Isaías 29

1 Ai d'Ariel, Ariel, a cidade em que David assentou o seu arraial! acrescentai ano a ano, e sacrifiquem sacrifícios festivos.

Ah, Ariel, Ariel, the city where David encamped! Add ye year to year, let the feasts come round!

2 Contudo porei a Ariel em aperto, e haverá pranto e tristeza: e a cidade me será como Ariel.

Then will I distress Ariel, and there shall be mourning and moaning; and she shall be unto Me as a hearth of God.

3 Porque te cercarei com o meu arraial, e te sitiarei com baluartes, e levantarei tranqueiras contra ti.

And I will encamp against thee round about, and will lay siege against thee with a mound, and I will raise siege works against thee.

4 Então serás abatida, falarás desde debaixo da terra, e a tua fala desde o pó sairá fraca, e será a tua voz desde debaixo da terra, como a dum feiticeiro, e a tua fala assobiará desde debaixo do pó.

And brought down thou shalt speak out of the ground, and thy speech shall be low out of the dust; and thy voice shall be as of a ghost out of the ground, and thy speech shall chirp out of the dust.

5 E a multidão dos teus inimigos será como o pó miúdo, e a multidão dos tiranos como a pragana que passa, e num momento repentino sucederá.

But the multitude of thy foes shall be like small dust, and the multitude of the terrible ones as chaff that passeth away; yea, it shall be at an instant suddenly —

6 Do Senhor dos exércitos serás visitada com trovões, e com terremotos, e grande arroido com tufão de vento, e tempestade, e labareda de fogo consumidor.

There shall be a visitation from the LORD of hosts with thunder, and with earthquake, and great noise, with whirlwind and tempest, and the flame of a devouring fire.

7 E como o sonho de visão de noite, assim será a multidão de todas as nações que pelejarão contra Ariel, como também todos os que pelejarão contra ela e contra os seus muros, e a porão em aperto.

And the multitude of all the nations that war against Ariel, even all that war against her, and the bulwarks about her, and they that distress her, shall be as a dream, a vision of the night.

8 Será também como o faminto que sonha, e eis que lhe parece que come, porém, acordando, se acha a sua alma vazia, ou como o sequioso que sonha, e eis que lhe parece que bebe, porém, acordando, eis que ainda desfalecido se acha, e a sua alma com sede: assim será toda a multidão das nações, que pelejarem contra o monte de Sião

And it shall be as when a hungry man dreameth, and, behold, he eateth, but he awaketh, and his soul is empty; or as when a thirsty man dreameth, and, behold, he drinketh, but he awaketh, and, behold, he is faint, and his soul hath appetite — so shall the multitude of all the nations be, that fight against mount Zion.

9 Tardam, porém, pelo que vos maravilhai, andam folgando, portanto clamai: bêbados estão, mas não de vinho, andam titubeando, mas não de bebida forte.

Stupefy yourselves, and be stupid! Blind yourselves, and be blind! ye that are drunken, but not with wine, that stagger, but not with strong drink.

10 Porque o Senhor derramou sobre vós um espírito de profundo sono, e fechou os vossos olhos; vendou os profetas, e os vossos cabeças, e os videntes.

For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes; the prophets, and your heads, the seers, hath He covered.

11 Pelo que toda a visão vos é como as palavras dum livro selado que se dá ao que sabe ler, dizendo: Ora lê isto: e ele dirá: Não posso, porque está selado.

And the vision of all this is become unto you as the words of a writing that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying: 'Read this, I pray thee'; and he saith: 'I cannot, for it is sealed';

12 Ou dá-se o livro ao que não sabe ler, dizendo: Ora lê isto: e ele dirá: Não sei ler.

and the writing is delivered to him that is not learned, saying: 'Read this, I pray thee'; and he saith: 'I am not learned.'

13 Porque o Senhor disse: Pois que este povo se chega para mim com a sua boca, e com os seus lábios me honra, porém o seu coração afugenta para longe de mim e o seu temor para comigo consiste só em mandamentos de homens, em que foi instruído;

And the Lord said: Forasmuch as this people draw near, and with their mouth and with their lips do honour Me, but have removed their heart far from Me, and their fear of Me is a commandment of men learned by rote;

14 Portanto eis que continuarei a fazer uma obra maravilhosa no meio deste povo; uma obra maravilhosa e um assombro, porque a sabedoria dos seus sábios perecerá, e o entendimento dos seus prudentes se esconderá.

Therefore, behold, I will again do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder; and the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the prudence of their prudent men shall be hid.

15 Ai dos que querem esconder profundamente o conselho do Senhor, e fazem as suas obras às escuras, e dizem: Quem nos vê? e quem nos conhece?

Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the LORD, and their works are in the dark, and they say: 'Who seeth us? and who knoweth us?'

16 Vossa perversidade é, como se o oleiro fosse igual ao barro, e a obra dissesse ao seu artífice: Não me fez; e o vaso formado dissesse do seu oleiro: Nada sabe.

O your perversity! Shall the potter be esteemed as clay; that the thing made should say of him that made it: 'He made me not'; or the thing framed say of him that framed it: 'He hath no understanding?'

17 Porventura não se converterá o líbano, num breve momento, em campo fértil? e o campo fértil não se reputará por um bosque?

Is it not yet a very little while, and Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field, and the fruitful field shall be esteemed as a forest?

18 E naquele dia os surdos ouvirão as palavras do livro, e dentre a escuridão e dentre as trevas as verão os olhos dos cegos.

And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of a book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity and out of darkness.

19 E os mansos terão gozo sobre gozo no Senhor; e os necessitados entre os homens se alegrarão no Santo de Israel:

The humble also shall increase their joy in the LORD, and the neediest among men shall exult in the Holy One of Israel.

20 Porque o tirano fenece, e se consome o escarnecedor, e todos os que se dão à iniquidade são extirpados;

For the terrible one is brought to nought, and the scorner ceaseth, and all they that watch for iniquity are cut off;

21 Os que fazem culpado ao homem por uma palavra, e armam laços ao que os repreende na porta, e os que lançam o justo para o deserto.

That make a man an offender by words, and lay a snare for him that reproveth in the gate, and turn aside the just with a thing of nought.

22 Portanto assim diz o Senhor, que remiu a Abraão, acerca da casa de Jacob: Jacob não será agora mais envergonhado, nem agora se descorará mais a sua face

Therefore thus saith the LORD, who redeemed Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob: Jacob shall not now be ashamed, neither shall his face now wax pale;

23 Mas vendo ele a seus filhos, a obra das minhas mãos, no meio dele, então santificarão o meu nome, e santificarão ao Santo de Jacob, e temerão ao Deus de Israel.

When he seeth his children, the work of My hands, in the midst of him, that they sanctify My name; yea, they shall sanctify the Holy One of Jacob, and shall stand in awe of the God of Israel.

24 E os errados de espírito virão a ter entendimento, e os murmuradores aprenderão doutrina.

They also that err in spirit shall come to understanding, and they that murmur shall learn instruction.
