22 Contudo tu não me invocaste a mim, ó Jacob, mas te cançaste de mim, ó Israel.

But you have not called upon me, O Jacob, nor have you struggled for me, O Israel.

23 Não me trouxeste o gado miúdo dos teus holocaustos, nem me honraste com os teus sacrifícios; não te fiz servir com presentes, nem te fatiguei com incenso.

You have not offered me the ram of your holocaust, and you have not glorified me with your victims. I have not burdened you with oblations, nor have I wearied you with incense.

24 Não me compraste por dinheiro cana aromática, nem com a gordura dos teus sacrifícios me encheste, mas me deste trabalho com os teus pecados, e me cançaste com as tuas maldades.

You have bought me no sweet cane with money, and you have not inebriated me with the fat of your victims. Yet truly, you have burdened me with your sins; you have wearied me with your iniquities.

25 Eu, eu sou o que apago as tuas transgressões por amor de mim, e dos teus pecados me não lembro.

I am. I am the very One who wipes away your iniquities for my own sake. And I will not remember your sins.

26 Faze-me lembrar; entremos em juízo juntamente: aponta tu as tuas razões, para que te possa justificar.

Call me to mind, and let us go to judgment together. If you have anything to justify yourself, explain it.

27 Teu primeiro pai pecou, e os teus interpretes prevaricaram contra mim.

Your first father sinned, and your interpreters have betrayed me.

28 Pelo que profanarei os maiorais do santuário; e farei de Jacob um anátema, e de Israel um opróbrio.

And so, I have defiled the holy leaders. I have handed over Jacob to slaughter, and Israel to calumny.
